Its Foghter Z followed by Infinite World. These were the only games that were made as good games first and DBZ cash in second and the only Fighters not crippled by mechanically problems like OP defense systems that break the game.
I rememeber the Tenkaichis always had a brainless broken defensive system that that made the games play like Simon with the 8 moves in the game. The Budokai on the PS3 had undercosted Teleport counters and Five fucking times faster Ki regen than B3 making running too easy while the otherwise great Shin Budokai games on the PSP tried to stop B3s infinite juggles by changing the physics which just made it impossible to hit someone backdashing to run endlessly and a completely broken Piccalo who chain combos ultimates from full screen with godly priority

I mean Z is far from perfect, but I just saw the episode where Piccolo beats on Gohan until he goes mystic and theres a short flash back montage of gohan fighting super buu where they just use the original animation, and the sheer stark contrast in animation and composition quality completely threw me off. It was just sad. And it's been awhile since I've watched Z but from what I remember the Buu saga was one of the weakest seasons in term of animation quality

The big problem with super is that it's a story done by corporation. Akira toriyama isn't the one producing it. He just gave cliff notes and character designes to both Toei animation for the anime, and that one guy who made the fan comic Dragonball af for the manga.
Apparently the cliff notes are pretty sparse. Without details on how certain villians are defeated or narrative between setpieces. This is why the series feels so janky, it's a boardroom with some notes trying to make a story.

Something like Kakarot but without the open world meme and with good combat mechanics. Just a game where you play through every major fight of Goku's life and every big fight he's not there for (plus some of the filler/movies).
The gameplay would be two parts Otogi (floaty, air-based combat based around knocking enemies into destructible environments), one part God Hand (large array of attacks to equip), one part Tenkaichi (ki meter, different special attacks that use up that meter, charging it up, movement options, etc.)

Sorry. BT3 was and still is my favorite DBZ game. It's fun for my autism to take over and make pretend what if battles in my head and bait the cpu to do a beam struggle.
RB1 and RB2 are so clunky and the animations took a seat back. It's a small thing but they also set beams back to hitting only once and that just felt wrong.

I liked that RPG on GBA, but I think a fighting game fits the series best and FighterZ knocked it out of the park.
Mechanically it could be better sure, but it's more than competent and the visuals are absolutely perfect.
The style, flashiness, and cinematic finishes are probably the best things you could do to make it feel like playing a fight in the show without taking too much away from the gameplay.
