Only Furries, Russians and Brazilians still play TF2 so who really cares

No

Is this 2009?

yes

no because i think theyre funny

I know exactly how to fix TF2:
>Only 6v6 games in matchmaking
>Turn off random crits
>No duplicate classes in matchmaking
>Heavy has to reload his minigun
>Everyone gets infinite ammo
>Only payload, koth and attack/defense as matchmaking modes
>Remove trading
>Add competitive rewards so more people play it
>Engineers turret upgrades automatically to lvl 2, but deals less damage
>Dispenser and tele removed
>Spy has infinite cloak and cannot instakill backstab anymore, his main damage is now his revolver
>Rocketjump gets dedicated button and doesn't do damage. It has a cooldown
>Stickyjump gets a dedicated button and doesn't do damage to yourself. It has a cooldown
>You get removed from game if you afk more than 30 secods
>Crouch jump gets removed
>Scout's doublejump gets removed
>Bonk! has a dedicated button with a cooldown
>Jarate has a dedicated button with a cooldown
>Jetpack has a dedicated button with a cooldown
>Every class has only one weapon, melee weapons have been turned into quick-melees which have their own dedicated button
>Air strafing gets removed
>B-hop gets removed

Shut up cyкa

Furries, Russians and Brazilians make up a large amount of the world population, so I would say a lot of people still cares.

Choose wisely, Yea Forums.

E-Sports has usurped the soul out of every Valve game that it contaminated on a global level since the turn of the decade. You did not see Competitive Quake override the very foundations on which Quake was created and based off for years. This is change for the sake of change, to satisfy the zealotic cravings of autistic fathletes.

Team Fortress 2 is perhaps the shining diamond among the list of casualties. And at the epicenter of it all, stands Reddit and their associated thinktanks and celebrities. Every, single, time. Yet even with all this focus on cutting the game down as much as possible, stripping It of what made it unique, they still overlook the countless bugs and other broken features that have been present for years.

Is it even worth saving now?

I've been trying to find this video for months, thanks mister

Black and gold, baby. You fix TF2 in the short-term by ridding the game of the cancer that is autobalance, and we're not getting anymore TF2 updates anyway, so developing TF3 is the logical choice.

>"fix" TF2 by turning it into Overwatch

Casual and competitive should be as similar as possible. TF2 isn't a 'throwing shit at the wall' simulator. The entire community unanimously wants random crits removed and to have the game be held to the same standards as other E-Sports titles. Likewise, Melee is a serious liability that belongs in one category only, gimmicks.

Attached: UC Berkley.png (111x110, 34K)

If anything I wish it was popular with real people.

it is, my man. Despite all the hiccups the game got over its long lifespan its still going strong.
There will never be the game that will have the same feeling as tf2. it is worth saving.
You might feel that the tf2 team is only pandering to competitive autists, but thats not true. their true intent is getting the finest balance between casual, comp and MVM as stated in the interview with the team.
Celebrities come and go, they dont matter into the equation. Muselk for example apparently was first a tf2 youtuber, then moved to overwatch, then to tf2 again. dont bother with them.
tf2 seems to be like charcoal that burns out very slowly and also gets a lot of heat if it gets an update.
stay strong my friend.

Green and then the entire bottom row is the only correct choice

blue, white, pink, light blue on caber

Orange, don't care about the rest

Kritzkrieg should be removed from TF2

I want to believe. I recently just played some Lakeside and Neonheights as Engineer and it still sucked me back into the game's somewhat sandbox feeling for a few hours. I haven't played consistently in years. I still want to play more though. I have other work to do in the meantime. It's just not the same with all the creative loadouts that you could come up with to do basically anything you want.

Or maybe having a fight suddenly ended by one crit ruins the fun?

>playing the objective and trying to win in TF2 means you hate TF2

It really does, you thinking its only parroting off an e-celeb doesn't suddenly make your argument valid. Crits are unfun

Pro-crit becoming anti-crit because of negativity bias.

People become pro-crit because they realize the game has been alive for 11 years and removing a pillar of the game's design will jeopardize that.

Attached: 1548824167581.png (588x599, 187K)

We should add random ubercharges on hit so you turn invincible sometimes when you get shot instead of taking damage. It's more fun.

>spouting Reddit bullshit while jerking yourself to Reaper's ass cheeks

>Durr I like fights ending in one random crit pipe
You have no argument other than they're funny.

The game has already been made unplayable ever since they removed random damage spread. Everything is so sterile now.

>No Argument

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 103K)

Yeah the game is literally unplayable because more randomness has been removed, Valve should add a mechanic where you can randomly get godmode and noclip on respawn, its fun so that means its good

>Only 6v6 games in matchmaking
Fuck you for doing this, Overwatch... oh wait. Thanks a lot, soldier mains

Random crits affect everyone equally. They are unironically a fair and balanced gameplay mechanic. If you have a problem with dying to them then get good and don't get hit.

You're right, I do miss demomen randomly needing three pipes instead of two to kill me, giving me that much more leeway as a soldier.

Comp fags begone, if you faggots want to complain like little babies about instant kills then at the very least complain about Sniper

>Random crits affect everyone equally.
They do not you fucking retard, crits are calculated by the damage you have done recently, so players who are doing well will get more crits, bad players get nothing from this.
>If you have a problem with dying to them then get good and don't get hit.
Yes, matter of fact i shouldn't even play the game, that way i can't get hit, great logic

Dane already explained why you're wrong, and even if he's popular, he just destroys your argument.

If you love playing soldier so much, perhaps look for an upgraded version with a killstreak type that you want, or a strange original, or a skin, or whatever your taste would prefer

>hurrr durrr bad players never get random crits
Gibus soldiers always seem to launch a crocket my way, hmmmmmm

They don't affect everyone equally. They benefit whoever is doing the most damage in the game the most.
Also
>just don't use your health resource lmao

I do. They're pretty unfun.

>They do not you fucking retard, crits are calculated by the damage you have done recently
So you admit then that everyone has an equal opportunity for crits? It's genuinely great design; it rewards good play and punishes shitters.

>Oh that one gibus soldier got one crit that means they all benefit equally
They do get crits, but not as much as obviously good players, which you said they get equally brainlet

>The entire community unanimously wants random crits removed
Huh? I don't want them removed. Neither do other people who I frequently play with. You can't make a bold claim of that sort without proof, and numbers. No, a biased poll made on a sub-reddit where a majority of the content is centered around complaining about critical hits, doesn't equate to the entire community. You'd have to ask all 117, 917 players before deciding there's an "unanimous" decision. Retard, shut the fuck up. Why must everything be competitive, and why must you ruin my casual fun? Are we not allowed to have fun playing a regular, standard, good 'ol fashioned match, or must we adhere to your standards? There are plenty of other competitive games, with an actual competitive scene - go to those. I'd recommend you stop watching people play games, especially those you own, and stop parroting what the "majority unanimously have decided on".

Attached: 1568084594119.jpg (489x557, 88K)

All hits should be removed from TF2 and replaced with hugs. We need to stop exposing our children to violence in video games.

You absolute nigger, that's the other faggot you're thinking of. I never said shit about random crits being distributed equally. In the end, random crits are just a way to encourage players to get good or get fucked

Reminder there is zero argument for keeping random crits other than "WELL I LIKE THEM SO THEY SHOULD STAY IN THE GAME". They are unfair, unbalanced, and often reward bad plays over skilled ones

>often reward bad plays over skilled ones
Random crits give more rewards to good player anyway. Imagine one good player landing 8 direct rockets out of 10 and bad player landing 2 or 3 out of 10. Good player is going to do way more damage anyway.

If you're defending crits then defend random damage spread too.

Random crits would be cool if they actually had some ridiculous chance like .01%. Right now they are too consistent to be random and funny.

Purple, Blue, and Silver is the objectively best choice, because it presses pretty much every button except Orange.
Reverting Meet Your Match will revive custom servers, which fixes green, gold, red, pink, white, and teal as long as you don't join shitty servers.
Reverting Mannconomy will presumably re-enable custom weapons (Valve disabled those in like 2015 or so because they were apparently losing money on custom servers that gave out their own cosmetics), allowing mods like Weaponizer to fix light blue and, to an extent, black.
The only two options that can't be fixed by custom servers are orange and silver. One coin left finishes the comic.

Orange really should just be the Heavy update button.

give me a gf and real match making

Yes from competitive
No from casual

based

Blue, Light Blue, Silver, and White

There TF2 is restored to what it once was.

With most melee weapons every three to four hits will be a random crit. I don't see any repeating patterns with anything else though.

>they wont reply to this
literally btfo

>no "remove quickplay"

black and removing quickplay would be all you need. Quick play would instantly kill tf3. that and removing SV_pure would be nice.

>bro just don't get hit

I don't fucking care if you like crits because feelings are a subjective matter, they are still objectively shit game design

getting killed by a crit sticky that was carelessly spammed while im properly positioned around a corner and im healthy enough to take one normal explosion undermines skill in a skill based game
spy would be more viable if the rest of the cast couldn't """""""face stab""""""" him with a triple damage melee attack
Random crits undermine weapons that can't randomly crit and are otherwise meaningful side grades
I hate losing killstreaks because of random chance that I don't have a way of estimating. How the fuck am I supposed to know how much damage any player has done in 20 seconds?
Crit chance scaling is fucked, and caps to high to be justified, and it should atleast start at fucking zero. random crits don't feel earned even if they were intended to be.
entire teamfights and sometimes entire rounds ended by luck just makes everyone leave anyway.

give me a counter argument that is not "I like crits" or "FUCK UNCLE DANE ENGIE MAN BAD"

Attached: 1550209011047.png (329x523, 22K)

Riddle me this:
Why are you so bad that you can't even imagine gaining any advantage from sacrificing your expendable health?

ctf_HAARP > everything else

this, how are people replying to that like it's some "gotcha"

>they are still objectively shit game design
If you actually look into them they're not.
The chance they actually randomly happen are 2%, getting hit by one unfairly around a corner is even lower.

Then you consider most players die to two to three hits, so a random crit will typically be the last hit in a fight.

The best part is that what seperates good players from bad is how many hits it takes to kill someone. Usually a perfect aim soldier only requires 2 hits to kill a pyro with direct hits. if you give a casual a crit on his second attack he will get the kill earlier allowing him to snowball more kills.

Its perfectly fine design, and I'm glad valve actually took the leap to include something this bold in their game.

Attached: wowno.jpg (192x257, 16K)

>I'm so good, every fight i fight is like calculated and perfect
>So why do crits matter if you don't get hit?
>w-well you see my honor, and f-fair fights

The game is designed around getting 2 shot if you actually payed attention to health bars and explosive damage caps. This is also why dying during quick fix uber is double as frustrating. Only a sniper or spy should kill a quick fix uber.

There's a lot of character details but the gist of it was that the administrator made a bargain with some cosmic entity that takes the form of Abraham Lincoln, a lot of shit happens, and they subsequently blow up a ton of weapons, ending humanity. Then in the far future the australium rocket with Sniper's mom in it crashes back to earth. The ape beings that inhabit the post-apocalyptic landscape, influenced by the australium, take the red and blue scraps of her clothing and begin fighting territorial wars.

>The game is designed around getting 2 shot if you actually payed attention to health bars and explosive damage caps.

So why does it matter when crits usually occur on the second hit?

I could understand bitching, if it took 5 shots to kill you, and you get hit by a crit. but this just speeds up the process or changes nothing.

No
They make the game more chaotic and fun
People who want to remove them are tryhard faggots who get salty when they die in a fucking casual game

On a side note, did anyone actually ever do the competitive mode? I tried it out and it was the most boring fucking shit. Why did they choose 6's? why not highlander? Highlander is 10x funner to both watch and play, and it means you actually need skill instead of going scout.

What logic brings you to the conclusion that "crits usually occur on the second hit"?
Both the first and second have close to the same chance of being a crit.

Blue is the only correct one.

I also don't give a fuck about it, I don't know about you but I hate how the subtle humor of the original shorts just became lame ''look at our wacky reality'' jokes, some good some bad, but not muh tf2. It's the same thing that happened with Portal.

>Both the first and second have close to the same chance of being a crit.
the fact that you have a 2% chance to deal a crit on the first hit, and on the second hit you have about 3-4% chance to crit.
its nearly twice the chance.

This is also mostly annecdotal, but nearly every crit I've gotten was the final shot to kill or be killed.

I bet nobody in this thread has given back to the game that has given them so much. NOBODY has even touched hammer or can post what they are working on in this thread, like a buncha panzies taking this great game for granted

I like the humor but it really spoiled some stuff for me.

I remember trying to imagine what the employees would do inside 2fort, but now I know they're just a bunch of gravel eating retards.

That's assuming that the person you are fighting has dealt zero damage in the last half minute. Not only that, 100 damage is the highest you can reasonably deal on a non-crit with a weapon that is capable of random crits, what about all of the first hits that do less than that?

You say the chance is lower, but you must understand that its a probability and not a guarantee, yea its rare, but it happens plenty and it shouldn't happen at all. Keep in mind crit chance caps at 12%
And just because crit chance caps at 12% doesn't mean you will have 12 crits out of 100, unless its hard coded that way. If you flip a coin a million times, you will not get heads exactly 500,000 times. Thats why its called chance.
its possible that some players get cheap kills at 0 damage dealt way more than 2% of the time, its possible that players get free kills like that way less than 2%. Its inherently unfair.

Why are we talking as if its 2% every time anyway? it is possible to win a fight fair and square, get to a health pack, and get to the next fight within 20 seconds; yet the incoming player has no way to predict how much damage was dealt. Even if there wasn't a kill, as long as damage was dealt by just holding m1 at a crowd, then trying to flank or dealing with a spy, its not 2% we are talking about.

Nothing about your hypothetical example even makes sense. there is no guarantee that a crit is the last hit and not the first. if it was truly "typical" than it wouldn't be so controversial. how does the soldier get the kill earlier if he needed to hit 2 rockets and his second rocket crit? Wouldn't the pyro have died in the same amount of time from 2 non crit rockets if he could kill him in 2 rockets? How is it even useful or satisfying if the crit had no part in the kill anyway? If you really appreciate skilled players, why do you think its ok that they sometimes die in 1 attack when they had to land 2?

random crits

I'd ask for tf3 but 2019 valve doesn't deserve to develop it.

good one

if you make a chat bind for everytime a crit death happens, to you or someone else, people will start to complain in chat about you spamming your bind
this is evidence that crits happen too often and affect the game more than they should.

Black and Light Blue for Flaregun

>crits usually occur on the second hit
as far as I care, that is subjective. I die to crits at full health all the time: atleast twice per round. So I guess you understand the bitching?
and what do you mean speed up the process? The point of an uber is to have an advantage. Why should I work my ass off to have a shortened advantage?
if my patient dies for no reason, it absolutely changes something. Do you know how many times I've been top scoring even off medic, die to a crit, and then immediately lose the point? crits control the game more than they should.

>yea its rare, but it happens plenty and it shouldn't happen at all.
I really can't say it happens plenty, I have not once been killed by a crit by someone leaving spawn.

>Why are we talking as if its 2% every time anyway?
because in most cases its 2% on spawn or you're stomping at 12%. theres rarely an inbetween.

>yet the incoming player has no way to predict how much damage was dealt.
>there is no guarantee that a crit is the last hit and not the first.
that's why they're more random, but ebbing closer to the desired function of promoting a kill streak.

>how does the soldier get the kill earlier if he needed to hit 2 rockets and his second rocket crit?
typically it takes any novice soldier 3 hits of splash damage to kill most players. Once he crits he saves 1-2 rockets, and can keep the fight going.
Which encourages momentary pushes and snowballs.

>If you really appreciate skilled players
I actually don't. I think the games skill ceiling and floor should be lowered a fair deal. any pub stomper star that's flying around the map and killing everyone instantly isn't fun to play against or as.

I think everyone should have a lime light, and their chance to do so should be pretty common.
Not to say that I think crits should be common, I just think the skill gap should be small enough that they're very likely to make a good play leading to their momentary victory.

List of facts :

1. MyM was only a response to Overwatch, the competitive community was AS disappointed as casual players were, it brought ONLY bad things to both sides.
2. Valve has not contributed a single cent to the competitive scene, ever.
3. Weapons weren't nerfed because compfags whined, they were nerfed because everyone was complaining about them, most of them aren't used by competitive players anyways.
4. Competitive players don't care about random crits in casual/community servers more than casual players do, no more, no less.
5. Valve doesn't "consult" competitive players for updates. Valve may have talked with high profile players on few occasions, but they don't have a direct input on the development of the game at all.

>and what do you mean speed up the process? The point of an uber is to have an advantage. Why should I work my ass off to have a shortened advantage?
>if my patient dies for no reason, it absolutely changes something. Do you know how many times I've been top scoring even off medic, die to a crit, and then immediately lose the point? crits control the game more than they should.

So you're upset that instead of the game revolving around medic ubers pushing everything, you hate the fact that crits suddenly change the tide and cause a momentary shift in power?

Y'know whats weirder is that people seem to always say that crits are better for defense, but this post seems to imply otherwise. If true, then that means they help speed up the game and prevent hard turtling. Which in itself is a very good thing.

As someone who hates 6s TF2 and the comp scene in general, this post is 100% true, and the tards who scream about a comp boogeyman at every turn make it more difficult to discuss TF2 in these threads.

>anecdotal evidence outweighs statistics
no, crits still favor the defensive team. They are dealing more damage (thereby increasing crit chance), more safely (thereby denying an increased crit chance to the enemy), have a device that absorbs damage and is immune to crits, and the only downside is that they have a longer respawn timer.
The design of TF2 is "Fuck you, momentum wins" but random crits don't even help keep momentum going when it's disproportionately favoring the team that has the express goal of halting all momentum.
You'd get fired too if you were that shit at your 1 job.

I'm a quite decent players, I went through the numbers, and random crits are over represented in my death causes.

Random critical hits are an outdated mechanic, they undermine skill, put some classes at a disadvantage and generally feel less and less pleasing as your skill augments.

Nowadays, if I ever get a random crit, I don't feel like "WOAH DUDE, THAT WAS BONKERS!!!! XPLOZION!!", I'm more like "Oh well, I won without trying."

>anecdotal evidence outweighs statistics
but I was replying to your anecdotal evidence and saying the complaint you made about said evidence is actually a boon.

>no, crits still favor the defensive team.
And now you suddenly seem to be retracting that statement

>The design of TF2 is "Fuck you, momentum wins" but random crits don't even help keep momentum going

That is absolutely and entirely wrong. If you kill someone before they can hit you, you don't lose any health. You also spend less ammo. Lets say a soldier kills 2 enemies with a crit, then he kills another enemy with two rockets, and finally hits one guy and melees them.
where he would require 2-3 rockets in the first place to kill someone, this turns a single kill into a massive floor whipe and momentum swing.

and this of course compounds with the longer respawn times on defense.

>Random critical hits are an outdated mechanic, they undermine skill,

TF2 is a casual game.

H O W

Removing random crits plus the other terrible changes like killing community servers and ruining every fun weapon will make me never want to return to the game.

Reminder that the TF2 devs made random crits because they never realized players would actually be competent at a videogame. If you want them to stay, it's because you just don't care about being anything other than a mouthbreather

gravelpit developer commentary, read between the lines

Valve made tf2 in general because they knew people wanted to play casually. They nerfed a lot of classes because of the retardedly high skill ceiling.

And it fucking works.
People bitched when tf2 came out, everyone was losing their shit it was low skill garbage, but now they love it.
Go play overwatch if you want competitive cancer.

would you care to tell me your recorded time in tf2? 2300 hours for me
>because in most cases its 2% on spawn or you're stomping at 12%. theres rarely an inbetween.
so you mean to say that players usually kill ~6 people within 20 seconds or just dont kill anyone at all? Im usually in the top 3 players on my team and I get maybe 30 kills per match, without playing spy
>the desired function of promoting a kill streak
The reward for a killstreak is capturing the objective or generally advancing the team, not just killing someone unfairly. A player shouldn't die for free because of something they can't control or something they had no part it. and before you quote the critical hit quote from the dev, just keep in mind valve has gone back on their designs plenty of times.
>any pub stomper star that's flying around the map and killing everyone instantly isn't fun to play against or as.
then you should hate crits, because its those guys who crit more often anyway. Don't you want a fair chance to take em down instead of praying for 2% to kick in?

games with low skill ceilings have shitty boring metas. i don't want that for tf2, otherwise its just overwatch with "UMMM CAN WE HAVE MERCY AND NOT ZENYATTA, WE NEED 3 TANKS NOT 2" and eventually position queue's like in overwatch and league of legends. Atleast in OW and league, crits make fucking sense. In league you are guaranteed your crit chance within 100 crits and in OW, you crit in headshots. thats why no one complains about it in those games, its less random and fair. you can actually make decisions based on your crit information in those games. I hate those games because I'm not a competitive esports fag, but I still hate this bullshit ruining literally every pub. Why even try if Im gonna lose for no reason? why not just go friendly and conga in spawn if my game is just gonna get ruined because im "due" for a crit? It doesn't have to be like this

>critical hits are one of the features that resulted from our focus on pacing. The Critical hits system attempts to slightly influence the highs and lows of the game by increasing the chance of a Critical hit based upon the player's recent performance. This helps create those rare high moments where a single player goes on a rampage and gets three or four kills in rapid succession.

Pretending it says the exact opposite of what it says is not "reading between the lines" baka. Crits exist to reward skillful play. If you aren't getting dozens of crocket kills per game then you're just bad at the game.

youtube.com/watch?v=hj6duP3Ynt0
Is he right? Is TF2 hard to learn?

easy fix for random crits. When you get your respawn time gets reduced by half.

>would you care to tell me your recorded time in tf2? 2300 hours for me
3942 hours hebus.

>so you mean to say that players usually kill ~6 people within 20 seconds or just dont kill anyone at all? Im usually in the top 3 players on my team and I get maybe 30 kills per match
yeah, honest 30 kills per match is pretty average to below average. usually I'm at like 80 unless I'm playing a joke loadout.

>The reward for a killstreak is capturing the objective or generally advancing the team, not just killing someone unfairly.
Nah the reward is that addrenaline rush when you just skirt by with the skin of your teeth.
>A player shouldn't die for free because of something they can't control or something they had no part it.
he could have dodge the crit or shot the opponent first. and why shouldn't players accept unfair defeat? its just a casual game. Theres nothing massive being lost here, and one player dieing won't fuck the team over.

>just keep in mind valve has gone back on their designs plenty of times.
Yes which is why they updated crits. and I can't really think of anything massive they went back on besides random damage. Which was actually horribly unbalanced especially with the inclusion of some of the unlocks.

>then you should hate crits, because its those guys who crit more often anyway
I'm fine with them getting lucky moments just as much as some shitter getting lucky moments. I wouldn't want shitters to have better results than bad players. If they try and suceed with a crit, and snowball it into a victory good on them. That option should be available to everyone.

>games with low skill ceilings have shitty boring metas

I beg to differ. Games with high skill ceilings usually involve very simple metas that revolve around muscle memory and precise input. They also have classes and abilities that become less rewarding once the pro-scene abuses their ceiling and gets them nerfed into the ground. Classes like Genji come to mind.

Attached: j-just a few more hours before 4000.png (263x118, 30K)

It's not that they didn't want to reward skillful play, but that they thought getting multiple kills in a row is somehow a rare occurrence when players know how to fucking play.
It'd be like being given confetti and fanfare every time you did basic algebra. Good job, dumbass you can solve some middleschool equations, get back to dataentry you tie-wearing clerk. It's condescending and completely undervalues any accomplishment you're actually capable of if they'll hand it out to any random dick on the street with no experience.

I can have a killstreak without literally having a killstreak weapon upgrade. if I get 3 kills with the default, stock rocket launcher and no fancy killfeed nonsense, its still a "killstreak"

wheres the counterpoint, dick face? thats not an argument. You didn't even address the rest of the sentence you tried to make fun of.
if Im playing well, why should that be stopped by bad luck? How can you estimate an enemy's crit chance?
Stop making pro-crit fags look so bad. Stop embarrassing yourself for them, they are better off without you.

If we remove everything that's annoying (like the engineer class) then TF2 is less fun. Adding something is always better.

not at all.

Play soldier, heavy or pyro. The only hard to learn classes are spy and sniper, maybe engineer.

I've seen a fuck load of brain dead soldiers aim near people and get kills. It is so easy to get into tf2, the only problem is that everyone is so retardedly good.

Undo every weapon nerf to the point where the weapon was at its best.
Bring Arena Mode back and give it match making servers.
Bring back Robot Destruction v1 and Cactus Canyon and finish them as well as develop follow up maps for them.
These minuscule changes will singlehandedly save tf2.

don't turtle your sentry, and you need to use disguises or sentries will shoot you on decloak.

>I beg to differ.
The most prolific classes in 6s have the highest skill ceilings in TF2. I'm not a compfag, but even I can see that Soldier, or scout or something is a LOT more fun to play than anything in Overshit. I don't know how you can have so many hours in TF2 and have such dogshit opinions on how balance should be done.

Sentries have a bit of trouble aiming above them. so the furry pyro knows how to sentry dance and destroy it without it shooting they/them but they wouldn't have been able to get there were it not for your poor POSITIONING.

the 6 v 6 meta has been the exact same for years.
>they're fun to play still

yeah, because they're leaching off a casual game lol.
Overwatch is hyper high skill ceiling 6 v 6 garbage, with boring metas. That doesn't make it good.

Orange and Green. I'd pick black but beginning production means it'll take till 2028 if it's the same development time as TF2 which is REALLY fucking bad

>Why should that be stopped by bad luck?
That's what games are. Also I'm not trying to argue with you. You stated very clearly that you care more about this stupid mini game than the actual TF2 gameplay.

Its pushing the highest skill ceiling possible, so it can crash in on itself.

Those who like random crits are probably the dorks who want rng in fighting games.

>b-but real life is rng based!
Which is why every professional sport enviornment is designed to prevent accidents and anomalies from happening. Everything from the clothing and shoes to the way the land is chosen.

>but muh card games
Nobody actually likes getting mana screwed which is why the whole point of making a good deck involves sidestepping the chaos of randomness. Notice almost every card fills up the 4 copies rule.

>there is skill in adapting to bad rng
If that is true, then it should go both ways, there is no skill in getting good rng, especially when it's consecutive. It's fire and forget.

>and why shouldn't players accept unfair defeat? its just a casual game.
unfair defeats aren't fun. people play casual games to have fun. its nice to feel like its your own fault when you lose.
>he could have dodge the crit
not every situation in this game is designed to be dodged, thats why the game is designed around 2 to 3 shots. A person who shoots second should still be able to win it. Even good players get juked and outplayed sometimes.
>If they try and suceed with a crit, and snowball it into a victory good on them. That option should be available to everyone.
you can't try to have a crit, its not in your control. its not an "option" or a "strategy" you can choose.

Would choose blue but I want my gf

tf2 requires more button combinations than overwatch, you are flat out wrong on this

That's skill floor not ceiling.
overwatch has a low floor in many situations, which is fine.

arguably only due to crouch jumping. streamlining that really doesn't make it worse or better though.

3 shot actually.

>When are they porting tf2 to source 2 already
never, the tf team is like 5 niggas
>Don't get hit
the game is designed around taking more than 1 hit, if you die to sniper or spy, you are making a specific mistake (awareness or positioning). Tf2 is about avoiding the second hit, even if you take one shot from a surprise attack.
if you round a corner and come up to a player at point blank range, you are both gonna take a hit and thats ok.
the game is about getting into fights. the better player will avoid the second hit. Crits completely ruins this design and strategy. Health is a resource and you can expend every point besides the last point. got anything else?

3 shot for heavies
2 pipes kills soldier, soldier kills most classes in 2 rockets, plenty of classes die to melee in 2 hits unless its scout's or spy's
tf2 is a high damage game

>soldier kills most classes in 2 rockets
only if you hit directly, and even then falloff it doesn't.

Shotgun is what the game is balanced around, and that typically kills in 3-4 for most classes.

t. I listened to the commentary

c tapping and strafing and pogo'ing and wall jumping
rocket jumping is way more than just going to the second floor, holy shit this is actually the mindset of overwatch fags LMAO

reminder

tf2 - Smash
Overwatch - Rising thunder
Call of duty - street fighter

>c tapping
I really hate this term.
>strafing
believe you strafe in overwatch to maintain momentum as well.
>pogo'ing and wall jumping
true desu, but rarely comes up in normal games unless you're going to the point. Wall jumping arguably comes up more often, but thats in very specific locations of the map, or if you want a better rocket jump and you're near a wall.

90 X 2 = 180
7 out of 9 classes have below 200 base health and then theres demo with the booties and no pills
most classes die in 2 meatshots, realistically 3. If you need 4 shots to kill pyro, you have shit aim or you are too far.

>90 X 2 = 180

for shotgun, thats pointblank. Like litterally in their backside.

Mid range, where most fights occur thats 60-70.
which is 3 shots if you hit 60 or slightly graze one.
And I should say, you're assuming all the shots line up perfectly. Which is actually a really nice way to balance skill, because it doesn't over power players, but it gives them a mild efficiency in play-style.

Using momentum in the source engine actually requires skill.

just because you hate the term doesn't mean it aint valid
air strafing is not a thing like in OW like it is in tf2 and it doesn't function the same either. you just hold a direction and you just start moving faster, but you can't swerve.
Pogo and wall jumping comes up in plenty of maps all the time and it doesn't have to be a literal 90 degree wall. Even rocks and hills will propel you forward with a clean rocket jump

man, seriously, you are just wrong on this. Give up this argument and just go back to being a crit fag. lose with dignity.

there is a very good reason they are dedicating an update to heavy, he is among the worst classes

its not like sitting back and healing is hard. The ONLY difficult thing is landing crossbow shots because going ham for ubersaw hits isn't worth the risk of getting crit and losing your uber, so don't argue that.

>n-n-no man, I only click once I don't even hold the button down
staying behind walls is scary and I even have to right click sometimes.

>even if the team sucks, it just means you won't win
Then, yeah. It means medic is hard when your team is incompetent
Ah so you’re just looking for an excuse to shitpost

>rocket jumping in OW is hard
don't recall implying that.

Nice wojak edit, faggot.

I’m none of those and I play TF2 daily.

if your team is incompetant, your job as medic isn't harder or easier
try to keep everyone overhealed and use uber. Whether or not your team focuses the right things during an uber push or even if your team dies doesn't really change your job

Black, pink and silver are the only correct options.

Crits are the only reason TF2 has survived this long, so no.

If you lose the game what’s the point though

I really want to know what the fuck Valve was thinking when they designed medic. I normally like being the healer in games, but medic is quite possibly the least engaging healer role in any video game ever created by a human.

I don’t know who allowed you internet to post that abhorrent opinion but they should have killed you before you hit send

It was you, and now you have to live with your failure.

You're gonna have to explain that one, buddy.

We go together.

Can make or break a match, can make up the difference between a bad player and good player, can make a bad player feel good, can make a good player even better.

But that doesn’t count because uncle Dane

Kill me, Pete.

Kill me, Pete

yes and not one single person in this entire 300+ post thread or any of the threads that follow it on the exact same topic will ever in their lives be able to come up with a legitimate argument for their continued inclusion. muh compfags is not an argument. the fact that you're so willing to try and delegitimitize people who are straight up better than you at the game as a means of discrediting their arguments might just be an indication that you have no idea what you're talking about. if you're any good at this game you don't want this mechanic in it but please feel free to prove me wrong. i can't wait for the sub 100 hour retards to try and justify the mechanic that lets them get the only kills they've ever gotten.

>Walk into a crit sticky
>but it's ok because I have Vacc

When did you become Vaccpilled, Yea Forums?
Vacc counters most of the cancer shit you see in pubs
>Sniper main? Vacc
>Crits? Vacc
>Spy *teleports inside your asshole*? Doesnt matter, dropping Vacc is worthless
>Heavy medic combo? Vacc
>Demo? Vacc

The only thing that fucks with Vacc is pyro because if you have to switch from a real damage resistance to fire you're fucked

Just because you play something competitively doesn’t mean you’re automatically good at it

they should be equally spread out among the lowest scorers, instead of going to people already doing well.

>I should be rewarded for playing bad

true but the number of skilled competitive players i've seen vastly outnumbers the amount of skilled players who purely play casual. casual enforces bad habits like running at people with your melee because there's a 60% chance you're going to instakill 7/9 classes and really 8/9 because a soldier at full health without a medic up his ass is a rare sight, and even then he'll probably just blow himself up on you. competitive players don't really need crutches like that in order to perform well, they often dominate pubs regardless, even if they solo queue or dick around with a meme loadout.

Anecdotes mean fuckall user. Back up your claims with statistics

>lets make pubstompers stomp even harder

there are people with 50000 hours in this game and they are the ones getting 'random' crits the most, you can't actually defend this. those people aren't even noticing their crits, it makes no difference to them.

Eat shit. A billion flies can't be wrong.

“Play good, get rewarded for playing good.”
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this

Remove mini-crits instead

at least crits have falloff damage

>get rewarded for getting rewarded

uhhhh.

>at least crits have falloff damage

By that he means sub-humans, not normal humans

How about people go to community servers where they can play however they like?
It’s almost like you’re a shitter that doesn’t want to put in the time to get gold

Maybe stop playing a class that can die by simply being breathed on?

>n-no i have to keep my gamer name on top of the scoreboard!

good players do not need crits, you retard

you can't measure the skill of a player in statistics, especially in a game like tf2. what does skill exactly come down to? ability to just kill things, purely deathmatch? that means dick without good gamesense which is immeasurable. how often they win matches? that can have nothing to do with an individual's skill level, especially in pubs which is all anyone on this fuckhole of a board plays anyway. how often you get carried or decimated in pubs flips like a fucking lightswitch, with 24 people on the server you can easily be a drop in the bucket, even if you're carrying your team and performing the best out of the entire server, the enemy team as a unit could just be better. and even if i somehow could gather all this information, exactly how am i supposed to measure it? do i go through thousands upon thousands of individual players and determine which ones are more optimal, pubbers or competitive players? how would i determine this, would it be a random selection of a similar number of each group because that seems awfully unfair to pubbers who make up the majority and are mostly fucking terrible. or do i just pit a random selection of comp players and pubstompers against each other in mge and see who comes out on top because that fucks with the entire gamesense point i brought up earlier. i understand that you want to look smart in front of everyone but asking for statistics on something that is incapable of being accurately measured makes you look exceedingly autistic.

Good players are allowed more crits for being better. I’m sorry that you’re not good yet but please keep trying

>He calls me autistic while writing a giant wall
Too long, only read the end

then go the fuck back to twitter if you can't be assed to read a fucking paragraph you actual spastic child.

This is why I hope they never remove random crits, I get more of them than everyone else

critz don't have fall off tho

Nigger you’re writing a wall of text that you feel proud of. Either whittle down that autism or take a breather

Why would they? Because a vocal minority with a tf2ber as their mouth piece wants it?

Blue, Red, Pink and Silver.

Kill me, Pete

They most certainly do

i do not come to this website because it's diet twitter where you get to say nigger without getting banned, if you can't be bothered to read someone fucking destroying you point by point because even cavemen look down on your idiocy with sadness then fuck off. you are on the wrong website, the post limit is 8 times longer than twitter for a reason and it's people as painfully stupid as you who deserve to be talked down to very deliberately. there's less than a hundred posts left before the thread sinks and if i spent every single post talking like i'm on twitter then i'm just going to waste fucking posting space. i don't care if your adhd riddled brain doesn't like it, that's why you don't belong here, now fuck off and tweet about how bad i hurt your feelings.

user have you ever stopped to think that, and you might want to sit down for this one.

I just don’t care about your autism?

>me want glowy weapon as 'reward'

its almost like getting good is its own reward. its almost like glowy weapon would help new players stay involved in the game.

keep calling me shit if you really value your e-penis, i know i'm not. and i know you are, because you so desperately need crits, lel.

because they're an objectively poorly designed mechanic and the only excuse people can ever come up with is "i like it" and "muh compfags ruin the game" which is worthless in a discussion on whether or not a game mechanic belongs in a game.

Wow really user? Who could have possibly guessed!

Attached: 1567002396971.jpg (567x331, 72K)

>its almost like getting good is its own reward
And you’re right. More crits are icing on the cake and that concept seems utterly lost on people who think teams should consist only of 2 scouts, a demo, a soldier, and a medic

Here’s the penultimate ruined of every “remove random crits argument”:
Make your own fucking server

>Silver, black, pink.
We can not extend this game forever. All things must die in time, the only question is. Shall we give it a good death?

here's the ultimate ruiner of every "keep random crits" argument:
make your own fucking server

And here’s the ultimate counter:
It’s in the game already, don’t have to.

No, Random Crits are fair and balanced

>using this phrase for a niche game like TF2
are you fucking retarded

Yes...

Uh oh I think he’s gonna sperg with another wall of text

you're right user, they are still in the game. just like another extremely fun mechanic, random damage spread. what's that? they removed that awful mechanic because it wasn't fun at all and because unpredictable, purposeless randomness in a skill-based objective driven arena shooter game is terrible game design so they walked back on the initial choice to include it? strange, i wonder if they might do that again.

They shouldn't be allowed on dustbowl that's for sure.

This isnt funny because trannies like Skymen unironically want this

Twelve years and crits still exist user, it’s almost like more people WANT them to stay

and more rats like the pleasure center of their brains stimulated over receiving food and water. don't appeal to majority when the majority of players are jose.gonzales.2007 and the majority of mouthbreathers in this thread.

get in here, fortress friends

>I know, I’ll call them retards!
And you’ll keep losing the “random crits” argument over and over again
