I started with (and still use) a Mayflash f500. It's pretty solid to learn on and not fuck huge like some of the more expensive sticks. Remember that everything can be swapped/modded so if you don't like the feel of the buttons/stick you can swap it out later for a few bucks.

Qanba drone is always cheap. It’s an okay starter stick and easy to mod.
A few sticks from the Ps3360 area are cheap. Avoid anything too 3rd party, except Qanba.
I would usually say avoid anything below 100, but times have changed and a few like the Drone are not bad for the price.

I have an old ass Qanba Q1 for my PS3. I really want to upgrade since it's trash, but I'm too poor. So I've just tried learning to play on pad.
