The gameplay's very solid and the music, characters and story and such are all okay.

Anyone here beat the game WITHOUT the official cheat mode? It always seemed to me that people praising the game all beat it with cheats and simply liked the aesthetic/soundtrack/collectathon.

Yes, the controls are responsive, there are enough gimmicks to keep the gameplay fresh even in post game, the music is great, and I personally liked the visuals.

Had a lot of trouble dashing diagonally on my gamepad (DS4), had to switch to the keyboard.

around 2500 with a lot of play sessions because I was simply exhausted after finishing a single section, but beating them can be extremely rewarding
Started with a keyboard but then I switched over to a controler
I don't know if it made much difference
I didn't play the new maps tho

Not him, but my total death count is just shy of 10k. Pic related is my total death count for the latest chapter, which is the most difficult content in the game. Keep in mind I'm not the best at these kinds of games.

It's great in most areas that are important.
The only thing it falters is in character/story and even then it's not as bad as people make it seem.

I'd say so. I'm not too into platformers and I'm still trying to 100% it.

Fucking destroyed me. I hit 3,000. I was surprised at how absolutely brutal it was, but you do have to get all B side hearts, so it made sense.
