Surprisingly enough, it heals you when you use a synch attack.

Every time you do a sync attack you regen some health, but 0.4% is such a pathetically small amount it's not worth mentioning. Anti-slime and Chimera analyzer are useful, though, particularly Chimera analyzer because it let's you know which chimeras to focus on to get that full health restore.

There are more codes than you need to fully upgrade all your Legions and equipment. The chapter 12 missions give them out like candy. I maxed out everything before attempting to do the hardest chapter 12 missions.

The dedicated three slot ability is 2%, which is like 40 health points of 2000. Two slots are 1% for 20 health points. That's okay, but not worth actively trying to slot in because you get a chance for a full heal after killing a chimera.

You should, it's the best technique for getting crowds of enemies off your ass. Do a blackhole and then follow it up with a Crash Bomb and 360 sync attack from the Axe legion to take off like 1000 health from every enemy.

That final boss Noah was hard as fuck but once I started using beast legion more it was doable, still wiped out all my consumables, glad I never ended up using any during my game. That final sequence where you do all of the perfect call attacks on Noah was bad-ass and perfectly over-the-top. When I play through again I'm going to take more advantage of the vending machines for sure, those bonuses really make a difference. I'm still beating myself up over taking photos of Noah's final forms but then dying and having to start over and forgetting to do it again. I might give it another go tonight though now that I know I can pull it off.

There's a guaranteed 1 slot parry ability by buying food from a Chinese street vendor 7 times during the mission where you have to infiltrate the walled off zone. I think it's chapter 7. It's the part of the mission where you have to collect info on how to meet the hermits.

It's definitely a different kind of Platinum game. It's not the combat that makes it long (except for post game which has an obscene amount of combat), but the investigation and exploration.

If you say no, Akira Noah's legion, the arrow legion chooses to do it. Also yes the legion are conscious creatures with thoughts, and that is why they were able to break free in the first place. I think they broke out, because they wanted to have a master that beat them in combat, instead of one that they had to automatically serve. As far as I know the process for getting a legion is to have it assigned to you.

No seriously, someone explain this one to me because the math is bullshit. You get 4,100 bonus points for hitting no cars and killing everyone, which means in order to get the S+ rank, you need another 5,900 points. Your only other bonus for this section is unscathed and time. So if you get unscathed, that's 5,000 points plus the 1,250 time minimum and all is well. However, on Pt Ultimate, your Legion takes damage from literally anything it touches and you can't desummon it when it's attacking. So unless you shoot for 20 minutes without ever attacking with your Legion, you can't get unscathed. And you have to play PERFECTLY.

I get about 3,572 points in time bonus doing it as fast as I can with my best Legion. How on earth can you possibly speed this up? Do you need to stack damage ups? Can you drink attack power boosting sodas in the motorcycle segment? I can't tell because you can't access the menu in this dumb section.

Max is fucking dead. Note that when you find the Axe Legion, it has the astral chain around its neck, meaning that Max actually caught it and tamed it at some point, then he either died or was consumed by the Astral Plane, and since he wasn't a "True Legionis" like the twins, he didn't fuse with his Legion. The only other potential option is that rather than fusing with his legion he was absorbed by it.

Remember, Lappy's always got his eye on you, partner!

My conclusion on S+ fights:

-The game punishes you for using the pistol, aside from very specific instances, and even then the game wants you to send a melee legion in and then pull yourself towards the target and air combo instead, i can't stress this enough THE GAME FUCKING HATES YOU USING THE PISTOL.

-The game rewards chaining the enemy, incapacitating them, using sync attacks as much as possible, and finishers, and it also wants you to be as efficient as possible.

Thus, i have concluded that the big ass sword is the best weapon to S+ with.
It enables you to do sync attacks up close and personal, while doing the most damage per hit.
I can't say i'm happy with this because i absolutely love the pistol and i'm heartbroken by the fact that every time i try to do cool shit with it, my rank drops from S+ to fucking B.
So depressing.

So Effect Spread, does it spread only the main effect (so E-Save here), both the main and extra (so also Anti-Freeze) or ALL the abilities? I really fucking doubt all of them, that'd be kinda broken.

They're not that hard. For the first, you only need 3 random blue spots after the 7 fixed yellow spots and 5 fixed blues. For the second, equip red removal and legion speed boost codes, figure out a path, and keep the combo up. You only need about 120 000 for Alan's case and I finished with almost 150 000.

All of them. Ordinarily, your Legion shares it's skills with you when when it's called, but the skills deactivate when the legion is banished. Effect spread just makes it so that particular legion's skills are always active as long as that legion is the one currently selected. I'm the guy who posted that pic, btw. Axe legion deals fuckloads of damage without the help of abilities, so I decided to focus on survivability and QoL. Some of the Chapter 12 fights are really brutal, they don't let you heal or revive, and you have to fight wave after wave of enemies. Being able to parry and having the safety net of surviving a fatal hit even when I run out of Legion energy has saved my ass more than a couple times. You think it's broken, but it's not, because your dps is cut down like 50% when your legion isn't called.

Parry is a different thing from Perfect Call. Parry is an action you can do if you have the ability equipped. To parry you press the left stick in the direction of an incoming attack as it's about to hit to negate it. It's a lot easier to do than Perfect Call, and can stop a lot of annoying attacks in their tracks like the Axe legion's spin2win attack. You can't Perfect Call without legion energy or when your Legion is already out, but you can parry.

That final boss was fucking amazing. Actual best fight in the game.

I think you're about 70% through the story. Story goes up to file 11, file 12 is all post game battles.

One costume is unlocked via story, the rest are things you've got to unlock, sometimes with multiple steps per quest (like finding all the toilets).

The extra colors and accessories (masks/hats/earings/glasses) are unlocked by completing orders/achievements, can be found in chests, hard to reach items lying on the floor, or sold by merchants.

There's a LOT of things to find in this game.

Addittionally, there are two other rewards (can't remember name) where they give you a bonus for killing an enemy with one legion/weapon, the next enemy with another legion/weapon, and the bonus keeps growing the longer you keep this chain going for.

My only problem with this game is the serious lack of Premium Codes. Common and Rare codes become obsolete pretty quickly despite being so abundant and I'm under the honest impression that I'm going to have to start P Ultimate before I can max out my legions.

Oh don't worry, those cases are gonna get real bullshit later on, especially when you have no revives and very few healing items.

I cheesed it in Bayo by resetting if an enemy touched me or I lost the combo. That way you go back to the last autosave. Still takes time but you don't have to replay the entire chapter.

You have the gameplay mechanics necessary to do so from file 3 but you might take longer to work out how to use your tools properly

After you figure this out, it’s actually really consistent. There’d almost no guesswork as to what you need to do, unlike some Platinum games where you don’t know how fast you need to be or how high your combo should be. There are some maddening bullshit sections though.

Voice direction alone makes her seem much more haughty while the male one's more quiet/reserved. They really do have different lines too, and she's much more aggressive in them.

It comes across bitchy to me. I like the brother that wants to be like dad but is a bit more soft spoken trying to hide that he almost cried when you were in trouble or has a soft spot for cats. He also just visually fits the facade he's trying to put on more, while default Akira's booty shorts and fluffy hair don't feel like it fits with how extreme she tries to cover up the other stuff, in a full on "b-baka oniichan!" tone.

And the sister suddenly making the brother feel useless in a physical way because she has otherworldly demons feels like it's a bigger change in their dynamic, which makes the angst over it + lack of ability to emulate and avenge their dad despite expectations of a brother/son fit real well to me.

Let's be real, making the sibling you pick a silent protagonist was a stupid decision. Akira ends up having all the personality and basically acting for two while the PC ends up an emotionless doll. They could have easily made both siblings active characters and just switched their lines/roles.

Game is fantastic. It has faults for sure, but if you're anything like me the hype will damn near kill you at times. The twists are obvious but still gets me fucking pumped. Gameplay is real fucking good too, but like everyone says, it takes a couple chapters to get going, literally and figuratively.

So what's peoples thoughts on the final boss?
I personally found it to be an amazing end battle, all three of them. Granted the first Giant one is pretty jank and almost requires you to memorize the layout due to the platforming being subpar, but the Core was just great. The visuals were really good, very "unfinished", and it was more about dodging than anything else. Not quite sure what to do against the "everywhere" attack though, Axe Legion shield?
The FINAL final battle was amazing, honestly. Hard as BALLS, but not strictly unfair. Had you use all your Legions throughout and rewarded you for using the correct ones.

Yes. I would happily sacrifice the frankly meager customisation options to have the player character have more personality. Default designs are fantastic anyway.

Lupins were clearly the main protagonists. Pats were basically side characters except for Keiichiro and that's only because of his rivalry with Lupin Red.

I swear the number of missions is more daunting than the difficulty. Were there even 70 non side quest missions in the main game? I'm not even halfway through.

The platforming was awful, which is par for the course

Real question, I loved Nier Automata, but I'm not a fan of DMC, and I tend to get put off by anime stuff in general because it doesn't offer enough dept to its story and characters.

Probably not. I haven't played neir but Astral chain is kind of intentionally a bunch of anime cliches. The story doesn't get too in deph, especially with the silent protag. Plus a lot of it in the logs rather than cutscenes
