It was always niche and that senile hack Miyamoto refuses to make another one until they figure out some way to "innovate" (read: shoehorn in a gimmick). Note that GX, the purported best game in the series and the one everyone sings praises for, wasn't even made by Nintendo. It was a Sega production.

Why? About the only thing you can do with the franchise besides a spinoff would just be another gx anyways. Might as well just slap on a new coat of paint, add in online, and maybe add some more characters and maps and see if it sell a million with minimal effort.

F-Zero GX was too good and then the GBA game tanked the series. Nintendo won’t touch it again because they can’t think of a way to “innovate”(ruin) it. So instead they just keep pinching off a new Mario Kart every once in awhile even though THAT series hasn’t been good since the Gamecube either
