You cannot do trials without other players.
You cannot do raids without other players.
You cannot play PvP without other players.
The marketplace wouldn't exist without other players.

WoL is the muscle. The other Scions are warrior-scholars who are all exemplary in their fields of study and make way more sense as the team strategists.

You level up with the story. You unlock roulettes which gives bonus EXP when you complete them. The grind is non-existent for your first class.

If you start now make a character on a new or preferred server for bonuses. Your first character levels at a decent pace, but you'll be doing a metric ton of story missions. After that you'll be doing Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High and normal dungeons to level up. It's quite fast.

I haven't played many other MMOs, but I can tell you that FFXIV is dogshit until you get to level 30-50 (depends on your class). After that the story starts picking up and your class will slowly stop being incredibly boring and you can start enjoying the game, but the early game is a fucking slog.

You can always try the free trial which doesn't allow you to get past level 35 and prevents access to the story quests past a certain point so you can't really see the good parts of the game, but with those restrictions you can basically play for free forever so it will still give you a decent idea of what the game is like without having to take the plunge.

You can like a braindead caster all you like. No need to scream for nerfs where they aren't needed at all. Just ask fr buffs to your job and stop acting like a dumb faggot.

if you want to try the free trial, go ahead. any job is free to 35 and you can do it all on the same character. people say the game gets better after ARR but I think those first few levels give you a decent early snapshot of what the game is like. just be warned that there's a single player main scenario questline that the game railroads you into if you want to progress through the game and unlock content.

Listen user. Monk has a team buff which grants FIVE percent PHYSICAL damage increase to the team, meaning any fucking caster is a wasted on it. That's all they bring in terms of group damage buffs. You talk like this fucking class is a godsent in terms of buffing damage and doesn't deserve to do high damage itself. Meanwhile BLM sits in a safe spot spamming their fucking triple casts all fight long with no positionals and their salvia drooling from their mouth which they are mainly breathing from at the same time.

I feel like this would be something they could test in a side quest or solo duty. See responses, then plan something for future content.

I'd say it's about 100 hours for ARR and 50 hours for each expansion, so maybe 200 hours before you reach Shadowbringers, Maybe shorter if you skip cutscenes and ignore side content altogether. Some people will recommend against that since a lot of people enjoy the game for its story and characters, but that call is up to you.

the MSQ takes for fucking ever, especially in the beginning. you can level to cap nearly exclusively on that on one quest chain, so dont side quest too much, or if you do, level more than 1 class at a time

You know what the rDPS statistic is, yeah? It's a player's personal damage, plus the damage they give to others through group buffs. MNK is only tied with BLM when you take into account the DPS they give others through Brotherhood. MNK's own personal damage is definitively below BLM. In some cases their personal damage is equal to Samurai, in many cases Samurai is slightly ahead.

Why should a job have a lower rDPS statistic than a selfish DPS? If a job does 10000 DPS and gives 1000 dps to the party through buffs, why is that better than a job which just does 11000 DPS? Why does the group buff itself somehow mean that the job should contribute less overall DPS than a selfish job, even though the group buff offers nothing but damage? If you really want to argue that MNK should bring less rDPS than BLM because of its utility, then the utility you're talking about should be Mantra.

Also part of the reason Monk is currently so high is because the players are doing blatantly unintentional shit like the Anatman opener. Even though it's optimal, the job isn't balanced around it, so Monk currently does more damage than it "should" do theoretically. I'm hoping they change Anatman to prevent the Anatman opener at some point.

I'm 76 and barely managed to keep the tank alive during double pulls in the latter half, where I could handle wall to wall as WHM and even AST, but it felt like I was using everything I had except Dissipation (never much used that since I remember it was bad in HW and always better to have Eos).

I've done quite a lot of PvP in this game and I can sympathize with people who think the PvP is bad and won't participate in it. It revolves far too much around OP healers and blobbing your enemies with superior numbers. The skill ceiling is very low which means team coordination is the true way to victory, but unless you run premades this means that you have almost no ability to influence your team's chances of winning. Instead victory is determined almost entirely by who you get matched with and the map RNG.

the big difference is as a blm you get to pool your mobility options and choose when to use them.
Being able to run around half the time as rdm is overkill for 90% of that time, and then you get something like stormy horizon or pure beam where your 'mobility' is completely useless and you better hope you're in melee combo. Likewise for smn, you have zero control over where your trances overlap with mechanics and you just have to suck up the potency loss from ruin2 every time

To be fair, the good players don't feel like it has mobility up the ass either. It just seems that way if you're looking from the outside. The good player is planning and knowing the fight inside out and using everything perfectly when it should be, etc. He put effort into all of that. He is painfully aware of how immobile the job actually is because that's where most of his fight plan goes. What it "seems" like to someone who doesn't play the job and is just looking from the outside doesn't really matter, does it?

Eventually the DPS you're missing out on from lost GCDs/autoattacks is gonna outweigh the damage you gain from building the stacks. I don't know where that point actually lies, but considering that Anatman is only ever used to gain 1 stack I reckon making it trigger a long GCD recast would probably make it not worth it.

Of course the easiest solution would be to just make Anatman not build GL at all. It's kind of fucking stupid that it builds GL in the first place really, considering the move was obviously originally intended simply as a way to keep GL going through downtime. I think they had it build GL so you could use Tornado Kick before downtime and then rebuild with Anatman, but that's kind of just another consequence of Tornado Kick being a retarded ability that needs to be changed.

I'm honestly still frustrated that BLU gets nothing from the ARR raids. It was such a great opportunity to run full BLU alliances and actually get to see those raid's mechanics again for once.

Honestly it feels like they didn't know what to give RDM so they just threw two random skills in and called it a day

I made up to about 3.5 million and I stopped bothering because of that. Nothing was consistent, except stiperstone for a brief period. Shit would literally collapse in half by 24 hours. Though I think non collectabled stuff from previous expacs sells relatively well.

MNK is only comparable to BLM after you count MNK's contribution from Brotherhood. Selfish DPS aren't entitled to contributing more raid DPS than classes with synergy buffs, they're entitled to doing roughly the same, but not more, otherwise buffer jobs would be absolutely useless

You could in fact argue that buffers deserve to have a small DPS edge on selfish classes at the highest percentiles simply because more of their contribution relies on their team playing correctly, it should just not be anywhere as large of a difference as it was in SB.

1 dungeon and the ultimate are probably a given but haven't been outright confirmed yet. Also, I absolutely fucking guarantee you that not all of this shit is going to be in on launch day of 5.1. Assuming Ultimate is in, at the very least it will be delayed by 1-2 weeks. The BLU level cap increase might be in at launch but it could also easily be delayed a week or two or even as far out as 5.15. And imo NG+ and Ishgard Reconstruction are VERY likely to be 5.15.

People have to realize when they say that something is launching in the patch X.1, it doesn't mean it's going to be in the exact day that patch X.1 goes live. It means it's going to be added at some point before X.2, which is a 3.5 month window.

Only adding 1 dungeon just means it gets added to the current expert roulette pool, same as what happened in 4.1. In 5.2 they will add 2 dungeons and those two dungeons will become the new expert roulette with the 5.0/5.1 lvl 80 dungeons becoming level 80 roulette. We've been through this so many times now it's a wonder people still struggle to figure out what content there will be and end up letting their expectations run wild.

I too have wondered this, so I do something that most would rightfully consider retarded: I have CVB set to hotbars 213, and flip between them as needed. So I ended up double weaving while also changing hotbars sometimes. Main keys are 123QWE45R1*2*`, 1*2* being side mouse buttons, also 3* is the last key of hotbar 2. ` is reserved for frequent/important use abilities, like Iron Jaws or TBN.

Do trial mount drops improve when the next ex trial releases? Or is that only at the end of the expansion? I already have 2 of the 3 content mounts this patch but finding groups for the one trial for that last mount has been pretty annoying and I despise the idea of creating a pf group.

I just find it weird that E4S didn't have the 'giant boulder tether' mechanic. Generally story version has nothing unique over Savage in terms of mechanics.

I also find it pretty odd that nothing from phase 1 really comes back for phase 3. I feel like they could have worked car/landslide/bombs into it somehow.
