furfags and memes

Patrician Toriel porn

game is full of fapbaits for everyone

Tumblrfags pushing that shit and teens obsessing over it.

>furfags
are a tiny and insignificant minority of people who play video games

Its an alright game.

turn-based combat sucks ass, this is one of the only games that actually managed to figure out how it can be fun

and the pacifist-neutral-genocide routes, it's sorta fun to try and go through each and every one of 'em.

It was made with soul.

This.

>it's thread #745754 of 'h-hey guys, wasn't undertale really great' episode, tapping out at 50 replies and brought to you by 4 fat fucking furry homestuck fans sitting in a discord, like the rest of this game's target audience
even console war horseshit is better than this disingenuous horseshit

>Couldn't even flip the meme around so it made sense
Undertale is trash accept it

user are you ok? tell me who hurt you, was it one of these homestuck fans? where did he touch you?

I swear that I've played way to many games that people would consider fapbait but not once did I get that with Undertale. Not even Toriel, and she's probably the hottest one of the bunch and even then I still never got horny over that. Probably because Undertale R34 makes me cringe.

good character design.

>already established homestuck fandom
>popular millenial sense of humor
>simple yet catchy designs, memorable cast
>excellent ost
>short and cheap, yet replayable
>good at tugging your heartstrings, even if the writing itself is not that good
>furry fandom pandering
>memetastic genocide route
>demolishes the 4th wall, "plays the player" deal
>emotional game makes it excellent for streamers

That face looks like a black hole.

I, at least, liked it because it had some nice twists on the standard progression of classic RPGs and actually used the fact that it was a game, all the way down to something as simple as saving and making a new game, to tell an interesting story. Undertale isn’t a game you play for DEEEEEP JRPG mechanics or for a crazy plot, so you’ll be disappointed if that’s what you’re looking for.

why is everyone in tf2 a furry help

It's an incredibly charming game with a cast that develops throughout the game. Pacifist battle mechanics are engaging enough to last through the length of the game and genocide takes it to a solid end in difficulty. The meta stuff throughout the game makes it super memorable. I won't forget the first time I did floweys fight.
It gets way too much hate from people who are annoyed with the fan base.

>mostly humor based RPG
>can be played multiple times for different experiences/stories
>music is catchy
>combat is simplistic version of Knights in the Nightmare which itself is unique battle system that no one else bothered to emulate because only autist played the game

That's why

It has very good reaction bait for the streamers and youtubers, also the humor is very "internet" without directly referencing memes. The combat system is also a neat thing since it makes the turn-based game have more levels of execution to it. There's plenty of small details to a lot of dialogue, and hidden dialogue, that helped people discuss it so much for a bit when it released. The characters are either cutesy, funny or both, which have a pretty broad appeal as well. The music fits a lot of the games scenarios very well, while being pretty good.

Furfags and literal underage. for example.
For absolute example.
Half the things on this list are objectively terrible, yet the fanbase defends it. Popular, millenial style humor. Homestuck fandom. Writing is not good. Furry fandom pandering. Need to break the 4th wall instead of having a contained universe. Good for streamers.
For fucks sake.

just two words for you:
streamers

fucking this

Because it was genuinely clever, humorous, and had an amazing OST.
>but tumblr like thing, that mean thing bad!
Yea Forums went fucking apeshit over this game when it first came out. It was only about a week later that people started suddenly deciding they hated it.

Other indie rpgs didn't really capitalise on current trends. They also don't have exaggerated characters for mentally ill people to obsess and wank over

Fanbase built in after piggybacking off of Earthbound

I agree most of these are cancer but you are being a tryhard if you're complaining about the writing, humor and 4th wall breaking. The writing is far above the industry's standards, some of the characters have great humor (specifically sans with his boomer sarcasm, which is far from millenial humor) and the 4th wall breaking is great. It was also only done at the beginning and ending of the game, you can't say it's overused.

Attached: 1545843039389.png (545x480, 478K)

>Earthbound
And Homestuck. Don't forget Homestuck.

game = good
fandom = cancer
OST = god tier
Toby = literally /ourguy/ and a dork

i hate pixel indieshit usually and was hoodwinked in to playing this. i loved it desu, the writing is clever and the characters are good. The music is fucking top notch.

t. mad furfag

I want to lick his butthole

Your entire post is objectively opinion. That the writing is 'above industry standard and that it's great.' The 4th wall breaking is 'great'. Using it at all can't be 'too much.' Like user if you're going to argue this as your opinion, then there you go, but recognize it as that, because as you said, this shit is literal cancer.

Doesn't that apply to your post? What you said was also your opinion, despite the fact you said it was "objectively [sic] terrible". Fuck I'll never understand people like you who give their opinion, and at the first sign someone disagrees they just flip the table by saying "well dude calm down this is subjective it's all your opinion"

I dunno, honestly. It's a cute little game, but I can't really explain the ravenous fanbase it has. I guess the characters just really struck a chord with people.

>flips table and freaks out zomg!
Really, user, really?
That's the entire point, you absolute fucking donkey. You're not going to sit there and argue that those things I mentioned aren't terrible, you agreed, in two separate posts. You're only not doing so now, because I called out your post as opinion. Like I said, recognize it for what it is.

Retard
Retard
The game is extremely accesible and focused more on establishing an emotional connection than on gameplay, it was made with a lot of love and care, little details everywhere, small dialogue changes on all npcs, the calls describing every single area, different conversations with most characters, let's compare it for example to another indie game that came out at the same time, Lisa, Lisa arguably has a better story and is more emotional, but Lisa is incredibly way less accesible, where both games were inspired by Mother, one grabbed the combat without the fun part of it (the music) where the other one focused on the humour and atmosphere.

phoneposters should be shot on sight, but then how would they make their daily morning undertale threads, right?

You are the only one who said that those things being bad was "objective". I never pretended what I said wasn't an opinion. By this point I'm beginning to think you are not merely pretending to be retarded.

>4chanx timestamp filename is a phonepost
cringe newfag

Good job, you're aware it's your opinion, and, as you said too, half the things on that list are cancer. If you weren't being such an obstinate fuck because someone doesn't like undertale you'd be close to reaching the point.

It was a game purely made from heart. Not many games can actually claim that, and it was special.
there was a frenworld rpg being teased yesterday, I hope with all my heart that it delivers. It might even be the next undertale

>nuh-uh!
shot on sight and buried with their blurry thumbnails

Most Indie RPG's use RPG maker which is limited.

Undertale used Game Maker which allowed for more programming.

Plus, other Indie RPG's do more niche stuff. Undertale pretty much is intertwined to Internet culture so it reached a wider audiance.

Attached: 1545516557780.gif (299x299, 2.59M)

because furries/bronies get a raging hardon from customization and tf2 lets you customize pretty much everything. loadouts, sprays, skins, HUDs, servers
and the customizations can be very visible to other players with cosmetics, weapon names and more. add the weird social media stuff Steam allows for and it's pushed right over the edge

You’re right, and Yea Forumss hate for it is overblown, but I will admit that when a shitty group of people attach themselves to a game, movie, or show it can put a damper on it. For example, I enjoy Dr Who for its campiness, but fuck did the fanbase become super cringy after a few years. I enjoyed All Dogs Go To Heaven as a kid, yet nowadays it’s hard to ignore how furries are disturbingly attached to those sorts of things

The writing is fun and engaging

Nah clearly it's because Steam is cringe and bluepilled you basedboy cuckold bugman incel tranny
Come home to EGS white man.

>the writing is clever
The writing is a clusterfuck and relies on 1) Shock value, and 2) The initial good impression of the characters before they -jump the shark 5 minutes later.

It has it's moments, but it's clear the dev team was full of "yes" guys and no one was there to filter out the shit ideas.

Because it’s fun. Full of soul and wit. Fun characters and combat system, and the music is pretty great too.

It was “yes” guys because the only person actually making the game was one person. The other people involved were just some extra artists, were they not?

It's not an RPG. You could say it's inspired by RPGs.

not him but stop being retarded please, Undertale's writing IS above industry standards if nothing else just because most of it is filled to the brim with either no writing what so ever or the most barebones, uninspired stuff imaginable.

It can suck not to be able to discuss something, but if other people liking something is genuienly making you enjoy it less then you're heading into NPC territory.

Go look at patreon income for people making furry porn games

Well, that explains it. He really needs to hire some "no" guys.

Attached: 1548147739520.png (665x536, 242K)

not him but frankly undertale fans don't play anything but AAA shlock and other 'internet culture' games, (since that's what half the fucking replies in this thread unironically praise,) so they legitimately wouldn't know. show me an undertale fan who's also played sunless sea or pathologic, just to use 2 recent examples.

they don't exist.

>4 years later
>still rent free

Can't wait to see you guys coping once Deltarune is out and there's actual discussion again!

yeah nah. every fucking morning, it's the same thread. you faggots are the obsessed ones.

op here
I am not in either side you mentally ill faggots
was just thinking about the game and wondering why it got so famous to the point of being in smash whereas other indie games of similar quality die quickly
I am not a fan of undertale but nor do I hate it, for me it was just a fun game

I don't think you realize that indie games for the most part are also at fault of having shitty writing, it's just easier for a good story to come out of them because it's far less people working on the project.

also I don't know about pathologic but if sunless skies is anything like sunless sea then the writting is nothing special in that one neither, and GOD DAMN that gameplay was pure trash

Me. I play (and enjoy) a little bit of everything

the size of indie studios relaying to the stories they tell is completely outside of the argument being had. if you think undertale legit has better writing than either, you're smooth brain. and the argument is, as you just kind of proved, undertale fandom isn't attracted to or playing either. there are more examples, but no, the crux of this isn't 'the size of studios', it's that undertale does not have above industry standard writing and people arguing that literally havent played anything else.

>disregard anything game provides, but claim "ad furry"

the correct response to most situations

internet culture

Furries are literally responsible for undertale being made.

> Undertale was added to the Internet hall of fame before any of the boomer trash that Yea Forums likes
Based

Just because is made by furries doesn't mean the game itself should be despised.
Same with Sonic games. Just because fans are autistics af, doesn't mean you can enjoy.
That's pretty much poisoning the well.

Becuase Moon Remix RPG Adventure is such an inventive game that even a game heavily inspired by it stands out.

Also, the designer has been soaking in creative communities for all his life. Similar to Christian Whitehead.

It was good

Stop projecting. I'm just stating a fact, even though expecting literal creators and backers of said project not to have influence, is a particular kind of willful ignorance.
"So sorry."

Right place, right time (Youtube Pre-Ad crisis)
The game had good music. Also Toby was already somewhat known as a composer and Earthbound hack maker.

Homestuck

The difference between a successful and a non-successful indie rpg is how much effort the writer puts into making the player care about the characters.
A lot of indie devs live in a bubble and just assume that everyone is going to care for their little OCs as much as they do, but unfortunately for them it doesn't work like that.
If a character doesn't strike me as interesting or fun in any way, I couldn't care less about what happens to them later down the line, but some indie devs don't get that, they only know their own unconditional love for their characters.
Undertale's characters are very bombastic and are made with the purpose of entertaining the audience. With each character, Toby said to himself "Okay, how am I going to make somebody who's never heard of Undertale before be interested in these characters?".

What games are in their?

Toby's the only indie dev who doesn't constantly shove pride flags into everything and has twitter meltdowns.

Homestuck.
