Thoughts?
what's the appeal of this series?
The cute guys.
looks great.
Looks generic as fuck. I'll pass on this release and wait for the special edition with action combat when the original tanks.
Looks fantastic.
Not 100% sure what I think about your party members following you around.
Why wouldn't they? It's fun roaming the streets with your little gang.
I'm just wondering how that's gonna affect the exploration aspect if they're following you around everywhere. Like if you're squeezing into some alley and they follow you but you need to get back the same way you came, but can't because they're blocking the way.
i still don't know why they made combat turnbased. For party management and interactions this type is convenient, but why you need party in Yakuza in first place?
Like why they thrown away yakuza gameplay like that? It was fine, and they probably could still make it better. Bizarre thing to me
Probably just push them out the way.
Bonus points if you actually push them over and call them a bitch.
It looks fun, but the gameplay demo really made the combat look dull in comparison to the PV. Also is this the same Korean Eric Andre mutt from the mobile game?
It appeals to male fantasy
Still not ecstatic about them dropping the beat-em-up aspect but looks like a lot of fun otherwise.
are yakuza really like this in japan?
Looks good
will buy
>quiz about the town
how are they going to localize this?
>Job system as substitute for styles
If other party members also have this, then it's going to be fucking kino.
The same way they did it in 5 with Haruka and Sotenbori which was to just ask you questions about things you see in the town (How many trees in it, what's the name of the park, etc).
So I just got into the series and played Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1 and they have some relatively small differences like the skill tree changing and the combat styles getting better but that can be attributed to story reasons and it felt OK as the rest of the games were very similar.
Just started playing Kiwami 2 and everything is different from the UI to the combat (Kiryu no longer has styles but he does moves from all his previous styles in his arsenal?) to the lighting and not having to load into shops or battles.
Why's it so different? I thought the entire point of Kiwami to bring the old games to the new gen and standardize them but Kiwami 2 is like something entirely different.
well atleast they're being honest about yakuza combat being turn based now instead of pretending the player has the same freedom that the cpu does
> I thought the entire point of Kiwami to bring the old games to the new gen
Well no shit, Kiwami 2 uses the new Dragon engine which what 6 used.
Why the fuck would they switch from what they had to turn based
Why the fuck did they do this, there’s not a single person on earth that asked for this
Zero and Kiwami 1 use the old engine, same as 3 to 5. Yakuza 6 introduced a new engine, which was then also used in Kiwami 2.
K2's on the Dragon Engine while 0 and Kiwami were on 5's so the game will naturally play differently. Styles are also not a series staple, it's random if they decide to use them or not. Kenzan started it, then they didn't exist again until Ishin, and then 0 and Kiwami built off of Ishin's style system, 6 and K2 didn't have it, and then Judgment had it again. The Black Panther games also have styles but they're handled far differently than any other game in that you choose one for battle and that's it.
Kiwami 2 is based around Yakuza 6, which was a huge change in the series, while zero was just like a refinement of the previous entries, keep in mind that Zero was really a PS3 game.
Good looking japanese guys to look at.
I still don't really know how to process this.
Just for the love of don't have the encounter rate being fucking skyhigh at least.
All of the side activities look fun and the combat looks a lot better than I thought originally.
>Still no PC announcement for Judgement
When will you fucking learn, Sega
portbeg elsewhere, faggot
hope they'll release a public demo soon
so far most of what I've seen looks fun and I'm excited to play it
can't wait for the western version like six months later
no they shoot you.
We need more non fantasy RPGs.
>don't have the encounter rate being fucking skyhigh
From the gameplay footage it looks like your normal Yakuza fare (Meaning every other street corner pretty much) but they have way longer times to notice you. So far their biggest problem seems to be that they have massive gangs blocking the entire road with no way to avoid them without going the long way around on some streets, but on the bigger roads there's huge berths to avoid them with. It's really odd how they balanced it, Japan has a concrete date while the west is a generic 2020 so they'll probably use Japan to tweak stuff with patches before we actually get it like usual.
>OP's pic is okay but Dead Souls was not
>old battle system
>Shit AI
>the goons just standing around while you beat the shit out of them
>RPG battle
>literally nothing changed with this turn based system
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA
I JUST REALIZED THIS SERIES WAS USING RPG BATTLE THE WHOLE TIME.!
actually looks good now. ichiban is lookin hype
And to think series started with dark story about japanese crime organizations.
Enemies actually attack you now so there's that I guess
>but why you need party in Yakuza in first place?
They've talked about the story in particularly being about a party of people and not just one guy mauling everyone else for once
