if you’ve never experienced the comfy bliss of exploring around Hogwarts at your leisure I feel bad for you desu
If you’ve never experienced the comfy bliss of exploring around Hogwarts at your leisure I feel bad for you desu
I feel you user, though I have fonder memories of Azkaban.
>ywn fly buckbeak around the castle again
>neo-Yea Forums is nostalgic for the fifth Harry Potter game instead of the much more comfier first and second games on the PS1
>>ywn fly buckbeak around the castle again
This was very cool as well.
I’m nostalgic for all of them desu I just think Phoenix had the best atmosphere for meandering aimlessly about Hogwarts. it’s certainly not the best game in the series in a conventional sense though
I remember liking the PC version of Chamber of Secrets better.
That was weird, they were completely different games, not just ports. I remember playing one on PC as well but after all these years I'm not sure if it was 1 or 2.
take me back
second and third games on pc were pure comfykino
oh and that quidditch game too
I remember booting up that game just to fly around Hogwarts. Great stress reliever
fuck, how did I forget this one
the snowy arenas were peak comfy
For Philosophers Stone and Chamber of secrets, PS1, PS2, GBC, GBA and PC all had different games.
So how different is Chamber of Secrets on PC? I've played the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox versions but never the PC one. CoS on PC seems more akin to Philosopher's Stone from what I've seen.
The first one is great too, if I remember correctly you can explore the castle at the end
>not being a hufflepuff
Was this actually good? I dont remember it being anything special
Which harry potter games are worth playing? So far I've played:
>Philosopher's Stone (PC) - Good
>Philosopher's Stone (GBC) - God Tier
>Philosopher's Stone (GBA) - Mediocore
>Philosopher's Stone (PS1) - Good
>Chamber of Secrets (GBA) - Mediocore
>Chamber of Secrets (PC) - God Tier
>Prisoner of Azkaban (PC) - God Tier
>Goblet of Fire (PS2) - Mediocore
Also it's really cool how different the versions of the game are from eacher.
the gameplay isn’t the best but it has the most fully fleshed out recreation of Hogwarts imo
at least it wasn’t pic related
more of a platforming game a bit desu
Play the console versions of Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban.
Phillosopher's stone, Chamber of secrets and prisoner of azkaban on the Gameboy colour and Gameboy advance are classical final fantasy style role-playing games
I’m glad that I’m not the only one who thought Goblet of Fire was a shit game.
All completely different and all great.
Snap. This continues for PoA.
There are a couple of variations of GoF, then it's all ports onwards.
Somewhere out there is a near complete version of PoA for the PS1 that was dropped.
>tfw no open world Hogwarts game that is a mix between a school simulator, an exploration game and a dating sim
I find it cool/interesting how they are all drastically different from one another.
I mean at the time it was shit because you didn't really know what you were getting, but in hindsight it is at least an interesting things to behold.
goddamn user, jealous of that collection
>there are a couple of variations on GoF
I had no clue, I’ve only played the one that was a sequence of linear levels. do any of the variants fare better than that version?
>tfw never got my letter
>tfw never got to study magic
>tfw never will know what it's like to ride a broom
>tfw no comfy boarding school nights debating quidditch with your bros
>tfw no going into town on the weekends to drink butterbeer
>tfw you will never use dirty spells to see the hot witches naked
>tfw no qt3.14 gf to take to the yule ball
>tfw born a muggle nobody likes
>tfw had philosopher's stone on GBA when i was younger and wanted to flex on my friend who only had the GBC version but secretly agreed with him that his version was better
This will sound cruel, but my older brother and I used to tell our little sister that when you are older every kid goes to Hogwarts. And when she would ask about it later, we would tell her they changed the starting age up one year.

The healing potion sound in Chamber of Secrets is the same as the one for item use in Monster Hunter World and it takes me out of the game every time I notice it.
fuck. goddammit user
That's actually hilarious, when did she finally catch on?
imagine you saw the film as someone in a similar position to harry irl and your life never got better
The Handheld versions are the same general idea, but more suited to the systems.

I don't remember exactly, maybe around the time she was 7 or 8.
This was back when all of the movies were first coming out in the early 2000s.
Threadly reminder this is a terrible game but completely, knowingly done as a cash grab and it's packed with innuendo and sex jokes.
always thought it was a shame that Goblet of Fire didn’t get the same treatment as many of the other console games with a proper Hogwarts hub world. seeing the school progress through the different phases of the Triwizard Tournament could have been really cool.
Please don’t post cursed images in this thread.
Anyone tried Ravenclaw Common Room VR? Any Windows 7 users able to get it to recognize your voice when saying spells?
>tfw stuck playing the crappy mobile VN because no other Hogwarts game without any Harry Potter chosen one bullshit
a-at least the girls are cute though
Turning 11 was probably heartbreaking for most kids. Basically on the level of finding out Santa isn't real.
HP is a heavily mishandled franchise.
what was voldemort's motivation in harry potter anyway? was he literally just evil?
meru madness was great but the game was pretty shitty unless you modded it to bypass all the p2w shit. full blown rpg never ever, nothing but wasted potential.
>tfw I still go back and read Harry Potter fanfiction ever 6 months or so
>only sort by completed, greater than 100K words and if there's any sequels then they must be complete too
>the amount of stories that fit this that are added are less and less
It's really cool to see how the story ideas have changed over the years, there's some that were obviously really interesting that a lot of people copied and have since died. Some examples are;
>Sirius dies and Harry basically changes his life
>Goblet spits our Harry's name and he completely changes his life because the school thinks he cheated his name in
At the time these ideas were really popular, but now they're so played out that I just skip them. Eventually we'll reach the point that I just can't find stories anymore. I'll miss them.
When this game is done I can see a "Definitive" edition on consoles. It's long enough now.
butthurt over not being a pureblood
>games as a service title ever getting a re release
lmao, these are low effort games meant to go on for as long as they can milk people out of their money and then killed off once the suits see the revenue graph going down and decide it's time to pull the plug.
Literally no amount of effort will be put into developing or mantaining it after that point.
I could see them dumping a minimal effort digital only port after the mobile version runs dry.
>Reading TVTropes the other day
>Find out Origin Systems was developing a Harry Potter MMO
What would it have been like?
Also. The CoS pause theme was peak comfy.
we're not talking about minimal effort though, we're talking about reworking core game mechanics because no touchscreen controls
Usually. But a "new" story in the HP world is a money printer.
Not as bad as I feel for you having subjected yourself to a video game based on the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
What ever happened to that new open world Harry Potter that was leaked?
Man that takes me back to when I read fanfics like mad. Never read Harry Potter fanfiction before, but I'm feeling curious if only for nostalgia's sake. Would you have any you'd recommend?
>That leaked HP game is never going to come out.
Azkaban and Phoenix are the best in my opinion. Philosopher and Chamber are pretty great too.
Prince is meh, but not bad either.
Goblet, Hallows 1, and 2 are the worst pieces of shit ever.
weird flex but okay
>changing from mashing touchscreen buttons to mashing physical buttons is reworking core game mechanics
They could always take the lazy route and keep the touch controls but add a cursor.
I've never found a story and wanted to read it again years later, the vast majority are very bad. You can't even search by favourite, follows or shit like that because a lot of those stories are garbage aimed at the teenage girls who read fanfiction.
>What ever happened to that new open world Harry Potter that was leaked?
That was the extent of it. No other information came out. No announcements in E3, no reveals anywhere, not even a statement on what the heck that trailer that leaked was.
The first 3 games for the PC gave me the need for more open world with tons of secrets. I just wished for a large Forbidden Forest Hub area.
The Harry Potter series are the only game which did secrets activated by spells to such an extent.
yes, yes, well done copypasta poster. HOWEVER
That the Deathly Hallows games were Gears of Harry is a tragedy.
>hallows 1 and 2
never even bothered with those. didn’t they try turning HP into a cover-based TPS? seemed like a bizarre move
2 and 5 best games
Only HP game I played was 2 on PS2. Have very fond memories of it though. The loading times where a bitch, the great hall would take minutes to load.
I loved it because you had duels and you cast spells using the right thumbstick. You had to memorize spells, no pressing buttons.
I still remember Windgardium Leviosa, you push up, then make a semi-circle left and right
>I still remember Windgardium Leviosa, you push up, then make a semi-circle left and right
That's stupid. It's swish and flick, not flick and swish.
the amount of soul in this image is staggering
>black bars for pseudo widescreen
>that crisp as fuck text
>big, clear, sharp textures and objects
Maybe I got it backwards, it's been like 10 years since I've played the game user
I remember you had to cast Windgardium Leviosa to do all sorts of puzzles and shit
completely agree user
take me back
Omg. Played gobstones in that game for hours. Coziest part was the music that played when you walk into the Gryffindor common room
>gobstones
absolutely based user. how could I forget about that? such a fun mini game. also
>using spells around the common room to discover secrets
hell, doing it around the whole castle in general was just peak cozy
Absolute retard tier post. Spielberg version of Harry Potter: a multicultural group of kids who ride their bikes around investigating a monster that the Ministry of Magic wants to use as a weapon. Protagonist has distant father figure. 20 shots of people looking up in wonder. No thanks.
Stranger things?
I miss it Yea Forums.
That build up to a new book. The theories, the discussion. The sense of discovery. What do kids nowadays have that's anything remotely similar?
make it 3 and 5 and we’ve got a deal
how come girls and queers like harry potter so much?
I have but it was in the first 2 games with Soule's OST.

why is this music making me cry
I didn’t ask for this
Azkaban was so comfy.
It's a mystery, user.
The story I've heard is that Soule refused to watch the movies so he wouldn't be influenced by John William's score and would have no prejudices about what Hogwarts or the wizarding world should sound like. I'd say it worked.
I'm still holding out hope that the leaked ARPG game will still see the light of day as a PS5 launch title or something
betabitch house
Oh yeah, I loved CoS on the Gameboy Color. I had all of those trading cards except one. You could trade with friends using that infrared thing on your GBC.
That fucking soundtrack

Reminds me of Christmas when I first got the game. Happier times.
The PS1 versions of HP1&2 and GameCube version of HP2 were all good.
>The theories, the discussion.
The theories prior to the seventh book were insane. There were roleplaying forums everywhere too, it was comfy as fuck. HP7 was the first book I read in English, I must've been about 12 years old and I just couldn't wait for it to get translated to my native language. Good times man.
Perpetual childhood, can't move on. Should read 1 Corinthians 13:11.
i actually miss the harry potter days, sad that rowling is killing all the respect people have for her by changing canon of shit now when is all over
I get what you mean. It just has a Christmas-y vibe to it too.
