If you're on PC you could always convince them to use an emulated LAN to play Borderlands 3 with your pirated copy. Every single Borderlands game has had LAN capabilities which is why pirating and playing it with friends is so fucking easy

Borderlands 1, 2, and The Pre Sequel (not to mention Tales) all did very well on Steam, selling phenomenally well even up through recently. They were released not just on Windows but also OSX and most importantly Linux, thanks to well made ports by Aspyr and/or Feral.

I wont' touch BL3 on that infected pustule that is Epic, so until it comes to Steam, fuck it. They deserve the bad press. Worse, I'm concerned that even when it does come to Steam, they won't properly discount it given how long it has been out. Perhaps worst of all however is that Epic's complete failure to support Linux means that games that make the faustian bargain are less likely to be Linux titles, so BL3 may take longer to come to Linux if it does at all. BL DLC is pretty much the only DLC that I actually support.

All of the BL1 DLC is fantastic (the arena one isn't great but it does give you the gun storage bank). Knoxx is like the gold-standard for what DLC should be in terms of length and content.
BL2 DLC is also very good. The pirate one is a bit short but has a lot of optional stuff to do. Tina's is basically the Knoxx of BL2.

I hate most DLC but Borderlands is generally DLC done right.

Sadly, BL has received little to no r34 over the years.
