When I played Smash 64 back in the 90s I had to search on the internet how to unlock all the characters. However, because websites were crappy back in the day, I could only find their names. "Ness" I didn't know who or what he was. No picture.
One of my friends claimed that he knew who "Ness" was and told me and my brother that he was a black Yoshi. We actually believed him.
Many years later, when Sakurai added a black Yoshi to Smash 4, we joked that he finally added Ness to the game! (Unfortunately, Ness got scrapped for Smash Ultimate.. Not everyone is back!)
