The game hands you a few named characters that are death incarnate, and Ramza is always a given since he's there for every battle and has the infamous duel sequence.

Non generics are basically crutches for bad players.

The non-generics range from alright to incredibly game-breaking, and are all basically a straight upgrade from generics. Generics are rad though and you should always use them.
