I'm only 22 and first played as Terry via the PS3 PS2 Classic version of CvS2 like 5 years ago. That said, I did buy SamSho II on Virtual Console when I was younger which is probably why I would've wanted Haohmaru more. I've since played KOFXIII & XIV and emulated '98 & 2000 a bit. In all of those except XIV I put Terry on point because he's easy to grasp and I like Power Dunk. Never played a Fatal Fury game outside of about an hour of Garou, where I played Tizoc.

I have no problem with Terry in Smash at all and I'm excited to see what music/Spirits come with him, but I would've been more excited for Haohmaru or Marco.

2000 is underrated. The roster is solid and I like the striker mechanic a lot. Some SNK games explored going full tag fighter but I'd much rather see a traditional non-tag KOF team game where you call assists of your actual teammates; as you lose characters you have less assists but have more maximum meter/resources.

KoF always had its own story focusing on its original characters, the "crossover" characters are all part of the same universe in those games too. A better comparison to Marvel vs Capcom would be Neogeo Battle Coliseum.

KOF's original characters have stories. Kyo, Iori, K', Ash, Rugal, etc. all have stories in the series. It's just that they combined the FF & AoF characters into it over time since the 3v3 gimmick was conducive to a big roster.

Tab opens up a settings menu for controls and such, ~ opens up options which after some scrolling up lets you overclock the emulated arcade unit to make the game run better.

If that was added in Melee, there would have been a lot more people who wouldn't have known about it but many would have looked it up if the character made it seem interesting and then made their judgement from there. If Touhou were added now, nearly everyone knows what it is because exposure to the fandom pops up everywhere and many find that fandom to be insufferable so they're already predisposed to not want to see it in Smash. There are no "literal who"s anymore because we've already at least seen these characters somewhere and made our judgements on them and their series based on whatever information already exposed us to them. People only ever call them a literal who based on how often they see the series discussed or what they think the mainstream audience is aware of.

Basically, unknowns used to be exciting because the lack of mainstream internet actually made them total unknowns to us and we could look at them and their series with fresh, untainted eyes. Now that internet has become as big as it is, there are no actual unknowns anymore and we've already made our judgements of them based on whatever exposure we've been given.

I knew of him from EGM articles back when I bought the magazine monthly. I was always interested in any fighters they published about like MvC. Used to read through all the colorful movelists and decide which character I'd want to use despite never having access to the games.

I always prefered Andy myself. His moveset was more versatile especially when they expanded it in KoF98.

I was at the convention in Chantilly, Virginia on August 8 and played their Fatal Fury cabinet which I obviously recognized, like any sane person would. I didn't have very much experience with SNK, but I'm well acquainted with Metal Slug. It seems to be more widely known.
Pure coincidence that I got these roms before that leak. The only one I had never heard of was Samurai Shodown. Only discovered it before the PS4 game came out.
