Choosing to ignore trainings in strength and defense to focus on endurance would lead a player who's underpowered against bosses and dies quickly, but he'd have access to skills with guard points, projectiles, I-Frames, things like that to compensate. Ultimately you use the gameplay to encourage the player to behave like the Main Character would and be rewarded with satisfying gameplay.

I'd do your first playthrough on hard+classic to get the hang of things. There are still some challenging parts are you start, but you being to steamroll towards the end.

gameplay wise, the common complaint is that it's too easy. but maddening is out and i think that there's supposed to be yet another harder difficulty coming eventually, so i'm sure that will remedy that issue.
everything else about the game is great though. maybe the music isn't that great. but the writing is way way better than any of the 3ds games, the story is good and not retarded, characters are mostly enjoyable, high replay value.
