i love videogames bros
Will we ever get anything like this again?
nope. and it's why the next smash game is guaranteed to be shit.
Yeah, they're best bet for the next game would be to remake Melee in HD with online play.
Melee's dying.
There's no need for a new Smash game. The next, like, ten years are covered. Just keep porting Smash Ultimate so we can keep the characters and contracts aren't an issue. The gameplay is already excellent. Why make a new game when we know we've peaked, when we can just add more to Ultimate?
No. That’s why they decided to go “why not, it was enough of a licensing nightmare to pull this starting roster off” and begin including even more fighters to this. I wouldn’t expect Smash 6 to have this big of a line-up of iconic videogame mascots.
They said that about smash 4 wii U.
What if they keep adding?
Do Smashfags even like this game, or is it just "wow I can't believe Snake and Banjo are in the same game" and "imagine telling someone about this crossover 10 years ago" thing?
I don't give a shit about competitive, but Melee is still the most fun smash game to play. The characters actually have weight and momentum.
No one cares about compfags
Melee is gonna be like 30 years old when the next Smash comes out
Hopefully never again.
The problem with that is it was a long shot that we even got Ultimate. We almost didn't get to keep Cloud because of SE's fuckery, and I imagine Snake was also a bit of trouble to get.
It's licensing issues. All of the effort they put into making sure they could include Cloud, Snake, Hero, and whatever characters they'll include next, they'll have to do that all over again, and unfortunately most companies aren't as generous with their characters as Microsoft was as BK. Can you imagine the PR nightmare that would come if the tagline for the next game was
>EVERYONE IS HERE!*
>*Cloud Strife and Solid Snake sold separately.
Would the contracts really not be an issue when porting a game?
What if the next dlc after the fighters pass is over is actually the characters from the grinch leak?
I know I’m delusional.
>Melee HD
yeah let's just release the same game but with less content (but keeping the glitches) because 5% of our audience wants it
the next smash game is guaranteed to be a "reboot" with a much smaller roster
If Nintendo was smart and made sure to clarify in the contracts that they have the right to keep the characters in ports, no, I'd see no issue.
They'd be retarded not to plan ahead for when they're finally done with the DLC and they can release a "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Definitive Edition:.
They would, he's an idiot.
>Just keep porting Smash Ultimate so we can keep the characters and contracts aren't an issue.
Contracts expire, unless Nintendo somehow managed to get everyone involved to agree to sign a contract that lets them use their characters in Smash Ultimate forever.
melee is like original majora's mask while later smashes are like majora 3ds.
It was good because it was rushed not despite of it. They had a good thing and with extra time they fucked it up.
>will we ever get anything like this again?
Outside of Smash? Probably in the next Marvel vs Capcom game. Now that Disney has the rights to the Fantastic Four and the Xmen I can see Capcom and Marvel working together to get all the fighters from both UMvC3 and MvCI into one single game. That'd be super cool, imagine over 60 characters from both games along with some newcomers and returning veterans from MvC1 and 2 (like Cable, Cyclops, Psylocke and original Megaman), with the god tier gameplay from MvC3 but balanced so Vergil doesnt dominate everything. Would be day 1 purchase for me desu
Also the next Smash bros game will likely be a reboot of sorts with way less characters than ultimate. With some new gameplay gimmicks, some newcomers, and half the cast suddenly gone. Here's hoping that Sonic is the first to get axed, he should have stopped appearing in videogames over 20 years ago.
>tfw Ultimate will always have the best roster in Smash's lifetime
>the next Marvel vs Capcom game
>next
I don't think that's gonna be a thing, user.
I'd kill for an HD remaster of Melee if only to get the Ocarina of Time cast in high quality
>nuh-uh: the post
>imagine Snake was also a bit of trouble to get.
Sincerely doubt this. Now that all of the stuff with Kojima died down, Konami gave a shit ton of stuff to put into Smash. The only way it becomes an issue again is if Sony buys the MGS IP, which I don't see happening.
Oh, really? I thought getting Snake was difficult because of Kojima's absence, and that's why he wasn't in 4?
Capcom are literally incapable of making a good MvC game anymore.
Snake got into Brawl because Kojima asked Sakurai to do it, with Kojima not being at Konami anymore Sakurai probably didn't feel like it was worth going through the effort.
Remove Shulk and it's almost perfect
Interesting. Were there any third parties other than Cloud you know of that were very difficult to include / keep?
Yeah, it kind of sounded like Nintendo just didn't bother to ask for Smash 4. And then they did the ballot and Snake won. When they went to negotiate for him that's probably when they also got the Belmonts and Bomberman. Konami seems to pretty open to adding things considering Goemon just got a mii costume as well.
Just Cloud, although Sakurai said some negotiations fell through we don't know who. My money is on Monster Hunter which is why we just got the Rathalos boss.
Zoomers like slower paced games. It won't happen.
I also suspect that Hero had some catches when it came to adding him, considering we were saddled with those dogshit midis instead of actual songs.
Nope, even Sakurai says it's a long shot.
The next game is def just going to be Nintendo all stars and maybe Sonic.
I'm betting Sakurai is retiring after Ultimate is officially wrapped and that's why he's working to add in as much as possible. Any follow-up, if there is one, is the next guy's problem.
I wouldn't touch that shit.
Pacman, Megaman, and Ryu are shoe-ins considering Namco's Capcom's long history with Nintendo. In fact the only real characters I see being hard to add back are Cloud and Hero since supposedly Square wanted Cloud to be DLC again just for the DLC money.
Yeah, that's why they had to drop all the third party characters and it's only nintendo owned characters with all the ports of brawl.
Oh wait.
>Melee's dying.
says increasingly nervous man for the EIGHTEENTH year in a row
I think that was just Sakurai paying homage. Nintendo already pony'd for the orchestral soundtrack in DQXIS. I imagine if they really wanted them, they
I'd add BK and Sonic to the shoe-in list.
> Capcom's long history with Nintendo
Yeah I don't think Capcom cares about that.
What in the fuck are you talking about.
Since when was Lucario moved from the ground to floating in the air
But they probably care about money. The only downer is if those PSABR2 rumors are true, we probably won't get Jill Valentine for Smash
they should just port Ultimate.
They will just keep adding stuff to Ultimate.
Good, fuck Jill. Leon Kennedy is leagues better.
Except contracts clearly do not work that way, as in a interview Sakurai said he was lucky to bring Cloud back at all.
>Just keep porting Smash Ultimate so we can keep the characters and contracts aren't an issue.
Fucking hell you sonyfags are retarded. They need to make new contracts for each game INCLUDING ports.
>i don't like your post, therefore you are a sonyfag
If you don't think the next Smash is just gonna be a port of this with some new characters, you're mad
Not him but it's more like
>your post shows a lack of understanding to a degree only seen in sonyfags that are intentionally trying to shitpost
After all its only your group that do these things.
So basically Sonyfags live in your head rent free and you'll still accuse people you don't like of being Sonyfags despite being in a fucking Nintendo thread.
That's sad, dude.
>So basically Sonyfags live in your head rent free
It's more like Sonyfag is a specific kind of person who is ignorant about the gaming industry. And you're not exactly proving you aren't.
Also most smash threads aren't even made by Nintendofags here.
It's bee slowly dying since Smash 4 released. The only reason competitive Melee survived for so long, is because of how terrible Brawl was.
Jump Musou one say maybe.
licensing nightmare
