Let's talk about this additional DLC confirmed for Smash from a logistical, non rosterfagging perspective

First I'd like you to take a look at the image, specifically the highlighted part.
>Additional fighters will not be included as part of the fighters pass
Now this on it's own doesn't necessarily mean much beyond telling buyers that the 25 dollars they already spent won't cover characters beyond DLC pack 5.
HOWEVER, the sentence continues and becomes something worth discussing
>and will be sold separately.

This is where the questions begin to arise, what, exactly, did Nintendo mean by that?
>The new fighter pass will be sold separately from the last fighter pass, but the 5 man pack format will be retained
>Fighters are going to be sold individually from this point forward (very likely considering that they don't seem to know how many they're going to end up making)
>Fighters are going to be sold as just fighters with no stage or music (would corroborate Sakurai's mention of budget issues and the stage select screen doesn't currently have enough slots for a next button)

Also, do you think DLC besides fighters are on the way?
>Stages
>Costumes
>Features
>Music
>Mii costumes (this one is extremely likely)
Personally I'd fucking love if they started selling music packs. I'd pay good money to get Cadence of Hyrule songs for the Zelda stages.

Also, what are your thoughts on the likelihood of spirits and first party characters? On the one hand it's likely that the future DLC were not planned in tandem with the base game, meaning that the current spirit list and their intentions for DLC could clash. But on the other, Sakurai has made a statement about the future DLC similar to the fighter pass' about "bringing more new universes into the series" indicating that it will once again be never before seen guest characters. However, I personally would no longer write off spirits or first party characters entirely.

looking at the stage roster we have terry stage, the 5th fighters stage and then one more slot for something else. I feel that the additional DLC fighters will just be character packs with a song or two, no new stages.

>and then one more slot for something else
That slot is actually used in the settings when you decide the random selection for your ruleset, all custom stages are umbrellad in one box

I just wish there could be DLC about ost or stages more than fighters. I would pay the shit out of Rayman or Shovel Knight ost remixed by Nintendo without needing to fight for a spot in the roster

Me too man

I'd love if they brought back missing stages for "everywhere is here!"

ah, your right didn't think of that, theory still stands though. most likely no new stages just character/music bundles

I could definitely see that, makes me sad though, I fucking love good stages and the DLC stages have all been top tier so far.

God willing they just keep pushing the custom stages switch further back into page 2.

My thoughts are the original roster and all DLC (up to and including fighter 5) were all decided right at the beginning of the game's development (hence Rex not making the cut).
These additional DLC fighters feel like a very recent decision due to the game / DLC selling so well.
I wouldn't be surprised if at the time they hadn't decided what format these new fighters will take (stages, music etc...). I don't think however we'll get anything more than just fighters, and perhaps 3 or 4 of them (all being sold seperately).
I'd imagine they'll all be from video games not yet represented in Smash and perhaps from more recent titles.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rex make an appearance and an Astral Chain rep.

From what I can tell, fuckery with music licensing makes selling music on its own almost impossible to do without forcing in an arbitrary amount of markup, so chances are any new songs are going to follow the MEGALOVANIA approach, and be attached to Mii Fighters.

Please tell me if I'm wrong, Yea Forums, because I'd love to laugh in the face of the person who told me this.

This is a good thread.

Given that the fighters will be sold separately, I believe that these guys will be full fan favorites, and no more Nintendo/Sakurai bias, since they'll have to sell like shit (opposed to the fighter pass, who everyone just bought blindly)

HE’S IN

I don't know why they brought back a good 85% of all the past stages from the past and decided to just stop there. Considering basically all of them were basically remade from scratch anyways. At that point they might as well have went the whole mile. Especially considering they didn't add new stages for returning franchises other than Mario and Zelda anyways.

They're probably sell a few echo fighters. I'd be okay with it considering how underutilized they are in general.

I'd like to see the roster hit 100 with more echos and uniques.

most likely they'll either shrink the boxes or add another page
remember when it looked like this?

ANY Xeno rep. I don't care which one. Gears, Saga, Blade, it doesn't matter

Would you rather get new first party fighters and returning stages (ex: a new Pokémon character that comes with Poké Floats), or more new third party fighters and new stages (the current setup)?

only bringing back pac-land and not pac-maze fucking hurts

Why not both?

All the main characters I want are third party so I would just stick with that

Pacman is the only third party that deserves multiple stages

>they chose the shit pac man level over the good one
Fuck

I know Sakurai said Homerun Contest is pretty much the last mode to be added but what are the chances of new modes being added anyway?
I just want Break the Targets

I just want his 3DS stage back.

More third parties unless they turn some assist trophies into fighters.

I miss Smash Run. Shit just turn it into "Spirits" Run or something. I'll fight god damn cardboard cutout pngs or possessed normal fighters and Assist Trophies. Honestly it was a blast just to click random for. Either way I feel like Spirits could be integrated with it as a replacement for custom parts.

>no namco Museum based on the aethstetics of the PS1 collections
>no mappy stage
>no galaga stage
>NO PAC-MAN WORLD STAGE

i hate that the only reference to world is his kickflip, I'd take revroll or butt bounce any day over his fire hydrant.

I'd take a cadence mii outfit to get some tracks

I'd seriously love an array of classic namco arcade stages

>This is where the questions begin to arise, what, exactly, did Nintendo mean by that?
They probably just don't want to commit to a set number of characters

Gimme Nasty Majesty

First parties if I get Midna or Waluigi somehow. Otherwise, I'm still hoping for Travis Touchdown.

>Being so emotional that you can't talk about the possibility of a character you want being deconfirmed

I really wish they'd update the game with new music as time goes on.
Three Houses has a fucking kino soundtrack, and I'd love to listen to some of its tracks in Smash without us getting yet another Fire Emblem character. Shovel Knight's been deconfirmed, but what's the harm in some rips from the game? Megalovania in Smash is glorious and easily one of the best Smash remixes ever; how great would it be if we could get Battle Against a True Hero or ASGORE without worrying if fucking Frisk will get in?
There's no reason not to periodically add more music, especially if it's music from recent Nintendo releases like Astral Chain and Three Houses.

I absolutely agree on the Three Houses music, it needs to be in. Edge of Dawn, Chasing Daybreak, Apex of the World, God Shattering Star, there's a bunch of brilliant tracks, and they're all battle-appropriate. Honestly though, I do think Byleth is a lock, if only because Three Houses hasn't had a spirit event, unlike other major Nintendo games this year, despite how hard they've been shilling Three Houses.

Goddamn I wish I could sort the stages / characters however I wanted

same
still wack they didn't allow you to sort by series

They are gonna sell DLC characters without the constraint of having to bundle them with stages or music, like with Smash 4.

I mean, let's be real here, Sora is inevitable, and you don't expect Sakurai to be able to have the funds to license "Simple and Clean" into smash

I think that this is a response to fan outcry about the big three (Geno, Shantae, Waluigi), so Sakurai's going to slot in these single fighters without much extra content, as Geno and Waluigi are both Mario characters and Shantae could find a home in DK's stages (really have no idea here never played her game).

actually the only fighters without a stage in smash 4 were all cut/first party dudes
every third party got a stage so it's way more likely they'll keep that up unless they actually start scraping the bottom of the first party barrel

We can already buy the Fighters Pass or just buy the characters separately. Don't know why they wouldn't give us those options again.
Stupid thread

Why are smashietards excited for fucking paid dlc?

Sakurai said that he wanted to "add more worlds" which suggests non-first party DLC, though if they can't get stages I wouldn't want them added in. It's not right for a third party character to get into the game, complete with music, and then lack a stage for their series

here's a thought: What if they do Echo Stages? Like reskins or remodels of existing stage layouts, but with a new music selection and are chosen by swapping them out on the stage select?

Attached: 1488253687_cover.jpg (500x500, 33K)

>why are people excited for more content for their game
it will forever be a mystery

I want online Smash Run and online Squad Strike. All that I ask for.

Autism.

>enjoying having to buy overpriced tiny multiple pieces of dlc to get the "complete" game
>base game is already grossly overpriced
>there's no servers and everything is p2p so Nintendo isn't even spending money to maintain the game alive

Nintendies are disgusting drooling tards.

>big three
ok

I want Porky, Jak and Daxter, or Earthworm Jim. If one of these characters got in, I'd be forever happy.

>60 bucks for 69 fighters with 103 stages and almost 1000 music tracks is overpriced
what

Remember kids, when some worthless nigger sport game comes out with a bunch of new things stacked on top of what was already there during the last release the year before, it's not right.

But when Nintendo does it and sell you another smashie for 60 bucks + infinite amount of dlc it's OK BECAUSE IT'S NINTENDO, OMG BASED

Klonoa bros where you at?

man fuck mii costumes. I know everyone is pretending to like them now they can dress up as famous skeleton but the fact that 3 of the least liked and least played characters in the game get costumes and nobody else does is retarded. And most of them look like dogshit. I like Goemon and you wouldn't catch me dead running around with that stupid fucking mii face sticking out the front.

They're in

Attached: Sonic meets Kingdom Hearts.webm (1920x1080, 2.28M)

I want game mode DLC. I don't know how I'm expected to still want to play the online in this game because there's literally nothing else to do. I got Banjo, did classic, played online long enough to get to elite, and haven't touched it since. And I wouldn't have even had online if I didn't renew it for Mario Maker recently, Smash online is fucked. There are way too many characters for this little content.

Yeah user they put no work into making Smash Ultimate happen. They just sat around for 3 years. If you somehow aren’t just shitposting, and actually believe this, you’re truly retarded.

>>enjoying having to buy overpriced tiny multiple pieces of dlc to get the "complete" game
They're just adding more characters. That's hardly finishing the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's an option once all the characters are revealed.

>>enjoying having to buy overpriced tiny multiple pieces of dlc to get the "complete" game
Unlike you, some of us don’t have autism and aren’t compelled to purchase every Mii Costume in order to consider our game “complete”
