Will be a recurring boss/character

>Will be a recurring boss/character
>We're going to start seeing the influence of the Reunion on him before Cloud
>By the end of the game he's going to be a mindless cloak number

See, this is why I'm surprised people are annoyed with this guy. He's obviously there to show the Jenova corruption affecting SOLDIERs over time

soldiers are infused with mako, not genova cells

They're infused with both user
>You see, someone in SOLDIER isn't simply exposed to Mako energy. Their bodies are actually injected with Jenova cells...... For better or for worse, only the strong can enter SOLDIER.

oh no no no

His hair is fucking stupid.

>He's obviously there to show the Jenova corruption affecting SOLDIERs over time
I could get behind this, especially if he was optional content. It'd be better to introduce him after the cloaks, but this is an understandable expansion of the original game without fucking with anything.
>WOOOHOOO BIG WHACKY MEME MAN PLEASE REMEMBER ME AND BUY MY MERCHANDISE I'M IMPORTANT
This is what bothers me.

at least it's not Gackt

At least Gackt is not backt.

Got me there. It could be worse.
I'm more upset about the "look at us we're upsetting the canon ooooo" ghosts and stupid, unnecessary changes to the story and its pace as a whole.

And Holo-Shinra. That shit's dumb.

Holo-shinra is fine considering one of your party members has a gatling gun arm. Why risk getting yourself shot?

Holo Shinra is cool, they have the techonology to make giant robots.

Why not be Holo Shinra, it's pretty obvious they're broadcasting that part of the confrontation throughout the city and it makes more sense than just being on a TV screen or some shit if the setting is meant to be futuristic

It's almost like.
That was the fucking point.

>lol you won't shoot me (has giant robot nearby in case he's wrong)
>Barret fails to shoot despite claiming he'd murder that fucker if he got the chance.
>Comes up later as supporting evidence for Barret's arc with Dyne.

>We're going to start seeing the influence of the Reunion on him before Cloud

The reunion's only supposed to directly affect people injected with S-type Jenova cells, though, called Sephiroth copies/clones in-game, (I.E. the Nibelheim survivors and Cloud.) Regular SOLDIERS remain mostly unaffected aside from minor bizarre urges because Sephiroth can't exert direct control over them like he Can with Cloud.

who?

In the original game he just walks out to show off.

I've always wondered, where did Barret come across the info that using Mako energy was killing the planet? I could see him having a grudge against Shinra for what they did to his home. Is Mako energy being the lifestream common knowledge?

Cosmo canyon.

They say this in-game.

I know the people of Cosmo Canyon know but wouldn't they have ejected Barret? Only reason the party gets entry at all is because of RedXIII.

And it was dumb how Barret didn't killed him in that moment. The nigger had a gatling gun arm and never used it against NPCs.

He honestly might have made it up and been right by accident.

Why risk getting impaled by leaving your security so lax and keeping your best units out of the city?

And the game more or less spells out why.
Not your fault for being too stupid to understand a game aimed at children.

That's Kunsel isn't he?

I haven't played the game in 20 years user, I can't remember every detail.

>Eventually turns into a Jenova abomination like Hojo.
Hope they do something like this. The assimilation aspect of Jenova was underutilized.

It's his fucking character arc.
He's weighed down by extreme guilt and has trouble making decisions when he can put a face to who he's hurting, because he ended up indirectly killing the people he cared about. It's why he can mow down mooks and monsters, blow up facilities and hurt people, and he fires his gun around constantly, but doesn't directly take lives. He comes to terms with his guilt after the showdown with Dyne yadda yadda.

It's not dumb that he doesn't shoot to kill. It's baked into his character.

The ghosts are the big thing that bother me.

I know people hate Holo-Shinra because him showing up in person is showing how little he cares, but couldn't you say that the hologram conveys the same idea? Like they're so beneath him that he doesn't even bother leaving his office to give them the time of day?

That could be a neat gut punch.

Who are you quoting?

Publicly they're said to be infused with mako because the Jenova project is secret. The Jenova cells are what allows the mako to enhance their strength, without the cells mako just poisons you. They need to have both, but only a tiny amount of Jenova cells are used and candidates are selected for their willpower so SOLDIERs don't end up as mindless puppets. You can meet an Ex-SOLDIER in Junon who, if you come back on disc 3, will be wearing a black cloak because he felt an urge to do so, but he doesn't join the Reunion or become like the tattooed men.

>The ghosts are the big thing that bother me.
I'm worried they're going to be jingling keys at the start/end of every "boring" scene, based on what we've seen. Even more worried they're gonna tie into some meta shit of this being a retelling, like it's all a simulation and they're ghosts in the machine.
>I know people hate Holo-Shinra because him showing up in person is showing how little he cares, but couldn't you say that the hologram conveys the same idea?
Said this in another thread already, but:
Shinra says he doesn't care, but it's really about putting on a front. If he really didn't care he would ignore them. The hologram presents a level of apathy that isn't there originally, it takes his words at face value.

Even if you wanted to go that route, it would be more effective to only have Heidegger address them, really show how little Shinra cares.

Is it supposed to be Demyx allusion or Nomura is just recycling that design.

Nomura's been recycling hair and faces since the 90s, where have you been?

>Axel was based on Reno
>Demyx is going to be a Soldier
>Luxord is going to be a Soldier
>Marluxia is going to be a Soldier
>Larxene was based on Elena?

Aw no. Aw fuck.

Why is Blonde Gladio in the game?

>Larxene was based on Elena?
Aya Brea with simplified Seymour hair.
Also Yuna is Rinoa with Selphie's hair.
You're welcome.

Don't Gladio and Wakka basically have the same face in 2D?
