Everyone keeps bringing up that they got Mitsoda back. It's like, nigga, there were 9 writers or something on the original game! People are giving Mitsoda WAAAAAY too much credit. He alone isn't going to save shit. Especially not when the real head writer this time is a blogger sjw whose closest claim to fame is creating a "controversy" over a "rape scene" in Hotline Miami 2 which isn't even in the game and they just made up to get attention and become internet famous.

The music and voice acting will probably be decent or better. If we're lucky the writing will be not bad. If we're really lucky it might even have decent world building and role-playing (though given that no other game wants to do those things anymore I fucking doubt it).

The combat though literally doesn't even work. Gunshots don't register and punching and melee don't seem to be controllable beyond swing-and-pray. And there's a flip move for some reason because you can tell the devs thought it would look cool in the trailer, but it clearly serves no gameplay purpose and doesn't appear to be doing literally anything in the actual gameplay footage. This kind of shit is what's going to end up being the biggest issue. The original game my have had boring, button-mashy combat, but at least shit did what it was supposed to do.

If we get a 7/10 caliber game it'll be a minor miracle.

Once I saw the gameplay I pretty much gave up.
I know that the first Bloodlines was enjoyable mainly because of the story and quests, but there's absolutely no excuses for the clunky mess they had the balls to show us.

I think some of the people who complain about combat in the game are people who played it once with no prior knowledge about how builds work and ended up underpowered by the late game and most of their problems stemmed from that. If you go in with a plan for your build and make an effort to deliberately reduce the frustration then you can do just that. The game is a lot less bullshit with a proper build.

Why would that be necessary? At most you'd need to design a journal screen and add a method like createJournalEntry() to the quest class. And I doubt they don't have any journal whatsoever so they'll more likely need to add a conditional to a method in the journal class to switch between short and full versions of quest description depending on whether quest markers are on or off. Thankfully journal entries don't need to be voiced so Mitsoda, for example, could just sit down for a few hours and write full versions for every quest, put them in a resource file and later check with QA if things work as intended.

Seriously, we've been waiting for the ability to thoroughly mod the original since forever. We still can't, but at least we'll be able to do proper mods for the sequel. The fanbase for this shit is so intense that you KNOW there's going to be some people that'll spend some serious time making really in-depth mods that could fix some of the issues in the base game. Everything from weapon accuracy, to lack of depth of role-playing, and a number of other problems could be fixed by the fan community. I know that's utter bullshit that the fans are going to have to do the devs' jobs for them, but this has a seriously real chance of eventually becoming a "fun with mods" game.

Apparently the reason why the voice acting was good was not so much the voice actors as it was the writers were involved in the voice acting performance process. A lowkey acknowledgement of the mages would be nice too seeing as they were the only WoD group not to get a mention in the first game.

The discarding weapon thing is entirely a game design choice you fucking quadruplenigger. You get a super powerful flamethrower right before a boss room, use it briefly, then move on back to a normal weapon. The original just gave you a massive power boost whenever you acquired it with no reprecussions or limitations aside from the ammo you could stock up. Moving and rotating inventiories and loadouts is completely fine, it genuinely takes more effort to design a system like this than it does to just say, "ok it's in your inventory now find it in your hotbar."

The melee weapons have their own health bar, also, keep in mind, the exploration and movement is context sensitive, you press X to do an awesome move and climb a wall, zero skill involved, the perspective also changes because, they can't make a good FPP animation.

You're not speaking by objective terms. The game does not literally work, it has bugs, the first had game breaking bugs as well, if you remember. It is very unlikely the new game will have similar game breaking bugs, considering paradox is behind it, and they know how to handle QA better than most did 15 years ago. Secondly, I would genuinely prefer buggy combat to the fucking horse shit slog that was the latter half of vtmb. It would at least be more brief. You are mistaken in that you think you cannarrow both of these games to "work" and "doesn't work." My description of them within this post is more literal, and objective. Considering the length of the original vtmb, and how much filler dogshit content it had, it is physically impossible for the sequel to be worse. In what way exactly? Letting me have a modern smartphone is pretty useful, actually. Newer guns, and the fact that humanity is a threat instead of a laughable charade in v5 is a nice change of pace. It means the Masquerade is actually very important. v5 also places a good emphasis on the importance of things like your bonds, which can make for some interesting gameplay choices in the video game. Some of the new streamlined powers help clans feel a bit more distinct from one other, instead of having half baked statistical changes.

Rudi aside, some of the new clan conflicts are intriguing. Hell, you could even keep the concept of an upstart Brujah Diablreizing an elder to usurp power and destabilize the Masq as an interesting plot point without the genderfluid muslim

No user, I don't believe that the games will be based 100% in V5 content. So far they have announced 2 factions that are, for all intents and purposes, very right-leaning in their beliefs and way of doing business. And you can join these faction and help them to potentially conquering the city.

So no. The setting and gmaining mechanics ARE based in V5, without a doubt. But anything else is pure speculation and far-fetching at this point.

Not really. You know, to a degree, how it's going to look like and what they're going for a very similar experience to 1st game, but from pre-alpha, there's a long way to go.

As much as I liked it to be mages, Mage is basically "philosophic knife fighting, the game".

Every melee weapon will have a health bar, after x hits, the weapon breaks, also, you can't reload guns.
