Gumshoe is more of a main cast member than Pearl is. I'd like to see a case where he gets accused though.

Have any of you weebs played the original Japanese versions? I'm curious about what Grossberg's line "Ah the days of my youth. Like the scent of fresh lemons..." was originally written as. I feel like I've seen Japanese stuff compare youth to lemons in other media and was wondering if it's some cultural idiom or something.

I still counted Gumshoe, I was talking about this case.

I want a return to form where the prosectuors could be assholes, but still be likable for the most part and have good character development.

Yeah, the other prosecutors were abusive, but they weren't this fucking retarded, and they had actual character progression, like when Franzisca starts crying and when Godot sacrifices his freedom to protect Maya.

or when Edgeworth resigns as a prosecutor for a while because he found himself doing anything to win instead of seeking out the truth.

Yeah, the fourth case.
This was before Edgeworth's redemption as well and he even tried to go after Gumshoe a couple of times
But yeah, including that and a brief moment where Franziska was "fake" accused in the fifth case of Investigations 1 , Pearls is the only non accused main cast member as of now.

I want an Ace Attorney game like Harvey Birdman where Phoenix defends other Capcom characters.

You're ignoring the fact that this was given the okay by Edgeworth specifically, because he was secretly working on his case and knew Blackquill wasn't actually guilty. And before you try to pull "the new games made him stupid", let me remind you that the only reason Godot got to prosecute was because of Edgeworth's recommendation, despite him being at best almost a decade out of practice working on the other side of the courtroom, and at worst a literal who coma patient.

What's wrong with Apollo? AJ in his own game might've been a bit bland, yes, but DD and
especially SOJ really fleshed out his personality from Phoenix. What do you dislike about him?

The game is satire based on how biased Prosecutors are treated in Japan compared to defense attorneys.
Also very first game has you cross examining a parrot, it's not meant to be very realistic.
