Just bought this game on my Switch, seems good so far, it will get harder though right? I am hoping at least Donkey Kong Returns temples hard.

You wasted your money.
It will get fiendishly difficulty, but unfortunately it is hard to talk about on Yea Forums at the moment. The difficulty curve scales up and it will teach you the techs you need for the advanced levels, but also keep a level head and look for secrets. Every level has a hidden crystal heart hidden behind a puzzle, and a B-side cassette tape hidden elsewhere, which unlocks the B-side of that level. To progress through the hardest stages, including the hellish chapter 9, you'll need to collect those crystal hearts. Have fun, user.
>buying trannyshit
Back to retardera with you
Oh yeah! I am feeling the secrets! I uncovered some randomly when i dashed into walls. I didn't expect it to to work, I just thought I'd try it because it was something in some SNES games. But there it was! I love it!
at least play the game before shitposting about it
It gets a lot harder.
Also don't bother with chapter 9 until you beat chapter 8C or 8B at the very least.
Don't bother with him.
The outrage crowd doesn't play video games.
It gets much, much harder. The DLC especially is a ball buster
Haha GAAAAAAY
Have fun with the best indie of 2018, user.
>t. ranny
I got it for free from Epic store last week :^)
It's a seriously great game, even if you don't like the story the gameplay is excellent.
Ignore the contrarians whining and trannyposting, if a tiny flag in a game triggers you that much you need to get help.
>Story Driven game padded by challenging kaizo-style but extremely lenient linear platforming
that's a hard pass, my dude.
The b-sides and c-sides are hard, the normal game is a bit challenging, but not hard.
no one even noticed this for months after the game came out and now suddenly it ruins the whole thing?
get fucked
It was always a tranny game. The main designer and composer are literal trannies.
Because it is new you retard.
Well shit. At least with my Switch i can take it on the go though, or play it if the power goes out.
The lead designer is? I knew the composer was because she's cute enough for Yea Forums to consider her one of the okay ones.
Good choice, user, I hope you're having fun with it. It is pretty hard, but has a proper learning curve.
It starts off pretty easy, gets harder later on. The optional stuff you get late in the game gets fucking insane.
Great platformer, ignore the people who are mad about colored rectangles.
Power doesn't go out if you live in a first world country.
I found my first B-side thing in level 2. i feel so dumb it took me a 4th time though the level to see the path though. I was trying to get thought eh frozen hole in the wall during the chase this whole time.
Nah, Matt Thorson is a dude. He calls himself non-binary but that's completely meaningless.
It does when you live on the coast where it storms all the damn time.
It blew my mind when I realized that he's the same guy who made "An Untitled Story." I thought that was some literally-who kid. I'm glad he made it big.
You'd think they'd put something in place to try to prevent it if it's that frequent. We have underground power cables here in some areas that never go out even in a horrible storm, but we almost never get storms.
This is new, it's part of a DLC
YIKES!
Underground building isn't possible in a swamp unfortunately. But at least I have my Switch
>that wavedash into wallbounce on a moving block
JUST
>game
>padded by gameplay
8/10 if bait
Shit's fuckin' nuts, yo.
>you play a cute trap
>Yea Forums somehow finds this unappealing
>thinking b-sides are tough
Oh my sweet, innocent child...
It does get more difficult, but here on Yea Forums we prefer discussing trannies, abortion, and Tumblr over gameplay.
chapter 9 is like a fucking D-side
>Harder than B-Sides
So it's on the same level as Wings of Vi? I'm starting to regret I'm playing on a DS4 gamepad and not my mechanical keyboard. I remember I had to switch to my keyboard in Wings of Vi due to its very precise platforming.
Well I am having a good time overcoming this. Not like I have not played harder, but it is pretty good so far.
That's good, Celeste is supposed to have a gradual difficulty curve from easy to hardish to "welcome to hell" tier, but only once you've proven you can handle that.
Maybe I'm just a casual, but the earlier B-sides are about right in difficulty for me; in the later B-sides I'm basically having to memorise inputs rather than playing reactively, which I find a lot less fun
You just bought a tranny game you faggot
I spent a fucking hour on that goddamn room
Same, user. That webm is half pure luck.
Dude, it will get way harder than those. The optional endgame content of this is insane.
>it will get harder though right?
If you do the B-sides, extremely.
I got this game for free and still felt ripped off. It's a one-trick pony comprised of challenge rooms.
babby couldn't even beat the A sides
YASS QUEEN
One of the best platformers in recent times. Better than Super Meat Boy too.
>that moment during the game awards when the composer came out to present an award
>obviously a mentally ill dude playing dress up
>see numerous posts calling "her" cute in the sticky
>"she" speaks
>immediately see disgust reaction images in the thread
>mfw
Yea, that's actually lore appropriate. I needed pills too after trying to beat those C sides.
When did she speak? I tried to find it in the official VOD, but only matt spoke l
Chandelure
>triggers /pol/ cucks
Why would it do that? Personally I think the game is absolutely fantastic, just started Chapter 8 B-Side. The music is fucking great, even though it is made by a tranny.
Speaking of trannies, I don't buy this whole Madeline is a tranny. Straight people can have LGBTQMSAA & Tranny flags to show support for movement, it is not uncommmon. The pills were obviously antidepressant and girls having short hair is also not something uncommon. If she was indeed a tranny there would have been dialog, especially with Badeline, which would imply it. Like her saying that people wouldn't accept who she is or something similar. There is none of that.
I have played Kazio levels before, and they are pretty good. Also I got my first heart.
chapter 9 is a 3 hour kaizo level and that's a good thing
I agree, i can't wait to get to it.
>imagine getting the casual filter
My only real compalin about the game is the assit mode begin way to easy to use
it should be behind a command launch option
do the B-sides and maybe the C-sides first
9 is definitely the hardest thing in the game
It's more puzzle than kaizo, as half the time is spent actually trying to figure out what you're supposed to do, then trying to do it.
FILTERED
some kaizo levels are like that too
and those jellyfish jumps are basically just more lenient shell jumps, it's fun
>chapter 9 comes out
>only have done one or two B sides and none of the C sides
>haven't played in over a year so I'm rusty as hell
Feel like I should just start a new file and work my way up to it.
>switch
>supporting sjws
Always nintendo.
celeste was fucking shit.
i actually hate 2d platformers, so i dont know why i bought into the hype. but it was shit
>I didn't like a game from a genre I don't like therefore it's shit
yeah that's what i said. problem?
Funny thing about the jellies, I spent an hour trying to get the key in the upper left because I was trying to dash jump like in the lower right jelly jumps, but the solution was staring me in the face until I stopped being stubborn and thought about what the level was trying to have me do instead.
Stubbornness just won't work in chapter 9.
You're an idiot forcing yourself to try and like something you didn't to begin with.
no one asked you MATE
Fucking based.
agree
i got it for free from 1337x
I think that sounds like a good idea. Better to start from scratch so not to miss anything.
The regular chapters are fun and build up the difficulty decently as it goes along, more about teaching you the fundamentals than anything
The B-sides take every chapter to the next level and eventually introduce (require) advanced movement mechanics
The C-sides demand precise and complex sequences of inputs that push each chapter's gimmicks to the limit. But they're balanced out by being a lot shorter than the other levels, just a few screens long each (even if they're some of the longest screens in the game).
Chapter 9 is hell. Starts off at lategame complexity while introducing several new mechanics and then steadily builds it up further into B- and C-side difficulty and even further beyond, and this time it's a gauntlet of over 100 screens which use elements from every Chapter and require every advanced movement tech in the game.
My first 100% took me 30 hours and around 10k deaths, coming back to it a few months later loosening up for the DLC it took just 8 hours and 2k deaths, once you "solve" a screen once it gets a lot easier to deal with.
Chapter 9 has taken me several more hours and another 2k deaths on its own and I still haven't cleared the final screens.
You're actually required to clear up to 7B before you can attempt the real bullshit in Chapter 9, it requires wallbouncing so it's locked behind 15 Crystal Hearts just like Core B.
I was stuck on the same room for some time, it just didn't occur to me that bouncing them off the wall would let me updash them
>You're actually required to clear up to 7B before you can attempt the real bullshit in Chapter 9,
You can actually skip the heart gate with a well placed wavedash/hyper but most players won't know that unless they did 8C
No problem, just wanted to make sure you are aware of how retarded you are
This is how a game should be. My biggest complaint about the last Mario game was that it didn't push its ideas as far as they could have gone. Was hoping they'd make some DLC down the line for their hard core fans.
Oh boy, here we go...
>that part in chapter 9 where they start mixing different stage gimmicks in ways you didn't see in the base game
based
red bubbles and wind is my favorite, it's cool seeing hot and cold core mechanics together too
Odyssey is the smoothest Mario's controlled in a while, probably since Sunshine, and it's wasted on such simple platforming. So disappointing
Have fun user.
>Clear all the C-sides on a fresh file to loosen up for Chapter 9
>Variant mode has been unlocked!
What the fuck is this
Too bad sunshine never got a romhack/modding scene like 64
Just optional modifiers to make the game harder, basically the opposite of assist mode. Mirror mode is cool as hell though
The floating jellyfish mechanic is kino as fuck. It is the most satisfying mechanic to do properly and just feels so right.
>Floating ice actually refreshes your jump outside of the Core
I wonder if it was already programmed like that or something they had to add
The wacky physics you could get tossing Theo around was one of my favorite mechanics and I'm really glad they made something to take advantage of it
fuck off with the trannie shit
I thought they were dull at first but they surprised me with how much mileage they got out of the mechanic. Mod makers are gonna do some shit. I hope the guy who did the D-sides pack is making one for 9
This game is really fun, but it is a damn eyesore.
Have fun. I liked the C-sides so much I perfected them. That one webm of 8-C that was floating around for a while here was mine.
Character sprites are too low detail but environments are nice enough, some very aesthetic color pallets (especially the DLC chapter desu)
>"oh my gawddd!!! my onions-indieshit game surprisingly became tranny positive!!! i could never foresee that my epic pixilated indie genre would finally be infested with (((their))) money!! what must i do, i feel so betrayed....
imagine actually caring
good video games are good video games, i don't care the worst person in the world made it
but i forgot this is Yea Forums you all don't play video games
h-hey, i at least beat it
You missed the final room and the real ending.
Yeah, I know about the moonberry, I plan to do it soon
Moonberry is not in the final room.
Oh shit there's more? Alright then, I better do that soon
You need to do chapter 9 deathless to get to the final room.
>You need to do chapter 9 deathless to get to the final room.
you fucking what
There is a final golden room if you bring the golden strawberry to the regular chapter 9 ending.
I am going to assist mode that shit and you can't stop me
Why bother? You aren't missing much. It's just a simple jellyfish room to fuck over nervous players going for the golden
if you're going to shitpost with wojacks at least pick an appropriate one dumbass.
He did though.
/pol/cucks legit fell for the abortion meme and get triggered just by looking at a little flag.
No
Fuck you
Don't do this to me
>Why no, I don't bitch about unimportant things in games I'd never buy. How did you know?
>Why would it do that?
Because /pol/tards are easily offended bitches
>months
The game is over a year old, and this scene was recently added to the game, about a week ago. Why would you enter a thread to shitpost about something you don’t even know the basics about? Get fucked you stupid ass retarded motherfucker.
I disagree. It’s feels far more like a platformer with overly long cutscenes breaking up the gameplay. The wouldn’t be so bad if half the story was lame and pretentious; only the ending is fantastic but the rest is just okay at best.
>Why would you enter a thread to shitpost about something you don’t even know the basics about?
Welcome to Yea Forums
>platformer with overly long cutscenes breaking up the gameplay
Virtually all cutscenes are only at the beginning and end of a chapter and they can all be instantly skipped
It's very good but the ending shits the bed
Madeline is not trans by the way. The pills are antidepressants and she literally just has short hair in that photo. The flags are there just cause the author is a neon hair tumblr shitter.
Even if the story wasn't revolving around her being depressed I don't see how people would see pills and short hair in their childhood as a sign of being trains
Literally impossible for boomers
I'm ashamed to say it took me a solid 8 hours to finish it. However, I attempted it again and only died 500 times.
Gee, you sound an awful lot like you care about this.
It's okay user, you did way better than me
You see, all boys have short hair and all girls have long hair. Only a mentally ill person would want to have the wrong hair length for their gender.
It's a very progressive game.
What controller do you use?
Dev talked shit about Alec Holowka
Dualshock 4.
Just beat chapter 9 a second time with my left thumb in agonizing pain because I didn't care to take a break and was playing much worse because of it.
Take breaks if you get stuck because this game gets exhausting physically and mentally later on.
Golden Strawberry just unlocks one easy room, the cutscenes don't even change
youtube.com
>purchasing a game pandering to trannie agenda
kek
I am using the Switch Joy Pads, I feel I might take longer than 8 hours
>one easy room
It's not that easy when your hands are uncontrollably shaking and your vision is blurring.
What am I supposed to do on the first stage with the lava blocks? I always run out of stamina and fall.
kill yourself
You want to grab them so that you can launch off them. Be careful of your positioning too as you might fly off into the wrong direction
No I know that, I mean in chapter 9, in the first room with the moving star pieces. Even if I grab the double dash crystal, I still run out of stamina by the second lava block, and I don't think I can walljump there to reach it.
This vid should help
youtu.be
Oh, it's just a kick off the rightmost platform to reach the crystal, I climbed around the left side. That explains why my stamina always ran out. Thanks, user.
There are multiple ways to beat that screen. Also, diagonal wall jump doesn't take stamina if you don't grip.
I played my first bit of the 8-bit mini game. Not sure about you guys, but that sucked. It was awful
Pico-8? That's the original beta of Celeste. It's mildly entertaining.
I missed only 2 strawberries and that was because they were close to the top of the platform and I went to the next screen instead of catching them. Made me so upset
Tranny game
I don't care about if is he or she...
I love her/his eyebrows...
And I love that he/she probably has a massive bush down there
>If you take medication you are an evil libural
Why are games with transexuality always about Male to Female? Where's the female to male representation?
why is censorship good?
The different physics in Pico-8 threw me off at first
I think what got me was how quickly you get back into instant platforming. Sometimes on platforms that are dying. Doesn't give you much of a breather.
>main character is a depressed girl named Madeline
>lead dev is a depressed guy named Matt
the game has always been pretty obviously about the lead dev's female self insert
doesn't change the fact that the game is fun and controls incredibly well tho
What do these symbols on the walls mean?
It's Madeline's dilation device.
Probably the old company's logo for the mountain for advertising tourism. Since the mountain forces people to confront their shadows and shifts in structure, nobody wanted to live there and bugged the fuck out.
How hard is the full game compared to the pico-8 version? I can beat that one in ~5 minutes.
>Platformer #367
>GOTY
Hard yikes
They signify the start of a section. Once you've cleared a level you can start at these points. It's the same as the | icons between the strawberries on the bottom of the pause menu (only visible on cleared levels).
