It's good. A mix of horror and jrpg.
The sequel is more sci-fi and plays like a RE clone, but still good.

Definitely finished, I wouldn't really call any part of the game rushed or incomplete. Probably one of my favorite PS1 games, and the weapon customization was way too fucking fun.

I never got how you could stomach the combat system. I really tried to like the game but the repetitivness of it got me to say fuck it almost 50 hours in, plus the plot was pretty messy from what I remember.

it's finished, it's just a bit shorter than you'd expect from the beginning, and weirdly paced. the first 1/3 is mostly exposition and the last 1/3 is mostly combat. one full playthrough is 7-9 hours. overall it's one of my favorite from that era though.

How's it unfinished? It's not exactly a long game, and it doesn't have that much story and dialog but I don't see how it's unfinished.

Aya is iffy because shes strong in one but in 2 shes supposed to be stronger but the gameplay doesn't really reflect it like her progression in 1 did. And we both know why 3 doesn't matter in this discussion. I feel like 2 had to tone a bunch of stuff down or else the re factor they went for wouldn't work out but honestly they should've gone all out and just amped up the enemy count for extra modes.

PE1 had boring powers. They're more useful in 2 as well as simultaneously more impressive and less over the top.

Like I mentioned in my post, she needed bailed out by barry quite a bit both in re1 and remake. Sure you can play differently to have it happen less but canonically he saved her a lot and even does it again in 3 with his private(aka stolen) chopper. Also she had a gun while chris didn't and he still rocked everything on his own with rebecca leeching off him.

Jill in 3 and after is pretty based though and makes short work of monsters when she's not a plot device.

All weapons will eventually end up with the same stats and abilities, so the only thing that matters is how quickly they attack. Pistols and SMGs attack the fastest, so they're the best.
