How do I git gud

>inb4 gets nuked by the janny

Do I need autism for this game?

read nigga read
read up on all the values in the game
read up on how they work
read up on which synergize
read up on which should have priority in raising
the more you read and understand the mechanics the better you get, nothing else to it

A low quality low freq is what you want as a tin can, right? So the shield lasts a really long time and just a bit of damage squeaks by to get blocked by DT? Do you want 2 low freqs or just one?

>A low quality low freq is what you want as a tin can, right?
Of course not, why would a tin can ever worry about low impact attacks?
And why in the world would you want a low quality anything?

nth for china turned into a parking lot when

My understanding is that a low freq shield will have a lower shield rating against firearms, and a low quality frequency emitter will have an even lower one, so that it lowers damage enough on bullets that your armor will resist the rest and the shield will last a long time instead of getting blown up in a couple attacks.

No. Only squishies say you need low shields.
As a tin can, you need high high shields.

Believe me, I know my shit.

No you pipeworker.
I can explain, but only if you know this.

Do you know the concept of 'Damage Treshold' in this game?

>Begging to be banned again
As you wish

Fuck off retard.

Yes, which is what I was talking about. I thought the point was so the shield would block just enough damage from incoming attacks that your DT would resist the rest of the damage. What it sounded like was that if you had a high frequency high quality shield, it would block al the damage from guns, and only last for a few attacks, but if you had a lower rating for the higher frequencies it could soften the damage of more attacks and last longer while your DT is resisting all the damage that gets through.

No

Fuck off. If Nintendo and constant smash threads are still allowed then so should this

Do explosive mines destroy bear traps in their blast radius?

Nice deflection.

>pistols
>crafting
>sneaking and stealing

Attached: 1536840596101.png (313x291, 134K)

Still not gonna move

Bre, shield frequencies block different attack speeds.
A proper tin can should never worry about low speed impacts so a Low shield is a complete waste of time, what you want is a High-High shield to block high impact attacks like sniper rounds, which are the only thing besides Psi that can go beyond your layers of tungsten or Super Steel.
And you do not want low quality anything because quality only means how good a part is in the context of crafting multipliers, not what it does and doesn't do, a low Q emitter will ALWAYS be shit and worse than a high Q emitter, this is fucking common sense.
No.

people like you need to be hung.

Attached: 1567719168113.jpg (415x600, 58K)

>A proper tin can should never worry about low speed impacts so a Low shield is a complete waste of time
God this shit is always retarded.
Double low is the best kind of shield regardless of what kind of character you have.

Don't you have homework to do kid? Your mom's gonna be mad

if only you were a janny
oh well guess you'll have to stick to complaining

That's not what I mean. The low freq isn't to block melee attacks, it's so your shielding against high speed attacks like bullets is lower, so the shield doesn't pop from blocking all the damage from a guy's single AR burst, and instead lets some of the damage through so your DT would tank the rest of it. That way the shield lasts for the whole fight and is constantly mitigating just enough damage from incoming shots that your DT defeats most everything coming your way.

I think I'm soft-locked. I can't go forward because there are rocks in the way and I can't go back because lol negative 1000 initiative means I get mauled by the 8 pit bulls camping the zone transition. I'd revert to an old save but apparently the game only keeps the last two auto/quick saves you've made instead of all of them.

yes.
you catch on quickly tho

Just whine more cause you have no power faggout

Just go somewhere else for a while. Enemies reset to their original position after some time.

Or if you want you can just go to 5x speed and alt tab while shitposting here.

the tears of your impotency are delicious

how sure are you of this
because I'm pretty sure that's not what happens based on my experience

Nimble+armor sloping+supersteel is more of a QoL mitigation method of maintaining movement points instead of raw optimization. The theory being that being more mobile will prevent more damage (via cornering) and open up more opportunities for damage (via ability to reach optimal attacking range) than the raw defensive stats heavier armors grant.
Again, it's QoL. You're not going to be dodging anything at 40/50% arm pen with quad super steel, but you'll have some MP and won't be tied to Sprint. Whether Nimble is worth the feat point is extremely debatable (I'm personally not a fan of the idea at all), it's easy to see the theory behind the thing. I assume people would also go Body Weight Training.

iirc enemies reset position and respawn after 90 minutes in game time. At the very least I know that I've cleared out an area only to go back to it later and all the guys are back around where they normally started.

of course they go to the same position on respawn but that does not mean they go to the same position if you don't kill them

I sprinted past the goliaths on dominating to unlock the oculus and i came back 3 days later and they were still in the same place

Animals will respawn (because their parts are often oddities or crafting components)
Human enemies do not respawn.

I literally can not go anywhere because I used my one TNT charge already and there are rocks blocking my only route of egress and a ton of pit bulls are camping the other end of the zone.

Attached: iamfuck.png (731x543, 392K)

Yes, but you must also remenber melee hits bypasses energy shields, for example, knifes bypasses 60% of your shields no matter what.
Low freq shields are used by squishies to protect them from crossbows and bullets spam, because they cannot tank anything.
But actually armour is the one that actually has the duty to protect you from melee hits, like knifes, not shields; the job of shields is to protect you from electric and energy damage, which metal armour has very low resistances against it, whereas metal armour has massive amounts of mech resistances.

Become a tungsten tank, knifefags stop being an issue once you got 60 DT, if you fully resist their crippling strike, it's debuff wont apply, wear full metal, tungsten armour, tungsten helmet, tungsten booties. Keep mechanics maxed out and make Leonie your gf for more tungsten, rush killing the Beast quest in foundry.

How long in game was it between you doing that and going back? I've never bothered to test it personally, the 90 minute reset is just what I've heard.

way more than 90 minutes i can say that for sure

I'm not talking about melee, holy crap.

>Implying it's not still relevant
I have 3 int and 3 per

>the job of shields is to protect you from electric and energy damage
A good quality shield emitter of any type is going to do that just fine.

How the fuck you got yourself in such situation anyways?

Plasma turrets disagree with you
SPECIALLY the Black Sea ones

is throwing appropriate amounts of explosives around a viable problem solving method in this game

Attached: Hand_Axe.jpg (480x270, 52K)

Yea Forums talks about killing enemies by throwing molotovs and zone transitioning, but when I tried it I'm getting fucked by dogs.

Does enemies respawn ?

>a single enemy type that only shows up 3/4 times in very small numbers and are very easy to cheese is why you NEED a double high shield
You are legit stupid.

Anything outside of humans/scripted encounters eventually respawns.
Note that humans include muties.

Seth got me to finally buy it and its DLC. Good that he made the devs put a 20% discount too.

Takes a guess
Yes

It is literally one of the most efficient manners to solve problems in this game, with a couple dedicated feats to it and its own skill, and you can make your own grenades to commit war crimes with.

Well, okay. Thanks for info.

human enemies: no
mutants: mostly no, yes in Depot A
creatures: yeah
it's pretty fucked on DOMINATING, cleared part of Depot A, came back 20 minutes later and had to do it again

Better safe than sorry.

Ha ha sounds really fun.

You dont zone transition cheese if:
A) You cant kill an enemy in time
B) Cant survive a whole turn of that unit

Why would you ever go back to Depot A though?

Why is my fucking melee accuracy such garbage? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I feel like I miss more than I hit.

Attached: 1354763338640.jpg (429x377, 41K)

enemies also have dodge and evasion

What build
What melee weapon
What's your melee skill
Post STR and DEX
What difficulty
Where you're
Against what enemies

Do it

Zone transitioning only works if you zone properly with the upper hand, as in a zone with two or more entries.
Bear in mind zoning in a place with enemies you've already aggro'd automatically puts you at a -1000 initiative roll on the round you zone in.

Have you been pumping melee to max every level?

1. What are you swinging at?
2. What are you swinging?
3. What's your melee skill?
4. What are your base stats?

starting my first playthrough right now
oddity or classic?
any other tips?

>get to depot A
>step on an invisible bomb and die instantly
Is it fucked? Do I have to restart another character and put points in traps?

Attached: 1556316699202.jpg (800x600, 183K)

classic
try going for evenly spread stats and skills

Space Oddity.
Play normal, swallow your pride before bitching in these threads.

>Fighting
Some "Junkyard Muties" and "Dogs"
>Melee weapon
Sledgehammer (Also have a knife but it's also pretty shit)
>Melee Skill
40
>STR and DEX
8/5
>Difficulty
Normal

Why the fuck can't you hit on Essie? She's a cutie pie and she seems like she actually likes you, but not only can you not hit on her, she also has barely any dialog. Or that really tired doctor in railroad crossings. You get to be a big strong man and relieve her of all her problems and you can't ask her to use your face as a seat. It's bullshit.

Attached: 1512509291965.png (661x570, 137K)

I'm getting mixed signals here

can you explode the exploder with explosives before it explodes ypu

Dogs are VERY dodgy, you will need to have another way to reliably take them out
Flashbangs, molotovs, throwing nets, psi

>Sledgehammer
>8 STR
>Not 10
>5 DEX
>Not 3 DEX as a slegdehammer

who would you rather listen to, a sensible man or some oddball

Oddity is going to make your life a lot easier, especially on a first playthrough. Oddity equally benefits all playstyles, while classic only benefits those that can and will kill literally everything they come across. You're also less likely to be underleveled with oddity.

Also don't half ass any of your stats or skills.

Oddity, as the developer wants and intends
Why would you play Classic, which is more of the same?

I think Oddity levels you faster in the beginning of the game, but classic will let you max out easier.

Except you're forgetting about all those low speed projectiles that will easily fuck up a tin can that are far more plentiful in both the base game and DLC.
Double high advocates are just contrarians.

underrail.com/wiki/index.php?title=Intimidate
Basically, they yelled at you and lowered your offensive stats. Ignore ghost who's pushing his melee tank psi build to religious levels; grenade feats help with melee's lack of ranged AoE and Dex+Int gets you cheap shots. Just play smart

Because becoming stronger through finding mole excrement in a box ruins muh immershun

and I manage to fuck up even shitposting

Attached: 1560297779799.gif (400x400, 3.08M)

>95% Mech DR and 62 Mech DT
Yeah nah.

If you walk very slowly, like only a couple spaces at a time, that'll help you find traps better, cuz I'm pretty sure a lower perception rating that can still detect the trap takes longer for the trap to actually get detected. There's also gear that increases your perception or detection. And when in doubt you can just toss a grenade or something in the path you're going to take.

3 dex with a melee build is fucking stupid. Grenadier is pretty much required for them.

>gets acid pistol-ed
>melts into goo in two turns
high-high that shit

>3 dex with a melee build is fucking stupid.
Opinion.
Tungsten tank dont need grenaider.

Styg is a wizard irl. Took him until the Expedition to let female protag at least try to slut it up - and, to this day, the only woman in the Underrail who wants to so much as touch the male protag is a serial killer. It is what it is, unfortunately.

>cyrokinesis
>acid traps
>locusts
>serpents
>mutants
>weird savage fucks
Yeah that mechanical resist is really going to save you from all this acid and bio damage.

Grenadier dramatically improves how quickly you can kill enemies. Your armor has nothing to do with it retard.

Personally I find it incredibly refreshing to play an RPG where not everyone is trying to jump on your dick or lesbo it up as soon as you meet them.

>Implying low shields will fully protect you from the ass whopping amount of damage of acid pistols

>Implying a fucking tank will get melted by acid
Although acid entanglement fucking sucks I must admit

If I kill Svana can I drive the boat myself?

styg has a kid

Grown in a lab.

My first build was a 3 dex AR tincan because I was memed into getting 6 agi for sprint, and shortly after Depot A my life became a fucking nightmare. Though that might be because I immediately did Dude's quest as soon as I found him.

>250 (effective) of a currency good in exactly one place in the entirety of underrail
>240 (effective) of a currency that's good literally everywhere, including the location of that accepts the first currency
man, what a hard choice

>>cyrokinesis
Just tank it
>>acid traps
Just tank it, or savescum it
>>locusts
Aegis helmet, also you can craft a biohazard metal armour.
Also biohazard boots are easy to grab.
>>serpents
I concede this one, they were a fucking nightmare.
Fuck sea wyrms.
>>mutants
Just tank it, mutants wont acid spray if you get right on their faces
>>weird savage fucks
The thought control shamans was a fucking pain in the ass, otherwise none of them were an issue

Has anyone tried dna-scanning a psimorph? Apparently you can put caged animals in the scanner but I only had a overcharged cat with me at that point.

>Tin can
>Sprint
>Meme
You fucking wot pipeworker. Sprint is mandatory in a tin can.
If you use a sledgehammer you SHOULD tank dex to 3
If you use guns, however, that's another story

>Dude quest
No shame, his quest is hard as balls

I'm gonna start this for the first time. Making a genderbent version of me, what are some good skills? Are guns viable? Apparently this game lets you have psychic powers from the start?

Attached: 132231231.jpg (170x248, 18K)

>dude just tank it with your hp and carry around a whole extra set of armor lol
Or, you know, just use a double low shield like everyone else.
When you argue that carrying a whole extra set of armor is better than using a proper shield emitter you know you've lost the argument.

>spiders can disarm my gas grenades
why are they so smart

why would I need sprint when I can just throw 3x as many grenades now

It's absolutely a meme because melee niggers think their shit applies to everyone and give terrible advice.

How about the fucking wheeled sentry bots that can go up and down stairs? That was some shit when I first saw that.

unironically, doing both is the best way to go about it. there's really nothing stopping anyone from putting all their options forward towards overcoming specific kinds of combat and, given how strong sledgehammer users are and how relatively light shields and leather armor is, carrying around gear for specific encounters is hardly a bad idea.
It's definitely a luxury STR players have.

>Not having 300 kg carry capacity
>Not carrying a complementary metal armour set at all times
>Implying shields will protect you from the ass whopping amounts of acid damage from Sea wyrms
Jokes asides, I did a lot of exploration and recon, I would explore the seas and find the Locusts hotspots, then go back, get my biohazard weapon and do the deed
It was somewhat tedious, but better than getting slowly attrition'd by locust infection

>Making a genderbent version of me
That's now how it works in Underrail
This is not a 'create a waifu' simulator, this is a slavic caveman survival simulator.
>Are guns viable?
Yes
>Apparently this game lets you have psychic powers from the start?
Yes. Ask if you need.

I'm playing a fem protag and I hate that this isn't a porn game
My avatar picture is one of the default ones but already looks enough like a cumslut to make look like something out of a porn game
On top of that I have high persuasion and the mind control psionics but I can't even attempt to use seduction to get my way
At least using seduction should be a valid strategy to deal with gangers and the like even in the game as it is without any porn
But really it would be better if there was porn and you could get railed by everyone and sometimes everything

he's advising dex to 3 to pump will to 7. disingenuous arguments without context certainly aren't going to help new players reading the convo

>I hate that this isn't a porn game
>My avatar picture is one of the default ones but already looks enough like a cumslut to make look like something out of a porn game
Please leave

shouldn't you pick the skills that best represent your irl abilities if you're making a genderbent version of yourself?
isn't that the whole point?

>durr tin can NEED 6 agility always!
Like I said, a stupid forced meme.
Even compass fags were better than this.

Man Gorsky is cool.
>SHUT THE FUCK UP, HOLE.

I actually didnt say that, I assumed he was a normal psi-less sledge, so no reason to pump will
If you got a personal vendetta against me user, we can talk about it

Imagine being such a contrarian that you make things harder for yourself instead of just making a good double low shield like everyone else.
Really shows the mindset of double high retards.

Sure.

How is he going to get 6 stacks of crippled on me if pop adrenaline, throw a grenade, and burst half a dozen times in two turns?

leveling your traps skill helps. buying detection goggles helps alot more.

playing this again after buying the expansion the other day, Psi build or guns ?

They are bullet hoses
The very definition of 'more daka'

Psi with guns build. It's the most fun playstyle.

run and gun with bursting, lots of damage, works well with bombs

>adrenaline adds +2 strength and a flat amount of AP
you really don't know shit about this game huh?

So I should use them with the supression trait or whatever its called?

Agreed with the other user
Go for a hybrid psi builds, gunner with Time Magic

aite lads

>you really don't know shit about this game huh?
Considering I finished the game in Dominating with 600 hours in it, I'd say no, not at all
But whatever floats your boat my dude

burrowers are seriously the fucking worst. they're just gigantic hordes of bullet sponges that make you waste tons of your resources for virtually no reward to pay you back for them. maybe a couple meager chests of in their lair if you're lucky. gorsky had the right idea

Supression+opportunist = free 15% damage for every shot in a burst past the 1st one. It's really good. And SMGs usually cost less AP than an AR, so you can burst more often. Expertise and the weapon mod and feat that add extra rounds to a burst would probably be really good.

the fact that you can't provide a counter argument proves it
oh and lets not forget that crippled only has a max stat of 3.
just imagine getting basic shit wrong after "600" hours of playtime.

Only reduces AP by 15. No big deal.

You took the Fallout spiritual successor pill. That was a meme. This game is turn-based Diablo with extra steps.

I can provide argument, as being heavily overcumbered by crippled will also siphon almost all your AP, sure, getting 20 AP from adrenaline will at least let you throw a grenade and move an inch, but unless you throw a grenade at your feet, kill everybody around you AND survive the blast, you will have a really awful time, specially if you dont manage to finish the job before the exhaustion effect kicks in.

Then again, no point on arguying, whatever floats your boat.

im never sure if full auto is worth it on smgs. 4 points is a lot on a build that already wants lots of dex and perc

maybe im a huge zoner babby but i feel like the easiest solution is to press f9 and throw an incendiary before he unstealths

In that we agree.
I always felt fire nades are superior to frag nades.
Or just use psychokinesis

I always forget how much you can whore yourself out in the originals. Those were better times.

>being heavily overcumbered by crippled will also siphon almost all your AP
it's only 15 AP dude
like holy shit, at least double check basic shit before embarrassing yourself, especially after that 600 hour boast.

no it is not
in fact muzzle break isn't worth it either
the thing that will stop you in your tracks the most is running out of bullets

Attached: file.png (989x608, 365K)

>Then again, no point on arguying, whatever floats your boat.
I mean you could always admit that you were wrong instead of lying or ducking out like a coward.

I did, but the wiki doesnt specify the AP reduction open different levels of overcumbering
Honestly, when I see the overcumbered symbol, I simply just use psychokinesis and sprint away

give me a reason to buy this. ( should i and do i need to get the dlc or can i just not buy it)
i really wanna buy it because of the video but don't know if its really as open as people say

>give me a reason to buy this.
No

>give me a reason to buy this.
No
Fuck off you entitled cunt

i'm not entitled just because i don't wanna spend hard-earned money on something that can be bad

What is it with Yea Forums and this question? You're already on the internet, just go find somewhere with descriptions of the game or youtube videos showing gameplay. What do people want to hear when they ask this?

Wow this game sucks

Attached: 1465458645125.png (916x1000, 1.1M)

>i checked the wiki and spewed stupid incorrect shit instead of testing it out in the game myself

It's a clunky indie RPG
It's not as open as people say
The actual roleplaying is limited
Exploration is the main attraction of the game and the underground world is fun to walk through
If you decide to buy make sure grab the DLC as well because it's better than most of the main game

>ask the opinion of people who have played the game and are talking about the game if the game they purchased is worth purchasing

Is it worth while?

>don't want to test it yourself

It'd only be that if you said "yeah I was wrong grenadier is better in general than sprint."
Go on, say it.

Nothing significant. I was very disappointed after seeing all the psi exclusive stuff.

No.
Sprint for life.
I like Grenaider too, but remind me why we are discussing this

are there any others with the same vibe i should play?

For some reason i cant get into this game. I dropped it right when i reached the big major city where it was spooky and scary things were drilling through to invade.

I still fail to see how Sprint is bad on a character that is usually at 95% AP, tho.
I mean sure, I'm very biased since I personally play melee, and dont know much guns, but there's no reason to not get an ability that gives you 30 unpenalized movement point for completely free for 2 turns, 45 MP if fully specialized. We are arguying like Sprint and Grenaider are muturally exclusive, maybe for a hammer tin can is, but not for a gunner tin can.
Still, when a dick ass thought controller shows up and the player fails to end his existence in 1 turn, being able to book it is a pretty good achievement.

AR tin cans barely need to move, if ever. You can pick a spot and mow down everyone that comes near you.
>We are arguying like Sprint and Grenaider are muturally exclusive
They are, especially when suggesting the newbie build. And don't try to duck out of it this time and suggest that Sprint has always been recommended when that's clearly false. You're the only one that does it.
There's no point in using Sprint when you can grab Psycho-temporal Contraction with no stat investment while simultaneously opening up the possibility for the other universally useful psi abilities.

>Poison

Just tank it

>There's no point in using Sprint when you can grab Psycho-temporal Contraction with no stat investment while simultaneously opening up the possibility for the other universally useful psi abilities.
However, as far as I know, talking to other anons, psycho temporal contraction bonus MP points get penalized after the first turn by Armour Penalty, tho.
Also, it's not exacly free, you must put 55 points into TM
>And don't try to duck out of it this time and suggest that Sprint has always been recommended when that's clearly false.
>You're the only one that does it.
While I concede this one, given I never have runned gunner tin cans before, you must understand than Sprint is still very reasonable on a high AP tin can regardless, it's not really that out of the way to get anyways.

55 skill points is significantly less investment than 3 stat points.
>given I never have runned gunner tin cans before
Then why the hell are you spending so much time arguing about it?
Yeah, Sprint is useful. Is it going to be mandatory for heavy armor dudes? No. Is it going to be better for most characters than Grenadier? No.

>Then why the hell are you spending so much time arguing about it?

I read that they don't refresh if you stay on the map. So, it's 90 mins away from the area. It's in game 90 mins so if you set max speed, it's a lot less. My stores refresh really quick cos I play on 5x speed and I move between areas to sell. Early game, you can sell things at both Junkyard and SGS. Then not long after, you have core city, rail crossing and foundry. I pick up and sell everything that isn't junk and you quickly end up with more money than you can spend.

stealth doesnt work that well with shotguns anyway because theyre the loudest weapons in the game and the last patch stopped them working with ambush.

yeah half the time I make so much noise people just funnel into my gun, I was putting it into some speech shit but I kinda want try another psi class for shits

is tincan shotgun viable?

>Not infused cave hopper leather tabi boots

I don't see why not. Your stats will be spread pretty thin, though. What I'd do is 9 per for fragmented chaos and get reckless at level 1. FC is huge crit damage so you should wear crit goggles too. Sounds like a huge damage build.

Anything with a shotgun is viable.
Get a Vindicator, short barrel, ammo tube, watch the world burn.

im just a little while after depot a wheres a better shotgun I can get I made one earlier and its starting to lose it power, I could just buy one but thats lame, also ive never seen another shotgun if im being honest

Is mercantile worth the points? Everything feels overpriced as shit and I'm curious how effective it is.

Depends, what difficulty?
In dominating, most likely, specially if you plan to make super steel and jets
In normal, eh, not so much

i just finished junkyard > hathor and i havent seen any that are stronger than what i can craft.

I went merc and it's the uber jew skill. Eventually, 1 of your inventory guns will be worth every credit the cuck shopkeep has so you'll only be able to offload shit when buying gear.

No, those are side quests, not part of the main questline.

What's up with people that post on Yea Forums and the taste for these shit cheap ass games? Is it edgy teenagery or simply a symptom of some share mental condition?
Honest to God question.

>However it's adviced to finish a gang questline before entering Depot A
Welp about to go look for blane, already got the drill parts. Want to hit lvl 10 before going any further.

It's the right thread since it's one about an indie edgy game.
Why can't you answer like a normal person? Do you have a mental condition?

Side with the Black Eels
The reason why people finish a gang questline is because, all the items in corpses, all the items in lockers and shelves, all the items in the whole fucking base, everything, is for you to loot

wrong thread pal

It took me less time to kill everything in there myself than it did to complete the puzzle.

>Do you have a mental condition?
Do you?

Take your meds, schizo.
Anyone else? Or is this a one guy's thread, LOL.

What the fuck is an indie edgy game you ESL retard?

hey pal I think you got the wrong thread

when did Yea Forums get so lazy and why do people still fall for it?

Not him, but what is ESL?

Yes, I might have a few, but none that lead me to enjoy games that look like they were made by on guy in a garage.
That's why I'm so curious about why so many posters on Yea Forums are attracted by these cheap ass games.

How about you copy the 'ESL' part and google it, you actual helpless nigger

Because they are good.

I got a hotwire kit can I steal a car

No need to get rude, user

yes

ESL is english second language. It's not much of an insult considering people who call others ESL can most likely only speak English, making them bigger brainlets than the person they're insulting.

How so? They have shitty graphics. They play like shit. Stories are usually fanfic level.
It's almost like a fetish for games that are purposely made to look and play like garbage for a niche audience.

Of course it's my opinion, Aristotle.
I guess you disagree with my opinion and tha's fine, I assumed you did from the start, that was the very reason I was asking what is that you people enjoy so much in these garbage games.
I assume you are deflecting so much since you are mad af, but calm down, it's just an anonymous board. Who gives a fuck.
I know most posters here are contrarian edgy kids, but anyway, I'm still waiting for a somewhat coherent 90+ IQ answer for the appeal to this type of game.

But being a contrarian is fun!

You should try it sometime!

Big games are pretty much always safe, bland and designed by committee because they're all made by publically listed companies. Indie games made by one guy in a garage like this one tend to be the only source of real creativity and depth these days. You could never get a classic 90s rpg approved by a big publisher and you could never get a game like this made through them. lots of people are willing to put up with janky graphics for great gameplay too.

I did some stealth work for a shady guy at the bar, now he's inviting me for some action on the other side of the junkyard. How hard is this encounter going to be?

>How hard is this encounter going to be?
Stealth/10, don't even dream of trying to pick up a fight with anyone.

>lots of people are willing to put up with janky graphics for great gameplay too.

+1

Underrail, to me, is just a worse looking New Vegas. I tend to avoid indie pixelshit but I gave this one a chance and it was worth it. I just like RPGs a lot.

You mean abram?
Did you already implanted the bug?

So anyone trying to challenge your opinions is a troll, and you immediately fall back into contrarian edgy kid defensive mode?
When did Yea Forums turned into plebbit?
Geez.

I just found shanking people with a hammer is much fun

Jeez user, maybe people like turn based RPGs.
You aren't challenging anyones opinion by posting in a thread about how this game doesn't appeal to you and how others must be retarded for enjoying it. You are just wasting everyones time, including your own.

There've been threads since Expedition released. It was a long time coming, and it's pretty good (even though it's basically an escalation DLC choke full of bio damage, swarm of enemies, high resist enemies...).
Also that review was really disappointing after starsector's.

Just found out normal is the intended way to play. What the fuck, I could have sworn it was hard. Did Styg switch around the descriptions like when he removed the recommendation for Oddity?

I'm wondering how decent it would be to focus critical chance and critical bonus as a sword focused battler. The crit rate gets insane after one or two carves, and the base damage is so much higher than knives. I do end up having to sacrifice strength though.

How much does beginning build lock me into a playstyle? I'm thinking of going either psi or stealth.

How the fuck are you supposed to make enough money to buy jet skis. They cost insane amount of coins and I don't have mercantile.

In normal you got a HP buff, and unaltered hp on hard and dominating

>tfw ancient gamer
Do I just start on hard?

What's that got to do with anything?

Depends if you have an actual functioning brain or not
But if you didnt go extinct by now, grandpa dino, go for Hard

Skills don't lock you into anything but stats 100% do because feats require certain stat amounts. Feats are what define your build.

How do I deal with doppelganger shaman assholes. Just pray to RNJesus?

That normal difficulty is still hand holdy, Styg being a cheeky smug cunt because normal players feel like they are playing normally when in reality they are being helped a little

That's a hell of a lot of assuming on your part.

for a psi build should I go 10 int 10 will?

You can steal more than ammo, it's not even a big investment in points really, an effective 80-90 score lets you get most stuff easily, suspicion also cools down with time so there's really no reason to get higher pickpocketing than that, pretty good to have a side skill on high DEX builds.

just talk to briggs

You can buy 5 enzymes from the foundry butcher after finishing the beast quest

Just ride your jet ski to the south-east, but its a long boring ride to core city.

I'm guessing I'll never have sneak high enough to do dumb shit like in skyrim

OK, so I made a sword+board character. Crafted my first machete and riot gear set. Now, how do I not instantly die to guns? I have 10 STR, 7 or 8 DEX, 6 AGI, 6 CON, 7 INT and 3 everything else

>Now, how do I not instantly die to guns?
Don't get hit.

nigger im at 63% armor penalty how do I dodge bullets this ain't the matrix

Tactical vest. Energy shields. What do you need STR and DEX both for?

APEX HARDCORE

-items sold are worth 10% their regular price
-carrying capacity reduced by 50%
-can't drop items from your inventory for free (can still drop equipped weapons for free)
-grenade cooldowns are increased by 1 turn
-high efficiency energy converters nerfed to regenerating x% of energy lost to damage, at y% per round
-toxic gas simply deals bio damage each round/if moved through; no damage multiplication
-using psi abilities from 1 school will increase the action point cost of psi abilities from other schools
-forcefield functions as an energy shield against ranged attacks and has a certain amount of hp against melee attacks before failing (dependent on skill)
-all npc's have 30% greater detection & trap detection (bosses have 50% greater)
-bear traps dont function if they deal no damage, stronger enemies have shorter durations, and spotted traps use your traps skill vs their dodge
-some enemies will have black dragon throwing knives/crossbow bolts, and such traps can also be found
-randomized traps/locations
-enemy placement is somewhat random
-npc's that spot traps or corpses will turn orange and search the map (and pull alarms, if any)
-if spotted, all hostile npc's on that map will never turn back to green; yellow minimum
-npc's will not enter dangerous terrain (such as gas, fire, or traps) unless they have a clear path to you
-most hostile npc's, if they can't attack you on their current turn, will instead head for cover or distance
-if you are seen entering stealth in a controlled or partially controlled map, npc's will turn hostile
-gladiators past master exploder have improved builds with more feats, especially carnifex
-tribal bosses lead invasions; 1=old ice guy, 2=eldran, 3=bankraester, 4=oyensorm, 5=magnar
-Tchort will resurrect after a few turns as long as at least one mutagen tank is still active; how long depends on how many are active
-Eidein goes to DC before the invasion starts; he is present with tchort during the final battle

Attached: apogee.png (871x489, 836K)

Dunno, stat wise it says they both boost melee so I put some points into it. Also, I think I needed like 7 dex for flurry or something. Hopefully I can find a tactical vest then, is that like a component I can add to the riot armor?

>how do I dodge bullets
With your shield and guts, nigga.
You do have Riot armor with a shield, right?

just kill briggs

yeah I had to make it steel, not tungsten because I couldn't find tungsten plates
but I still get crit out the ass

Only real bangas can do that.

I suggest a re-roll, sword n board is not suited for beginners. Also your stat spread is screwed up.
Riot gears are the worst armor in game so unless you know what you are doing, best to stick to tac vest until your build picks up at lvl 20.

If I restart again I'm just going to end up not picking the game back up for another month. My first first character I played as a pistol using semi-psi guy with lots of trap skill, but I got bored and annoyed at using traps by the time I got to core city and I didn't want to restart, so I just stopped playing for a month. Now I'm midway through the junkyard and if I have to restart again I might just not come back to the game. Is there a way to use cheat engine to respec? But thanks

>there are people who didn't betray briggs the first chance they got / attacked his obnoxious ass out of spite right away

Yikes.

I hate to betray Briggs because as much as I despise him and the rest of Aegis outside of maybe Oldfield, Ladelman and Marcus are total bros.

Nah. Just handed Savage a cigar, said hi to everyone, doused briggs in acid and got out.

I'm okay with the techie, doc and yahota too. Even the guy in charge of ferrying you back to core city. The grunts didn't seem that bad to me, they're uptight career soldiers but they're not aggressive assholes like their CO.

lmao, did that really happen?

I seen cheat engine tables online, but i have never used it so you will have to test yourself.
In any case, if you want to continue on, then pump throwing, get grenadier and three-pointer, then start all engagements with flash-bangs, and your strongest grenades. remember to get cheap shot and crit power as well, tungsten straight machetes are can hit 300~400 crit bonus with those two feats. Also spec into ap cost and cool down reduction of shield bash so you can actually use that damn thing at lvl 20.

You're evidently using energy guns so it's fine, you got the basics down, although that Dex is kinda pointless, unless it's Dominating.

So you ran from a fight with pitbulls and are now trapped. So you dont have a save before the pitbulls? Wtf

Get an extra con for juggernaut.

How is his stat spread screwed up, besides that he seems to have more stats listed than he should. You either want 10 in strength for base damage, or 10 in dex for high crit, everything else is required for sword perks, 6agi for sprint I'm guessing.

I -think- if no camera caughts you red handed and if you dont leave any survivors, Core City doesnt get alarmed
But dont get close to any Protectorade soldier on a stolen protectorade jet ski

Ideal riot gear for sword n board is only 46% armor penalty, nimble and body weight traning drops it to 21%. At that level, there's no need for sprint. Dex and Int can stop at 6. This leaves 5~6 points which can be pump into Con for conditioning, juggernaut, thick skull, as well as survival instincts. Survival instincts is especially important, as the weab katana basically one-shots everything on a cit, and tungsten shields can hit for average 400 at end game.
Dropping Dex to 3, will also allow you pump Wil to get stoicism, which when build right, can give 100% natural physical immunity at single percentage digits of life

As a tin can, I always believed Stoicism is the least relevant of the 'tank' feats

the guy who made it is a cuck who refuses to let people mod it

>who refuses to let people mod it
And thats a good thing

SMG + sniper + throwing + traps + stealth master race here

>Sword and board
>6 dex
> no riposte

I see you have mastered this game and are above us humble plebs. If you want 3 dex you should literally just not play swords. I definitely agree with lower int in favor of con and survival feats though.

It is; it's the psynergy with morphine, conditioning, and Last Stand that make it what it is. having the ability to negate morphine's missing health pop with last stand gives just sooo many turns of being ungodly tanky at lower % health

Okay I will, but just before reminding you that you will never -ever- be able to mod the game to insert your shitty hentai-eske anime porn waifu mods

Tah tah

Stoicism is the best tank feat, with iron gut + aegis + stoicism at 50% hp, you can become immune to bio damage.
Max spec stoicism at 20% hp + aegis gives 45% resistance to ALL damage types, and with morphine and spec last stand, you can become practically invincible for at least 4 turns at will.
This of course is entirely gear independent, so you can run around with 20% armor penalty if you want to.

Hey hey people

Eh, dex breakpoints for energy pistols sit at 10 for 4 las pistol shots/turn or 14 for 5. at least your throwing and lockpicking are godly

Very meme'y

Mercantile doesn't affect sell price, retard.

>Riposte
>Getting hit by melee when everything dies in one hit

I have a level 25 sword n board on dominating, and I regret 6 Dex, because everything has a 50% chance of dying in one hit from either my shield or my sword.
With temporal contraction, flash bangs and adrenaline, my char can hit 6 times per turn, and have 2 turns to massacre everything. That averages to 6 dead enemies to start a battle off.

SnooPINGAS usual I see.

Seriously though, make the world a better place by neckng yourself and write a letter blaming it on your fucking youtuber 'influencer'. Remember to type it up, nobody can read your retard scrawl handwriting.

it would unironically look worse if you were maxing agility, because it strangely feels like the least "combat" base stat despite its impact on dodge and evasion.

I guess that's good, I'd rather pump up WIL for better PSI defense or PER for more crit damage with maxed out Critical Power, but that's just me.
Not like it matters much even on Hard either way, as long as you have 10 INT and 9 PER you're already done with the build stat wise, the rest is different icings.

how viable is it to play this game without any psi powers whatsoever?

In games like these I always prefer to be the standard pistol shootman just using wits to fight psychics/mages/etc..

OKAY
SO I FIGURED OUT HOW TO SEQUENCE BREAK THE JETSKIS WITHOUT PORT ZENITH
Requires that you have whatever the lockpick requirement is for the gate at ray's store
So obviously you need to walk in and hotwire a jetski however, if anybody in core city sees you on that jetksi, they will become hostile
It's fine if rays' camera sees you stealing the jetski, nobody cares
so what you need to do is steal it and drive away from core city
find some random zoner on a jetski and steal his jetski
now you have a jetski and people in core city aren't mad about it
I haven't gone that far with it yet so maybe ray will actually be mad when he shows up and then everybody else too

Attached: file.png (315x284, 147K)

Still viable, if a little bit more challenging
In normal, with proper guidance (and functional brain by your part), you play with no major issues

Also ballistics pistols right now are somewhat underpowered, pales in comparison with chemical or energy pistols

well, grenades aren't out of the picture. I'm fine using anything that isn't supernatural.

I haven't looked too much into the game mechanics yet, is there something like Drone Control in the Shadowrun games?

>Drone Control in the Shadowrun games
Cant say much because I havent played Shadowrun games, but about grenades:

See

its a 1 man army kind of game. the closest thing to a summon is one of the psychic powers.

Helmets are for protection.
NVG are for offensive shit.

but why cant you have NV in a helmet? why cant you wear goggles over a balaclava?

Shields aren't cray anymore and using swords without Flurry is as stupid as using sniper rifles without Aimed Shot.

you can make him drink his own potion
By force

>46% armor penalty riot gear
>juggernaut, which only works when main armor piece is over 50%
Am I missing something here?

boots add armour penalty

Because they do different things. NVG are more susceptible to flashbangs while helmets are immune to them. Balaclava+any goggles would give too much benefit. It's all for balancing.

its the armor that counts, not boots/helmet

okay nevermind ray's camera totally matters
it makes all the praetorians mad at you if it sees you
but I'm pretty sure if you steal the freighter the camera won't see you and the requirement for that is 100 lockpicking which I do not have yet

yeah, just reloaded and shoved it down his throat
free crawler poison, nice.

juggernaut doesn't count boots or helmet penalty, bre

Based janny

top tier tungsten ~80 block
shield arm ~ block *1.3
boarding up ~ block * 2
crit ~ dmg * 2
80 *1.3*2*2 = 416

And that's without taste for blood or spec into shield bash block/dmg, with spec, and taste for blood, damage goes up to ~1000
In dominating, most end game enemies have ~600 hp, so a plasma grenade and a shield bash should kill most enemies.

>Flurry
Justify hitting a guy 3 times when a weab katana hits for 800~900 on crit with crit power and cheap shot.

>how viable is it to play this game without any psi powers whatsoever?
Very. Also, psi users have to take a pill at the start of the game that permanently reduces their max HP by 25%, so not being a psyker means you have slightly more HP.

On the other hand the new spell school they added in the expansion shakes things up considerably since Temporal Manipulation's best utility spells don't scale with anything, you just need the minimal skill level to cast them. None of the related feats have any stat requirements either. This means that even if you have shoddy stat allocations for a psyker (3 WIL) and stop leveling up the skill at 55 or 70, those best skills' effectiveness won't suffer, and ho boy they're powerful: at 25 you unlock Increment that reduces ALL skill cooldowns by one turn, Contraction at 55 is one of the rare skills that increases AP for a few turns with no downsides and it stacks with other AP-related items, whereas Stasis enables you to shut down an enemy entirely for few turns or cast it on yourself and let your other cooldowns run their course in perfect safety. They're spells that literally all builds benefit from.

turn that 15 AP cost to 10 and get a 2nd hit if necessary

I'm not saying that flurry is shit, but when you do a sword n board build, you would already have 10 str, so in the case of a high str build, that 1 bonus crit and flurry is honestly nothing compared to higher con for HP or higher str for accuracy.
>turn that 15 AP cost to 10 and get a 2nd hit if necessary
3 turn cooldown if you miss or do no damage, guess what stat helps to hit and do dmg at 10 str, 6 dex?

Why don't you post a screenshot instead of all that dumb math?

I called Newton a wussy too many times and now he won't talk to me. Wat do?

Math can be cross checked with the wkii brainlet.
Besides, ppl can say my screenshot is pre-patch where shields did 4.5k damage.

Where is the earliest spear I can get in this game?

just make them have tradeoffs
night vision goggles exist in game AND real life
so why can't you just mount them on the helmet?
would be way easier than forging metal armor.

What are the various types of shotguns and which is the best? I've just been using the Despot because I've had a hard time finding other frames.

armory man in SGS usually has one right when you first start, sometimes he doesn't though. you could just restart until he offers one, it takes like 30 seconds to see if he's got one.

Just hover over the Shield Bash skill and it'll list the damage. Nothing to do with crit stuff.

underrail.com/forums/index.php?topic=4546.0

i have no idea if short or long barrel is better

Short barrel increases damage with a wider spread angle while long does the opposite.

FUCK HOW DO I SURVIVE SILENT ISLES IF THERE ARE GORILLION PSI BUGS AND RATHOUNDS AND A SHADOW ME

also, should I ignore crafting? I think putting craft skill points is overextending my skill pool

stay in the light

i know. i just dont know which is actually better for dps. ive been sticking with long since everything on dominating has such high evasion.

okay
and how important is crafting

Recklessness on a sword build?

Kill the mooks one by one or drag them by Broderick so he massacres them for you, if you stay by the lantern's light you won't spawn doppels, but as soon as you get away from its radius the countdown will begin, you can stop them from spawning and learn to spawn them yourself on other people if you have high enough WIL and Thought Control to interact with the monolith.
>also, should I ignore crafting?
Worst possible decision ever.

Just for you

Cool.
I still wouldn't go lower than 6 dex.

is only viable anti-crawler tactic just setting entire area on fire?

A bear traps is fine too.

>enter combat
>sprint, contraction, jumping bean
>run around at max speed to bump into them
>premed + electrokinesis
>whack away with sword

or

>run into middle of open area
>cast stasis on yourself

You can sort of cheese them with force field. Stand next to a bend in the wall and force field yourself to the wall in a way that leaves a tile that neighbors the tile you're standing on empty. The crawler will try to attack you but cannot because the natural wall and the force field prevent it from attacking diagonally. This means the crawler will chill one tile away from you for the duration of the force field, allowing even blind people to detect them.
If this doesn't make too much sense I'll tr to illustrate in paint when I have some time, fuck posting from work.

what's the best way to deal with poison in this game

I'm a based steel armor chad so the little ones don't really do anything to me

should I just stack up on antidotes and use them willy nilly

>not sprint + jumping bean + exothermic aura and setting the whole fucking cavern on fire
lighting the area on fire reveals stealthed creatures too
too bad the fuckers cheese it by clinging to the ceiling, they get a free hit when they drop down on you, and THEN their AI spazzes out due to fire

shields block the poison, but you gotta kill quick.

The little ones don't do anything to you and the big ones inject you with a debuff that makes healing items decrease your hp instead of increasing it.
There isn't much you can do. Tank the poison and attack with all your might.

finally able to dominate these bastards.

Is this the kind of game you need to read wiki for about a week to enjoy it?

there's a wiki everytime you hover over an item in-game.

>should I ignore crafting?
it's like you didn't even watch the video

no but if you don't you'll wish you had

is there a game where the amount of your body that is armored plays an even bigger factor than how good the armor is? I can't stand when you are supposed to be a walking tank yet a good portion of your face and neck are completely exposed.
Stupid.

so I didn't join the expedition
what happens if i just let them lose

Attached: file.png (1694x1081, 1.92M)

understandable.

riot and metal armor cover your head even if you dont have a helmet equipped.

save beforehand and find out for yourself
you know, what you're supposed to do in these types of games

> t. Zoomer

but doesnt that only work with one at the time?
seems like nonflamable armor + fire everywhere is still best option

I asked because I don't want to wait 30 years for 20 enemies to take their turns over and over and maybe somebody else already tried this

Fuck this Gauntlet shit, this is some autism.

Are there games like Underrail for mobile phones?

You can speed up combat speed in options

>have to carry around a Jackknife because it increases lockpicking and then constantly swap weapons if I find locker that without equipping it I can't open

This is stupid game design.

Yeah, I hate skill bonuses from anything. I want my character build to be independent from items.

I'm looking for Abram in the caves and siphoners keep popping out of water and scaring the shit out of me.

you went too far

I assume he means the whole having to equip the knife and then switch to it if you're not already on that slot to get the bonus. As opposed to it just giving the + stats bonus passively by simply having it in your inventory.

Oh, user, if the light splash of siphoners scare you, wait for the EARTH SHATTERING crab spawns.

I mean both. If you'll have an item like that then make it a passive bonus. Guess what? It not only needs to be equipped on you but you also have to switch to it with X.

I sort of figured cuz it wouldn't really make sense for a meeting spot to be past a bunch of dangerous frog monsters, but I explored the caves immediately west of the junkyard gate and I don't see him. At first I thought it was some kind of trap because I saw a small building and thought that's where he must be, and instead I got ambushed by thugs.

Is there a consistent source of empty shotgun shells? I'm having a hard time getting enough for 3p.

what's the most useful psi if I also wanna use shotguns

imagine not siding with based Black Eels instead of Scrappers

TM is usable with a 70 point dip and 3 will and gives you basically solely utility magic

outside of the usual dipping, maybe metathermics for thermo destab.
55 is pretty great too

That seems kind of risky for shotguns.

regular, high res digital or anatomically aware for cyclone?
playing as sneaky type with bits of psi

there's maybe some synergy with endothermic aura and leading shot too

You're in the cantina and this guy slaps your girlfriend's ass. What do you do?

Does Critical Power affect shotguns? I feel like I have to ask after finding out Expertise doesn't (and doesn't make any special mention about it).

It's wonky right now and behaves weirdly with Fragmented Chaos. Pretty sure Styg confirmed that was a bug but put off dealing with it to revisit Critical Power as a whole.

>mfw Depot A for the first time
Time to put that 500 charons left to good use

That was actually going to be my follow up question. So for a heavy shotgun/sniper build would it be just better to go just for Critical Power and forego Fragmented Chaos?

I get railroaded into quests to find artifacts that really don't concern me and then get a few hundred dollars of monopoly money for my troubles.

Depends on how often you plan on using the sniper rifle but in general yeah. If you've already got Aimed Shot then yes.
