There is no fucking way that episode 1 is going to reach Gold Saucer.

It absolutely was poorly executed, but the way she gets killed by Ardynin front of the MC while the MC can't stop it was very much a throwback to it. Square just forgot everything else about that scene that made it good, and ended up just killing off a character no one cared about.
