Does it perform well? I have W10 on an old laptop but it has 4GB of RAM, an i7 processor, and integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics. I get like like 20 FPS and whenever I move the camera or zoom in or out it freezes for like 3-5 seconds. Unplayable. I've tried everything I could find and nothing helped. How did you get it to work?

nostalgia glasses aside, games like Simcity 4 gave you a metric ton of tools, a huge framework and you could do whatever the shit they permitted, improvising to the point of breaking the game. There usually were no tutorials, if there were - they were very barebones.

these days games like the new SimCity are designed to be as streamlined and as simple as humanly possible, there is hand holding at every step of the game, the gameplay even in a sandbox game is so very limited and hardcapped. the "framework" I previously mentioned is so stiff.

they still make deep and versatile games like that. and those games "have soul". it's just that with videogames becoming more popular, it's more profitable to cater to the average consumer, which, frankly, is a retard.

Honestly I come back to the game every couple expansions just to see if I'll feel anything.
It usually only lasts a couple hours before I lose interest already though, whereas single expansions in TS2 and TS3 kept me busy for fucking days.

4 is not a good game. People defend it saying that its finally become playable, but thats a fucking awful excuse. Its had 5 years of additional content and it STILL FEELS LIKE A FUCKING BASEGAME.

sims 4 was originally a multiplayer game like simcity 2013.
they ripped all of the multiplayer out of the sims 4 after simcity flopped and the outrage over it being online only.

I wish you could lock the camera into the sims 1 style. It also sucks that they changed the way walls behave, like you can either disable all walls or enable all walls, in sims 1 you could have it so that you can still see the outer walls.
