Sorta, you upgrade your Outer with body modifications and slowly become more machine than man.
There are different upgrade branches that can be picked but you can't alternate between them once you've picked the next upgrade.

yes, in addition to a random loot component. if you kill an enemy not-AC, you can loot them for 1 part out of a pool. Some parts will come with a bonus mod.

there were cybernetic mods that acted as sort of a progression tree in the original prototype missions (old demo), but not in the new demo. not sure if it was removed or not.

every mission in the demo was very easy, and healing things were plentiful. hopefully release will be a bit more challenging. gameplay wise, its f*n, but how they handle ascending and descending is very wonky - hold b to jump into the air, where you'll automatically hover. press in L stick to descend and land to be on the ground. I would have prefered AC's approach of one button for ascent and mech gradually wanting to fall with gravity making an additional button unnecessary.

Switching parts is more like sidegrading than straight upgrades it seems. Regular enemies are pretty much trash, but enough of them at once can build up damage quickly. Bosses are more like fighting a large monster in Monster Hunter. They can be challenging at first, but then you learn their attacks and you can destroy them fairly quickly while cursing because they didn't drop their rare item. Don't know how many bosses there are though.

What's everyone's control scheme? I'm not liking the defaults at all.

It might take a month to hit a million but I believe in DXM
The issue is I don't actually know the last time an Armored Core game hit more than a million sales, or even a million
Using """VG Chartz""" as reference, 3 sold about 0.67 million, 2 sold 0.79 million and 4 sold 0.2 million
But DXM has some things those games didnt
First, it's on a platform that is pretty well known for having solid attach rates. The Switch's high attach rate for software is likely one of the reasons Astral Chain did as well as it did
Second, Nintendo has given this game a solid amount of love, all things considered. It's been featured prominently in directs since E3 of last year and it's had two demos out to showcase its gameplay (for good or ill)
Third, it has the benefit of actual human beings the player can see and as such it has characters most regular people can attach to
I suspect a high number of people will buy it but not end up playing it fully, but it will have a small dedicated community that keeps up with updates

Move in one direction, and then try to switch to another direction abruptly. You'll notice that your mech does a little spin to turn. Press the shoot button, and they'll do the spin shoot. Not very practical though

I've found doing a U with the analog to whatever direction you want does it easily

I really only found that to be the case when I was dumb enough to try to melee Straits that also were packing melee/shield. Then I learned the glory of two auto-aiming guns and just boosting through entire enemy lines as they exploded faster than I could reach them

Weapon variety's a lot better in the main game, though maybe a bit too slow in unlocking stuff in the shop to play with

You can stop attacking the knees once the pink cylinders explode. After it shoots its beam, cylinders pop out of the cannon. Destroy those and the cannon will fall off. Pick the cannon up from the red circles on top and shoot the cylinders on its belly.

I'm liking the smaller katana. It's not great for battles against other mechs unless you pop the attacking Femto buff, but it lets you dash and carve apart swathes of tanks without effort. Watch for the submachine gun early on, especially any white ones with automatic aiming and shooting

Playasia still has the controllers if you want them. No wireless, IR or HD rumble, so hand held only, but I dont care about those features and almost exclusively play undocked at work.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory is my favorite. 08th MS is good. 00 is a little too anime even by weeb standards. Girls like Escaflowne but its got good fights too. Code Geasse is stupid and crazy but people love it. Darling In The Franxx isn't about robots at all. Nothing is as weird as Eva. The first few episodes of Aldnoah.Zero are great but most of it is grabage, and the ending is trash. Gundam Wing is dorky but fun, more SuperRobot than most. Unicorn is a classic but requires at least a baseline understanding 1979 Gundam to get the full picture. (Like who is Bright and so on) Thunderbolt is probably the best godamned Gundam anything in decades but it is depressing and hardcore. Ibo's story sucks but it has some good fights, the ending was the most controversial part. Turn A is good if you have no idea where to start and dont mind crotch-cock pits. Mobile Fighter is as campy is it is entertaining as it is stupid as it is endearing. (SOMBRERO GUNDAM) It depends a lot on what you are into. Like Berserk? Watch Thunderbolt. Like Dragonball? Watch Mobile Fighter. Like Waifus? Watch Darling. Like political shit? Watch Aldnoah or soemthing idk. Want weird? Watch Eva or Argento Soma which gives Eva a run for its money in the "What the fuck am I watching?" Deoartment and has arespectably batshit ending. Want medieval mecha and magic? Escaflowne or Turn A more or less. Want robot rambo? 08th. Want a Nuclear laser gun pointed at space station filled with millions of people? Stardust.

A lot of people I know dont like 79 but like Destiny, Wing, 00, TurnA, Thunderbolt, and desu it hasnt aged the greatest but I do agree it is good. I just dont think its prohibitive or exclusionary like that. Not the greatest first impression. It is good and I recommend it, maybe just not as a starting point.

Also Vtoms is great, Armor Hunter Mellowlink for a dude without a mech taking mechs down and its amazing, and Granbelm is fun if you like yuri, Madoka Magica, and Incest Ntr among other things. But its more magic super robots.

Pretty sure I looted them in the co-op missions against Bullet Works and Western VII. The latter is a pain because the map is huge, one guy runs away all day, and another guy can heal his teammates.

You can't do anything else and it makes you stop though (I have ogre break). I like it but I still think I prefer the default missile pod. Blitz (funnels) was cool but I can see you losing them quite easily.

Any idea where the Pre-Order code can be found if you bought the game from Amazon?

I felt the default missile pod didn't do enough damage and the shots would spread out too much is there were several targets. It was still better than the one from the Snatcher blueprints though. That one never hit anything.

I've gotten a whole bunch of missile launchers (garuda, scarlet star, rampage hammer) that seemed amazing until I realized that they barely hit anything. Rampage has a lot of splash and burn though.

Other consoles are just kinda too expensive to develop for. Games require better and better visuals to not stand out as bad looking, but on the switch you can make your games look worse without it being as much of an issue, meaning you don't have to spend millions upon millions on higher fidelity assets. A great benefit to smaller devs

Yeah, the system's right in the sweet spot of powerful enough that it's probably not compromising creative visions, without requiring Sony/MS in-house tier budgets to even compete visually. I've not exactly been taking the digital foundry approach to things but the framerate feels far better than in the demos based on older builds. Only drops I've noticed are in some mid-mission cutscenes, which isn't a biggie. Take it as you will.
