Was he a good villain?
Handsome Jack
No.
Salved by Dameon Clarke's ad libbing
wtf is up with his face?
What's wrong your facccccccceeeee
He's handsome
He's never used it
Terrible character, just like everyone in borderlands. I'll say he's the best character in the series, thanks to the voice actor, but no one could overcome Burch's awful writing
Well he's gone in 3. Thank fuck. I still don't imagine it'll have great writing, but the lore is decent enough
Did literally nothing wrong in pre-seaual until the writers remembered they had to make him a villian so they made him pull a ton of stupid shit right at they end and they STILL managed to make Lilith the true villain.
Rhys is in from tales so im expecting him to be back either in some form of multipersonalities or just a flat out vomputer program.
One of the best villains in gaming history, up there with Vaas from Far cry 3
he was entertaining sure, good? eh, had good motives at least
he was until they decided to put him fucking everywhere
>guy does extremely terrible and awful things
>keeps saying he's the hero
This is all his character is and nothing he said was ever remotely funny. The fact that most of his "funny" dialogue is ad-lib because Burch's "funny" writing was even worse really makes me wonder how the man got a job in the first place.
Couldn't even give him a good death either. He just stands there talks about how you ruined everything and you can either shoot him or let Lilith push a purple cloud on him and watch him fall over when she has the ability to make people explode. This whole game just felt like one big middle finger to the player.
Not really, he was two dimensional because the writers suck at making fleshed out characters. It's telling that the second other writers gave him some work he became a much better antagonist.
I was referring to Burch. He's gone. I liked Jack and the writing in Tales was pretty good. In fact the writes from Tales is the lead writer in 3
He literally killed the Merrif and talked about how good killing felt, he tricked the vault haunters in the first game so he could gain access to the vault, and used his daughter as a tool
I liked him, more in the Pre-Sequel rather than BL2.
Jack’s charismatic and good-looking, but very obnoxious and arrogant. I think they did an alright job of him annoying you as you went along on your adventure. I never really felt like I didn’t want to kick his teeth in while
playing Borderlands 2.
The Pre-Sequel gave him a lot more depth, so he stopped being just an arrogant charismatic turbobillionaire. Guy tried his best to be a hero, and while he was a little manic, he kept getting worse because of people constantly fucking betraying him.
The Pre-Sequel did an alright job of making Jack and you as a player go from Just Another Vault Hunter Hero to a villain.
Jack’s my favorite type of villain to throw at players in my tabletop campaigns, mostly because he fits the Simple, High Octane Fun MO my approach to being a dungeon-master is like.
>Jack’s my favorite type of villain to throw at players in my tabletop campaigns
You're a shitty DM if you think this guy is a "good villain"
Jack’s VA is amazing, he saw how bad the script was and adlibbed hard
blame Lilith
And it still wasn't funny. Really shows how much of a shitshow the writing was for this game.
Alright. If that’s what you think.
Borderlands’ humor is just the worst “lol randumz” bullshit. It’s the least funny thing ever.
I think they made the right decision not to take themselves too seriously and keep the game’s tone more or less light.
Hopefully the new writer from Tales does a better job.
>merrif tried to kill him
>the “heroes” constantly talk about how fun killing is
>tricked some mercs into saving the planet from the lance and giant space vagina
>angel literally melted his wife
>Jack’s my favorite type of villain to throw at players in my tabletop campaigns, mostly because he fits the Simple, High Octane Fun MO my approach to being a dungeon-master is like.
Holy fuck I am so glad that I never have to play in your campaigns.
Tales was not a videogame but it had a decent story
My point wasn't that he killer the Merrif, it was that he says "that felt kinda good"
Too bad the game goes back and froth between being being mean spirited and LOLRANDUM because they weren't sure how to approach the tone for this game. You got Jack early on killing an entire train full of innocent people punctuated by him talking about buying a diamond horse he calls Buttstalion. He talks about gouging out the eyes of man in front of his kids, forgets what he was trying to say and calls you a bitch. What am I supposed to feel after hearing this? Disgust and wanting to see this guy die faster or laugh out how "CUUURRRAAAZZZAAAYYYY" this guy is? This game takes its tame building this guy up as the biggest piece of shit person and gets a anti-climatic end.
This game just sucked. The only thing it has going for it, is the music and it's a shame it's connected to this shit series.
The Destroyer didn't look like a space vagina. You're thinking of the Raak Hive
Okay maybe it did look like a space vagina
Yeah the games themselves are kind of shit. I only hold a bare modicum of fondness for BL because of how I played it with my friends back as a kid. Beyond bare nostalgia value?- It’s kind of a shitty class-shooter. I wish I wouldn’t have all these Wacky Randomized Gunz because most of them handle like a shrivelled dog cock despite their impressive statblocks.
I like the concept of Jack more than the execution, if I’m honest. He made me hate him, he was annoying. I didn’t find any of it funny though.
The music’s fuckin great, also. I discovered Cage the Elephant because of these guys.
I was talking about the in house made songs. I hated Ain't no Rest for the Wicked (no thanks to the radio constantly playing it) and No Place for a Hero was meh.
it's gonna be cringe you stupid child.
would have been forgettable if it wasnt for dameon clarkes voice work.
So is FL4K loader bot from Tales?
ah lmao
Yeah, those were pretty good as well though.
Can’t say the same as far as radio goes, I wish they played something akin to Cage the Elephant here.
Wasn't it just dubstep?
No, that's Saints Row.
HE
No. He was loud, annoying, and would not shut up.
