There actually were very commonly whispered industry rumors of an edgy as shit Ice Climber game from Retro back in the early 00's. Supposedly it pretty much ended at the concept art stage. I'm talking like hardcore survival with not even references to the original game. No one knows if they were real but most rumor mongers were convinced and held it to have been true.
If OP is legit I'm assuming he is just hearing some of those residual whispers.
I can't remember the details but it sounded almost like a parody of edgy game reboots like Bomberman Act Zero.
It could have been a big joke just since we had just seen Metroid Prime at the time which had been a heavily guarded secret and made people think Nintendo was now getting srs bsns about combating shooters on other consoles.

As a general rule of thumb I always ignore bullshit where it's some faggot writing out his wishlist like an autistic loser.
Whenever someone seems apathetic about it and throws out some random shit (the most infamous one in my mind being the tomoko post about the Nintendo Switch reveal) I'm more likely to believe it, but that doesn't make it automatically true.
