If the only way your game becomes a fighting game is to disable all that aspects that are used in marketing / actually make the game fun, it's not a fighting game.

I've been messing around in P4U because I never played it when it had an active playerbase and I don't have good internet at the moment so I can't play anything online. I wish I got into P4U back when it was new, it seems fun. I'm also considering going back to Tekken when my internet's back up, but I don't know if I'll stick with it for long, I mostly just play Guilty Gear with a bit of SamSho on the side.

In the games I mentioned, Answer for GG, Leo for Tekken and Yoshitora for SamSho. I feel like I would play Adachi in P4U if I took it seriously. I also really like Byakuya in UNIST, but I don't play UNIST much anymore because there were a couple of things about it that bothered me a lot and I couldn't get over them.

They're all setup and spacing. You'll get nowhere until you know the effective ranges of all your moves and what combination of projectiles and whip moves are strong neutral/pressure tools. Also know how to get out of pressure (shorthop Nair & Up Special) and know when a tether recovery will be the safer option than uppercutting to the ledge (also note that Fair, Bair, AND Up Air all tether). After that you can learn confirms like Holy Water into FSmash, a returning Cross into Up Smash, Dair staircase into Up Special, and Axe setups to break shields or fuck with recoveries because of its weird trajectories and ability to travel through floors and still have an active hitbox.

I'd rather have a CvS3 or TvC2 over a new MvC. They had their chance with MvCI and blew it, so give another crossover a shot.
Also, I hope SF5 (or if they decide to abandon 5 and just make 6) introduces Rival Schools and Slam Masters characters, since they're also canon to the SF/Final Fight universe. I wouldn't mind a new Star Gladiator or Darkstalkers game either.

CvS3 could be great if Capcom actually greenlights it, so long as they either bring back Itsuno to direct it or have SNK develop it (so technically it would be SvC2: This Time It's Good). TvC2 is a pipe dream and Tatsunoko's side barely has 5 characters that aren't playable in the original worth adding unless they go with more villains maybe (I'd be down with Buraiking Boss).
Slam Masters getting recognition would be awesome, given its connections to Final Fight. RS & Star Gladiator are also Itsuno games, so they'd be great if he's on them. The thing is he's probably tied up in DMC5SE & Dragon's Dogma 2 for the next ~5 years.
