cube world = poorfags who couldn't afford minecraft but still wanted in on the "good old days" they never go to experience. having this on steam won't fix this problem and you will never relive those times.

He says that he still wants to update it, as it doesn't have everything he wants yet, but is confident that the version he has right now is "Fun". I'm not sure if the pet stuff is still in or not.

The 16 min gameplay looked pretty good to me and that is still just level 1, which was honestly the weakest part of the game in alpha aside from it's repetition

Everyone enjoyed the beta version 6 years ago, so the final version should at least be decent...?

I'm fucking excited. I remembered this game about a month and saw there had been absolutely fuck all updates or info for years, now this.

I thought the dev cut his losses an ran a while back. Not sure whats interesting about this game besides the absurdly long development time.

It was more about the features that were promised all that while ago. The base game was solid and alright like you said, but it has stupid big potential. Now with a bunch of the stuff put in, we will see how it goes. It could still end up super repetitive and only fun for 10 hours or so. It will really depend on just what the content of these "Grand Quests" ends up being.

These are going to be really good. Really put that climbing system to work. I hope some of them are going to have like underwater sections too, since cooking can now make you immune to lava damage and drowning. Multiplayer is going to be a bitch though if you have a rogue going around and stealthing to the boss. It takes like 3 days for dungeons to respawn after a boss has been killed now, so to prevent the old jank where bosses reset at midnight.

game's aesthetic looks kino at the start there, but out in the sunlight and stuff with the green grass it falls apart for me

Does anyone have a clue how multiplayer will work? Will it be similar to mc where one can host a server? Or will it all be one big mmo world? Or are you able to join others people worlds with your character like in terraria?

I'm assuming you join the host's world and either spawn by them, or spawn where you were and use your flute to teleport to them
I find the concept of the world being ONE BIG FUCKING SEED instead of being able to choose one, should fix that whole rushing items early or repetitive farming in particular seeds you knew had them

It is seamless drop in and out. Because there is only one seed now, all you need to do is click on a friends name to join you or them and be instantly brought to each others game. Then you can teleport directly to them and then once done with your adventure together, you can go back to what you were doing, or stay there.

Kind of like an always online MMO thing, but also not.

I wonder how leveling will work with that system tho. Like, will you need to have a character exclusively to play with your friends? Can you play with your main? Or will the power gaps ruin the experience? Really can't wait to see how that shit works

minecraft was like 20 bucks back then and cube world was like 15 bucks.
Do you really think someone would buy Cube World over Minecraft because of 5 bucks, especially considering Cube World required a better graphics card back then?

One of my main complaint about the Alpha were the boring dungeons that were just open spaces with enemy groups.
This really makes me exited for the actual release

Leveling, from what Wollay said about it. Seems entirely handled by the Artifact system. So you get enough of them and can be considered as 'level 2'. Quests are dynamic and infinitely generating, so a new artifact should be able to pop up in an old area, simply on the logic that new things have taken up residence of a dungeon after it respawns and traders and what not have come in. So it shouldn't matter if you are playing co-op or not. If you are playing multi, everyone receives a copy of the relic as well.

That's interesting. I may still roll multiple characters for group sinergy and whatnot, but it's a good thing that someone missing a play session won't be falling behind if you can just go back into their game world and help them get artifacts

The bulk of someone's power isn't artifacts anyway. It still seems to be gear and you get handed the stuff every quest you complete it seems as well as some quests giving you a big crafting book for ever more stuff. With the removal of the Power system and just being able to equip gear as soon as you get it and instead the power of your gear going down when entering a new area. It seems like it won't be much issue becoming really powerful. I just wonder how that system will work overall. Like, will gear from all areas be slightly less powerful when it isn't in it's home area? Or let's say that depending on what is the latest area, means that all previous areas can use any gear just fine.

I don't want to be constantly swapping gear based on what area I am in and I also hate to imagine gear becoming completely shit after just a few hours of play, every single time. I mean, I'm use to that kind of grind in MMO, but Alpha did allow you to keep your gear going for much longer periods of time, either because it's power still wasn't being completely out classes, or skill could make up for it.

Sounds like every separate area will be like starting a new game. Not completely against the idea, makes it so traveling to a new zone will not be a faceroll from you on the enemies or vice versa

Yeah, it's going to be very strange. Even more so if you have to get things like the Glider over and over again. We already know that certain instruments won't open secrets everywhere, so you'll need a new one every area. I just can't imagine the same will be true of the Glider, or at least that you'll need things like a new sail for the boat to get it up to full power for the area. It should be easy to instead take the speed down a bit, but still make it functional. Just like how your mana and health regen can be taken down by which ever faction is in the area.

This just sounds like area-based level scaling.

People only said it's 4 because they thought that is how many could be in Alpha, but that's wrong. You can have a lot more, but the UI wouldn't display more then 4. We haven't seen a party in any screen since after the UI change and Pixxie hasn't said otherwise. So no one knows for sure.

People were interested in Cubeworld because at the time Minecraft had like 5 enemy mobs and people wanted a world actually worth exploring.
CubeWorlds idea was further developed with the MMO Trove but that went to shit quick.

No, it use to have a basic building system, but he's gotten rid of it. It might come back later, once more stuff for the other systems are done.

It was planned but scrapped in the engine rewrite, it might come back since wollay has said that he's going to be adding content updates post release.

As of now no, it's all based around exploring

Honestly the area based progression sounds miserable if it is what it seems like it is.
It's going to be incredibly frustrating if gear becomes less powerful and I suddenly can't use my boat/glider anymore just because I walked into a new region.

I'm also concerned about the fact that if every area scales to you or you scale down or whatever, what the fuck is even the point of powering up at all?
If both the deadlands and a peaceful green forest area can both be challenged at level 1 what's even the point of progression.
Sounds like you would just be doing the same grind over and over again.
I'm hoping wollay wouldn't be stupid enough to actually make the system work like this.

I also noticed in the mage gameplay video that one of the drops had a "+" attached to it's name, it had "Area Name+" too instead of just the area name listed on the item, so who fucking know what that's about. I wish he would just explain how it all works.

He got Ddos'd, it caused his anxiety to flair up and he got depression because he didn't think he could make a game to people's expectations and then decided to work on it without talking to people about it to calm down. It's taken 6 years for him to finally work up the guts and think he had something worthy of showing off. People are hoping he's right and won't just release, only to get bombarded again and then disappear again.

I'm sure that is why he wants to update the website. Rather then trying to explain it himself in a video, either through speaking or annotations. Just have a documentation that people can go over. It's a lot of stuff to write up though, I hope he isn't starting from scratch.
