Midrange meme?

Works on my machine.
But I'm also still running an i5 750, so any bottleneck starts there.

Alright I'll admit it, I fell for the midrange meme.

This is not a meme, fucking kys

It's a good 1080p card.
It is not ray tracing card.

The trick is to upgrade every three generations, not every other. 980ti owners are laughing all the way to the bank.

this was, without a doubt, the best euro per performance I have spent in my 35 years of being alive.

Everything open on your computer is fucking cringe

I have a 980ti and I wish I held on for 1080ti. I wanna move on to utrawide 1440p and I cant.

>1080p
2012 called, they want their resolution back

every game i want to play keeps getting delayed or pushed back
fucking faggots, like in the deadstick discord all these beta damage controlling fanboys do is downplay how much the game has been delayed and they reddit post stupidly hard about tacos, to the point that its fucking irritating

The human eye can't see above 640x480.

I was upgrading from a 770, so damn right it was a good change.
Anything else would have forced me to change my old psu too, so 1060 was it.

I didn't fall for it. :-)

I got the acx 2.0 when it came out and it's working just fine even for vr. I'm about to boot up yiffalicious right now as a matter of fact.

The 1060 plays every videogame worth playing.

Will it be able to play games in 5 years? Questionable. Will those games be worth playing? Fuck no.

Can a 1060 play literally every game released before then making it more than worth it? Of course.

1060 is good as long as you get the 6gb vram and don't pay more than it's worth which I guess is impossible now

I don't fall for memes. I fall for performance.

Attached: Speccy-140719.png (783x570, 56K)

I bought a 3GB 1060, and it was Gigabyte. Yes I'm probably retarded
But I'm getting a 1660ti now

It just wasn't as great a deal for the money as the 750 Ti was back in 2014. And then the 1650 came and that was a complete shitshow.

>fall for one meme
>immediately fall for another
There is literally no reason to buy an Nvidia GPU right now, unless you have unlimited money and don't care about price/performance.

this. bought this card 2,5 years ago before the bitcoin craze and every game has run 40-60 fps at 1440p (give or take an ultra option off or postproc which you never see.

There is literally no reason to buy a Radeon, unless you're so poor a 100$ is big money to you.

You clearly didn't.

16 gigs of ram? 9700k when 9900k exists. 2080 when 2080ti exists? you wanted to have a mid high end build and act like it was high or even enthusiast.

I fell for the 970 meme.
Now the fans have gone full retard and scream whenever I open a demanding title.

imagine being this much of a brainlet. the 1660 ti costs as much as an rx 590 but performs way faster. amd has nothing worth a shit in the $200-300 price point. navi starts at $350. the 1660 ti is literally the best bang for your buck $250 card you can get. it's 1070 performance.

change the thermal paste on the GPU. this should be done every 5 years max.

>rtx 2080
>mid-high end
Come on, man. This is rancid elitism.

AMD still doesn't make equivalent high end cards. Each top tier Nvidia card has been 20-30% faster than the previous. 980>980ti>1080>1080ti>2080ti. AMD has never had a card close to these. The last time was the 290x>furyX and for the price/performance it was junk. (295x2 not included since I am avoiding dual/workstation cards)

There isn't a reason to get a NEW card at all. AMD will add raytracing chips soon enough and the new consoles releasing will change what is required of "default" shit like vram.

Get a used 1080 if anything.

It's a fan problem, not a thermal problem.
I get decent temps, the fans just rattle.

when do the new GPUs come out? And what is the best site with updated info on new tech releases such as that?

I have an amazing rx56 Vega. Did I fall into a meme?? Why is the 1060 a meme? It's a solid card.

NoVidya meme? Nah, I didn't fall for it

>Calls others poor
>Buys a 1660

Probably next year around this time, that's when they usually drop.

It's about 15% faster, and where I live, it's about 15% more expensive (I'm comparing the respective cheapest models on a aggregator website), so a similar price-performance.
Also, the 590 has the worst showing for Polaris in price/performance. The RX 580 trades blows with the 1660 yet costs a lot less.

Damn that's a while

Nigga this is a revamped 670

stop pretending like anyone was talking about the 1660, shill. and no, the 1660 is massively faster than the rx 580.

it's not a fan, you probably have a damaged card

>OpenGL
This can be circumvented by using Linux. I'm still mad that AMD has shit OpenGL support tho. I think I'll be getting an nvidia RTX 3xxx next as gpu solely for emulation.

I was talking about the 1660, I don't know which part of my post inferred anyone else was.
Still, I'm not paying 40% more money for 23% more performance.

Nah GTX 1000 gen rocked while RTX 2000 was dissapointing at best.

why so many small ssds?

It happened 2-3 years into having it, so no. It's just the fan grill being a piece of shit.

you don't really need more then 1080p.
1440p is already stretching it and 4k is straight up a meme

Thoughts?

Attached: img_9020.jpg (725x497, 43K)

I went from a fx 8350 to a ryzen 3700 even though I have one of the cheap 3gb models of the 1060 it holds up well at 1080p 144hz depending on what I throw at it. Considering I paid less than 200 plus rebate I can't really complain it's served well for about a year or more but I'm starting to lean towards a 2070 super but I'm worried since we're near the end of the year everyone will announce some cool shit soon as I buy something.

My first real GPU was a Geforce 6600, then I jumped to a 8600, a GTX 260, SLI 460s, a 780 and I bought the RTX 2080 late last year

It literally does.

>pic related
I vaguely remember it being related to either testosterone levels or semen productivity.

Same, but I'm getting a RTX 5700 XT to join the elite club.

same it's the only card around me that doesn't cost $500

Alright, bought it used for 150 eurobucks. I think I should upgrade my PSU, I only have the minimum 400W that's required to run the card and I fear it negatively impacts performance.

Meh, it just depends on how autistic you are about graphics. I'm still rocking a 680 from 2012. Don't give a shit as long as I can play the fucking game smoothly because I grew up during the SNES era. And quite frankly, anyone who grew up in those days, up to the PS2 era, hasn't the right to complain as much as they do these days.

Here's what I bought for my little bro a couple of months back. Certainly gets the job done for 1080p

Attached: bro.png (820x839, 123K)

That sounds like your CPU or RAM struggling with multitasking more than it sounds like a GPU issue. What CPU and RAM do you have?

I have the 1060 6gb, it's still great for 1080p (anything higher is literally a meme), plays everything maxed or nearly at 60 fps. It's also very quiet and relatively cool, mine even supports 0rpm mode when not in game.

Asus GeForce 210
Zotac GTX 970

May upgrade soon.

>450 watts
I thought the recommended wattage for a rx580 was 500-550?

>at least 3 4years old Sata
>old ass HDD
>no NVMe meme

????????????

It's worse - I fell for this card but the 1080.

it holds up well, I just play rimworld and emulate old shit on a 144hz monitor all day

For PCs I built myself it's:
ATI Spphire x1950 pro
Radeon HD 4670
GeForce GTX 580(fell for the Fermi meme)
XFX 7970R. Worst GPU I ever owned. Unstable piece of shit started artifacting like 2 months after I bought it whenever it went above 65C. RMA'd, got another one, same problem 3 months later. Fuck this GPU.
Sapphire Tri-X R9 290X - ran this fucker for 6 years at very high clocks and voltages. Card never complained, fan bearings gave out recently so I replaced it, but the actual GPU still works fine.
RX 5700XT Pulse. Got it for $369 on a deal. Great GPU, insanely bad drivers. Considering dual booting Ubuntu and using that as my daily driver because Linux AMD drivers are way better. Maybe AMD can fix their poo in the loo code in 6 months.
Every time the display driver crashes because it hates browser GPU acceleration I wish I spent $100 more for a 2070.

u wot m8, it needs less than 200

No, thank fuck I didn't.
Almost fell for the 3.5 meme as well but right before I was about to buy a 970 Yea Forums leaked the news and got pic related instead and am glad I did. It's still a fucking beast lads.
I'll be getting a 5700 somewhere down the line when next gen comes around.

Attached: sapphire 290.jpg (1000x999, 105K)

If your monitor is 30 inches wide maybe, but anything above 22 inches is too big for pc gaming anyways, since you'd have half of the stuff merely in your peripheral vision

>9700K
You fell for the meme.

The always go for the safe recommendation in case people bought shitty psu with high wattage.
That psu is fine even for 250+ watt gpu, but its really stretching it.

Stay away from that card unless you're on Linux or have an insanely high tolerance for broken drivers. Either wait for AMD to fix it or pay more for a 2070 super.

I have a 580 and am playing Gears 5 at 1440p with 60fps on a mix of high, ultra and some medium settings. These cards still hold a place when the game is optimized enough. Fuck the overpriced cards when I know the 580 is capable of 1440p/60 fps if the dev is competent.

Attached: gears5bench.jpg (1920x1080, 345K)

Where I live the cheapest possible 5700(non XT) is 430~€ and a 1660ti with a good cooler is 320~€.
570/80/90 just isn't a worthwhile upgrade considering that a 1660ti is only 100€ more.

is the gtx 970 over again oi vey

>(85.6 Full Res)

I'll take it. I mean, the card was $160 back in 2017 so I'm happy with that kind of performance. I haven't overclocked it either and it's one of the lower end 580s at that.

>not turning off motion blur, bloom and DoF
>FoV is too low
>automatic resolution scaling
Holy retard.

To be fair, it says that on Sapphire's website. I own a 580 Nitro+ myself and was kinda amazed by the requirement. But given that the nitro+ can draw up to 250 watts I'm not sure. Why do AMD cards draw this much power compared to the Nvidia gtx series anyway?

>if the dev is competent
Nigga you're using dynamic resolution scaling. That's not dev competency, that's just you not actually running the game at 1440p.
The 580 is not a 1440p card, it's a 1080p card and it's hitting its limits nowadays.

Who gives a shit. It achieves 1440p large majority of the time and Gears 5 keeps resetting my settings and I usually have motion blur off. No one gives a fuck what your preferences are.

Alright faggots, someone give me a good build to play anything released the next couple of years.

>Buy a mid-high end card
>Feel the effects of every single retard in the industry and/or indie devs failing to optimize their games

pure suffering to be able to get 60fps 1440p high settings on plenty of new titles then get thrown a curveball of not being able to run something at 1080p on medium.

Attached: e82b8b8648c13c3e884f5735cbd40f00.jpg (483x442, 19K)

r5 3600x + gtx 2080

Hardware based architecture that relies more on raw power for performance so they draw more electricity. NVIDIA's cards are software based and rely more on drivers to run their games well, which is why they release "game ready drivers" for nearly every new game.

Here it is locked to full rez then. An overclock or a setting or two down should do the trick to bump it some frames. It's competent enough.

Attached: GEARS5BENCH2.jpg (1920x1080, 320K)

AMD cards usually have more transistors straight up. They're on larger dies with a smaller manufacturing process but AMD invest their entire power budget into cramming more shit into the die.
This is why their cards absolutely crush OpenCL and similar pure compute tasks where you essentially need a co-processor and not a GPU.
Their GPUs are also less specialised and their drivers are far worse at making games utilise the full hardware available. With APIs that let the devs go in close to the metal like Vulkan that doesn't really matter as much since AMD's driver is doing far less. That's why AMD cards also have much better relative performance in Vulkan games while Nvidia GPUs only get a small boost compared to DX or OGL. Their drivers are already extracting as much performance as possible.
The result of this brute-force approach to GPUs is that they're naturally going to be more power hungry and generate more heat.

this is one of the most brainlet posts i've ever seen. you couldn't be more wrong. nvidia does everything amd does but does it better with better efficiency.
>hardware based architecture
fucking lmao.

amd are several generations behind nvidia regarding efficiency. navi was a big leap because they're not pushing compute so hard now but they're still 2-3 generations behind nvidia. their latest and greatest 7nm cards are only able to match nvidia's 16nm cards for efficiency and perf/watt and that says a lot about where amd are right now. imagine the kind of efficiency nvidia will have when they finally move to 7nm.

Now I want a gpu that has the best of both makers.

>tfw 4770k 1070
feels good mane

>voodoo
Based. Those cards literally had the blown mind meme as marketing ads.

Get a high-end Nvidia card then. Those have the same power-requirements and number of transistors as AMD cards but have a much more specialised and efficient design that leads to better performance in games and CUDA accelerated workloads. The only thing you'd really be missing is the Radeon VII's HBM2 memory and its sexy as fuck 4096-bit memory bus(The 2080ti uses a 352-bit bus for its 11 gigs)

>got an R5 2600 a year ago
>People are now telling me it's bad for gaming

Kill me

does it get faster with higher speed

It's "bad for gaming" in the same sense that intel's 5th gen CPUs are "bad for gaming". It's not as good as Ryzen 3rd gen or intel's 9th gen but unless you absolutely need to be pushing 200 fps in games at 480i lowest settings it should be fine.

Thanks for the website user, are those tables usually updated with new releases/prices?

Impeccable choice, good.

I have an RX 590, handles 1080p perfectly and everything runs at 60 but I wanna get a bigger, better monitor.
Want an ultrawide for my video editing job, how bad would it run games at 3440x1440?
I'm planning to upgrade the GPU at some point anyways but I just got the computer a week ago so I can't do it right away.

Attached: 03_amd_radeon_rx_590.jpg (1920x1080, 1.07M)

>Who gives a shit. It achieves 1440p large majority of the time
literally no

do you know what dynamic resolution is?
it's upscaling, you stupid retard

that means it's literally not 1440p

Yes they are updated. Please stop being this new.

Well you're gonna be pushing 2.3 times as many pixels so you're going to need A LOT more power to get the same framerates.

>Get a high-end Nvidia card then.
While I do have the money for it I don't think it would be a good purchase since I'm on 1080p and already barely use my RX580.
The prices aren't really accurate but it will update if a new gpu series come out. It's a baseline mostly.

I have a Vega56 and an ultrawide, because I don't just play games and I prefer it for general use.

You won't be running anything brand new at full resolution, but old(er) games look great if they support it. Generally if its something new I switch down to 1440p or even 1080p and have the Radeon software maintain the aspect ratio, so it just functions like a normal monitor. Its pretty good.

get a cheap used laptop or chromebook to run that shit

Well, yeah. Nvidia have a monopoly on enthusiast-grade hardware so they charge monopoly prices. You simply can't get a 2070super, 2080 or 2080ti equivalent from AMD.

oh no, what am i going to do when it's not native 1440p resolution 14% of the time completely undiscernable from native for me with a 2017 $160 card. I already benched it at native, it gets 54 fps average at 1440p. someone with a better 580 or great overclock would be able to reach that 60fps 1440p native easily.

>amd are several generations behind nvidia regarding efficiency.
> 2-3 generations behind nvidia
Navi is more efficient than Pascal
Vega is more efficient than Maxwell.
Fiji is more efficient than Kepler

tl;dr AMD's power efficiency is slightly less than one generation behind Nvidia.

Except not even. Whenever Linus makes recommendation videos he usually recommends midrange or low-high end hardware, not enthusiast grade stuff.
And his current channel home video is the Zen 2 review where he spends 12 minutes licking AMD's boots.

>54 Fps average
>good
You really don't want to average 60, much less under 60. You want your 3% minimum to be around 60.
Games look so much smoother when they're running a stable locked framerate with tight and consistent frame times than when they're constantly fluctuating. Even if you've got Freesync so you don't particularly care getting exactly 60 it's still better to have consistent frametimes.
It's why 60 fps videos look insanely smooth compared to ~60 fps gameplay with a fluctuating framerate.

would buy one if they came with 16GB VRAM

Do you have some kind of professional need for that much VRAM? Even the 2080ti "only" comes with 11 gigs.

get out of my way, peasant

Attached: specs.png (828x578, 39K)

You have two options uninstall Intel security patches or buy a better CPU

probably VMs, more efficient to use separate disks

That card will do 1080p high just fine unless it's unoptimised ubishit games

Must be a ram issue, 16GB isn't enough if you multitask whilst gaming anymore (because dev's are lazy fucks who can't optimize for shit)

Does trying to easy-mode PC building with a refurbished office computer count? Because that's what I did and I ended up stuck on a FM2+ socket for a while.
That said: AMD stuff was very inexpensive so I could get a good FM2+ CPU pretty quickly, and it turns out Linux DOES work well with AMD stuff, so installing new hardware was largely a plug-and-play affair.

I got a workstation GPU for work I had to do, but it's been doing pretty well with the games I've been throwing at it. I think the only performance issues I've run in to is due to Linux related issues. That said, all of my games are toaster grade, since I was coming from a laptop.

My RAM is G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3600MHz. The timings are 16-16-16-36.
As for the TN, I can live with adjusting my color settings on the monitor itself. Also I get high refresh rates with 1ms of delay.

Holy shit I remember paying 230€ for my 560 Ti, a mid-high range card. We definitely are screwed

Would it sate your autism if I told you I bought it ironically?

You didn't.

>I did it ironically therefore it's OK
No, that's even worse.

I'm not saying I did, I'm altering the truth for your benefit

I was hoping to get some real roasting on my build so I could get motivation to upgrade further, but you guys just seem poor and envious.

I have the mini version and overclocked my CPU and it and get about 90-110 fps on games I usually play. Sometimes get full 144fps with certain settings.

Probably won't upgrade until I start to dip below 40fps on high

I bought a dodgy gt 1030 which is actually a gt 730

Attached: 1470313616093.jpg (601x601, 65K)

thank god i'm not gay

1080p is all you need, look at these 4k losers paying overprice for placebo

I can no longer imagine playing games on a tiny 22-24'' low res screen, it's amazing how much better a big high res monitor is.

Looking at my newegg history from olden times, I went from:

6800gt
9800gt sli
5870
970
1060
2060

I've gotten a tad more frugal over time. That 9800sli setup set me back about 3500 bucks back in the day.

>bought a GT 1030
.... why? Why would you even want to buy that piece of shit, it gets outperformed by iGPUs

Tn panels aren't even 1ms of delay retard but I guess you wouldn't know anything considering you bought rgb ram and paid that much for a tn monitor thats 144hz that overclocks to 165hz

1140p is quite awesome.

The cost of a 4k monitor with a high enough refresh rate is frigging crazy though.

I completely missed the Tesla and Fermi years, been in Uni during those and didn't have any money.
I guess I'm kinda compensating now.

Only AMD igpus intels are still shit for some reason

If you're so broke that you even consider buying a 1030 you really should be going for an AMD CPU as well.
Intel makes no sense on such an extremely low budget.

>Bought a 970 years ago and still play all my games fine.

Its nice not being autistic about graphics

Isn't the GT 1030 just a tiny bit below a 750Ti, and still a bit ahead of a Vega 11?

I wish my 970 survived. My UPS blew up (oddly enough) and took my entire computer down with it.

I was very displeased.

nnnope.

Huh, my bad then. I didn't think Vega 11 was that far ahead compared to Vega 8

The 980 ti was a monster. Bought it second hand and it was a reference EVGA card. OCed to 1550 no problem, nearing 22k firestrike graphics score.

Unless you get 0 ms response time, even 1ms has noticable motion blur.

I don't understand the point of sacrificing everything for it.

What do you honestly do that you needed to buy a 1080, 1080ti and 2080ti? You literally couldn't have waited a year after the 1080 for the 2080ti? You know this shit gets an upgrade every year.

Based I jump ship from Intel the second they started having trouble with security threats on a regular basis

Everythings a shitshow right now. With intels shit security and amds horrible drivers/support for their products its best to just wait a couple more years.

CPUs don't use drivers. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with 3rd gen Ryzen support, AMD was even nice enough to make X370 boards forwards compatible with Ryzen 3000. Intel drops support for last-gen mobos all the time.
AMD's horrible drivers are on the GPU side.

What a fucking joke, glad I recently jumped from Intel and got a 3600.

2700x and 1080ti. Not satisfied at all with the performance I'm seeing

I really wish Nvidia would release a new card that isn’t a meme. I want better performance than the 1080ti as well.

1080 was 06/2016, 1080Ti 10/2017 and 2080Ti 03/2019

My computer has been running fine with a 1060 6gb and some i5 non k cpu. Maybe it could be better but it works for me. Upgraded to SSD and got 8 more gb of ram as well in the last year so things feel quite comfy for me. At this point I'm excited to find out how long the 6tb hard drive i bought in the last year will last.

It's actually more akin to a 680.

Honestly for 1080p60 the 1060 still does the job perfectly

Why is it considered a "bad idea" to have all your games in a big hard drive instead of an SSD? I don't mind the extra 7 seconds of loading time at all.
If it has anything to do with "muh response time" in online games then fuck yourself, multiplayer shit is garbage.

Attached: 1566924741609.png (450x450, 393K)

Ever play GTA 5? I know it's poorly optimized, but SSD will take your loading times from 2 minutes to 15 seconds.

Because an SSD will increase your overall performance.

1050Ti in my laptop,1060 in my desktop and I am loving it.

Also I'm not a rabid Nvidia fanboy, but for the family computers and my first personal computer I didn't have a clue about hardware and just happened to end up with Geforce, and for the two computers I've built myself it was simply not a good time to buy AMD. I've happily put AMD cards into budget builds for family members though, HD 5000 and HD 6000 series when AMD were on a good roll.

>Ever play GTA 5?
I did, on console, so there's no need for me to replay it on PC now. What other games have this kind of improvement in SSDs?

>Because an SSD will increase your overall performance
In what, other than loading times? My rig already runs everything on 1080p at 60 and my monitor is 60Hz anyways, I don't see how performance could "improve".

Is our last hope for stable price gpus Intel's gpus next year?

My index finger is much longer than my ring finger. The index finger is almost as long as the middle finger in fact. What gives?

Buy 1660 not 1060 you fucking retard.

Stable at a high level if you go by their CPU prices.

I bought a 1080ti about a week before bitcoin blew up. Fucking thing almost doubled in price it felt like.

is a 1070 still """future proof"""" enough for a couple years assuming i stick to 1440p 100hz? I don't mind turning down the settings a bit.
I thought about getting a 1660ti but my friend is selling his 1070 for 180€ which seems like a decent deal

It really isn't.

boy ur gay as fuck

I can see the 1070 lasting another few years on 1080p 60hz, but not 1440p 100hz. 1440p at high refresh rates is the kinda stuff I'd buy a 2060 Super for these days.

The 2500k was obsolete circa 2016.

Amd rx 570 says hi

I got a 1080ti, and couldn't be happier. I can play games like RE2 Remake at 1440p 120fps at highest settings and even 4K 60fps for a lot of new games. I don't see any need to upgrade this for the foreseeable future despite it beginning to be a few years old, especially not as long as consoles dictate the graphics levels.

You only need a 9900k if you're RuneScape goldfarming
The average user will be fine with an i5 since they don't need to run 200 OSRS clients on a single PC

Attached: 2015-11-11_20-23-59.png (568x382, 15K)

I made the same upgrade and I know what you mean, it's mid-range hardware. What do you plan to upgrade

I have one. Still run fine enough but I'd love to get a new GPU.

But will Intel actually be able to compete with Nvida and not be incompetent like AMD and actually release high end gpus?

Who knows?
I wouldn't expect with the first generation of products, but there's a decent chance they'll get there within a few iterations.

I had a 1060 with i9 9900k and I had to basically play modern games on low to get acceptable FPS

Rocking that exact model as I type. It's got a real annoying coil whine when it's idle but seems to go away when I play games or watch youtube.

Even though I went through a complete computer upgrade almost a year ago I'm still upgrading tons of stuff. I got a 2060 super recently to replace my old 1060 and paired it with my 2600 and the only game I own that is actually taxing is Deus ex:MD. I thought I would get 60 at all ultras settings but I was struggling to get 45-50fps. I don't know if the game is badly optimized or if I'm just stupid.

>my gpu is to blame for lag when using cpu intensive things

What resolution?
It ran fine on my 1080 at 1080p maxed, back in 2016.

zoomer: the post

>tfw still rocking rad 7850

I wanted to upgrade not so long ago, but I would probably need a new psu. I got an old ass 500w silver one.
Probably a new case too, because new cards are too fucking long.

probably some custom software to change it if you look

Come to think of it I upgrade GPUs every 16 to 18 months.
It's an obsession.

I'm on HD7950 and probably building new PC this month.
It had a great run, there was not single game I was interested in I was forced to play below 1080p to get satisfying framerate. In fact my CPU is more of a bottleneck.

Just 1080p. I've never tried anything above that since I only have 60hz monitors but when I ran the game I went through the starting area and I was struggling to stay at 50fps while my PC was chugging. It's just confusing.

I bought 5700xt pulse. Perhaps i should have wait for nitro+, but whatever. Anybody here able to tell me if i am going to be satisfied?

badly optimized. look up setup guides. there are some settings that tank fps for not much visual advantage.

>Anybody here able to tell me if i am going to be satisfied?
You tell me. I'm considering XT Pulse. Honestly, I just want 5700 XT with better cooling.
Anyone has any idea how's 5700 XT TUF?

Oh do you have MSAA on?
It absolutely murders framerate for minimal gain (since the game is so post-process heavy).
You should be fine with just TAA and some sharpening (no sharpening looks really blurry in this game).

Honestly nothing outside witcher 3 gave me much problems on 7850. Played like shit but still was able to finish it.
Not sure about cpu though. Got OCed i5 3570. I had to drop it down to 3.2GHz recently though. Maybe its death bed.

I don't know man, it's yet to be shipped for me. I mean, reviews are good...

I have i5 3470. I cheaped out and got regular non-K version. That was my mistake.
Will get 3600 now, hopefully I won't suffer because of non X variant.

No upgrades for a while yet since getting those. I honestly dont play many graphically demanding games so I think I'm overthinking it

nice mid range system wanna be expert. always the same with dumb retards like you screaming "I HAVE A HIGH END SYSTEM GET FUCEKD POOR FAGS" and then he goes off to buy mid range shit pretending its more

yea I got the 3570 k version. Clocked up to 3.8GHz with a bit of work. Everything beyond was giving me wierd results.
I think about upgrading every month, but decide against it. I am fucking cheap ass since everything I play regulary works fine.

Some radeon for about 10 years and I more recently got a 1080ti

Attached: 1568217906987.png (1245x934, 243K)

MSAA just doesn't work with deferred shaders which almost all modern AAA games use. You'll notice that almost all of them don't even offer MSAA anymore, just TAA, SMAA, and SSAA. No idea why DXMD even bothered including it.

I'm using a 960 whose fans have stopped working.
Gonna probably do a full overhaul soon.

Sure you're okay with only 1TB of total storage? You might want to get like a 3-5TB mechanical drive for cheap to just dump all your media on along with games you rarely play but want to keep.

I stole the build from another website. I've a spare 4TB HDD along with peripherals.

I'm hoping you're playing at 2k+ resolution with all that. Overkill by a mile for 1080Peasant but other than that it's good.

Attached: 1549916277106.jpg (500x454, 140K)

might as well go 9900k if you're going to spend 2k

Odd, mine gives some whine when I get over 200 fps, other than that it's really quiet.

Also, do yourself a favor and a favor to anyone else that has been kiked by JEWEGG and never buy anything from them. If your shit comes broken THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT. You have to take it up with the shipper (which is impossible) or the manufacturer (lol good luck). I had a mobo come totally fucked and they wouldn't accept it because *drum roll* "It had physical damage".
FUCK JEWEGG!! I'm still seething.

Attached: 1545933965367.gif (255x164, 1.63M)

Ah. Also since you don't seem to be working with a tight budget I'd heavily advise you upgrade that RAM.
You really want DDR4-3600 for Ryzen 3rd gen, it's the highest guaranteed frequency you can get without decoupling the infinity fabric.
Check this list
us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X570-A-PRO#support-mem-19
And try to find RAM that's DDR4-3600(and that speed is supported on the list) and get that. The product numbers here are VERY specific, if you don't want to worry about memory compatibility make sure you get sticks with the exact same product number from that list.

Thanks, Yea Forums. Wasn't aware Newegg went full Jew, I remember buying most of my pieces for my last build from there.

I jumped from 1050 Ti to 1660 Ti.
Basically it's just a 1070 without eating all that power, and I don't plan going beyond 1080p

Look up nu-Newegg reviews, bro. They are a chinese company now and it shows. Legit horrible. Go through microcenter or amazon for the simple fact that if anything is fucked you can return it for free no questions asked.

considering most games i only play are only cpu intensive as well as playing on a low res and low settings. im holding up just fine

tell me more

I have a AOC AG322QC4, if you look or wait for a sale you get get a good deal. Although, I've never owned a monitor worth more than £100 so my standards might be low.
No complaints other than that it includes displayport 1.2 which doesnt support hdr400 which is included with the monitor. At the moment, I have to choose between freesync on my gtx card (which only works through display port) or hdr400 which is only supported on the hdmi 2.0 port. This isn't a problem if you have a radeon card which can use freesync and hdr400 on hdmi or if you have 16 or 20 series nvidia cards which are getting gsync over hdmi in a driver update soon.

Talking out of my ass here but it doesn't really effect your test level. Think of a longer ring meaning a higher test "cap". The 2080ti, when I bought my gpu, was like 1600 burgerbux, nigger. I play at 1440p/144hz so 2080 is perfect and will be for a while.
>explicitly claim to have upgraded from 970
>"you sound like you upgraded from 10xx series"
Can't argue with stupid.
>970 was still 1080p capable
Nigger, you're retarded. It's not.

AMD has left the high end market, Nvidia is free to jew away.

Anyone /R9380X/ here

>The 2080ti, when I bought my gpu, was like 1600 burgerbux, nigger.
So why are you calling others poor you literal shit skin bongaloo shitter. Were the couple hundred $ to much for you to handle?
Can't even afford flag ship but spouts something about being poor. Triple neck yourself of this planet.
>970 wasn't a capable 1080p card
here is your (you)

Got an RTX 2070 the day it became available for purchase. Not because I fell for the Meme (well, RTX was a plus but I didn't expect much from it if I'm honest) but because the website had the price at just over 200€ which to this day I believe was an error. But the last time I got a graphics card of this quality for that price was probably around 2006 or so. So I'm happy.

>Nigger, you're retarded. It's not.
stupid boring faggot

>$1600 vs $800
>about 15-20% better performance
That doesn't make any sense though, poorfag.

Ok, the 970 is capable of 1080p with shit performance and low ass settings. I had one FFS. It was a turd and couldn't hang anymore. Fuck, it barely held up when i bought it.
>all these seething poors looking to tear the man down because they can't hold a job.

Attached: 1543595871152.jpg (428x280, 138K)

of course it doesn't, because you wallet couldn't handle it. Shit faced fucking poorfag. Fuck off my board.

Falling behind, yes. Obsolete, no.

Source: I'm using one.

Not sure how it's a meme, unless you're talking about the 3GB version? For a +3 year old card my 1060 has held up surprisingly well, even when paired with a 7 year old CPU. My only real regret is that I didn't buy a 1080ti at launch when I had the chance, even if it would have been bottlenecked. Still the deal of the decade as far as GPUs go.

>stirs some shit about it having issues while 4yo+ old 970 memes run all games in 1080p
make it atleast sound believeable, poorfag

ive got a 1070 and the only thing ive got that i cant run perfectly constantly at 1080 is maxed out witcher 3 because muh trees

>chinese company since 2016
Fucking hell, I don't know how long I've been using them. Guess my next build later this month is coming from Microcenter.

How fucking retarded can one person possibly be? First of all, I have a 1440p display. Second of all a 970 doesn't run modern games at 1080p at anything other than like LOW settings. So, get fucked.

Quite the seething poorfag hypocrite, are we?

>Second of all a 970 doesn't run modern games at 1080p at anything other than like LOW settings. So, get fucked
prove it nigger
why would I be seething? But you got exposed in this thread having literally no money while spouting some gibberish about RTX 2080 being a good purchase. Kill yourself today.

Dont worry bro it may be a preowned mining card of 4 years but im sure overclocking it wont do anythi-

>2080
>not a good purchase
Ok, kiddo. The witcher 3 came out 4 years ago and doesn't run well on a 970. Are you retarded?

I have the same combo 2600x with gtx 1060 it is perfect for me
probably I'll upgrade in 2025

I've owned a 970 and I'm going to have to agree with this guy. The 970 is amazing at what it does and can play old games just fine, but when it comes to modern games you couldn't keep a steady fps above 60 fps at 1080p. The modern games I tried were Black ops 4, Pubg, Apex Legends, Mordhau, battlefield V and battlefield 1, ARK, and even the witcher 3 would struggle. All of these games you could not play without turning games insanely down to medium/low just to get a decent fps. It doesn't mean the 970 is bad it's just time to upgrade and move on

back leddit degenerate

Not an argument.

ye get a better psu, i used to get blue screens gpu crashes etc from a shittty psu.

there is one even forwarding you where to go back my little poorfag

>being this mad because he was called poor (rightfully so).

Attached: 1544406465798.gif (328x272, 261K)

560ti
1080

>you mad you seethe
right after I left you with that gaping asshole and your RTX 2080 which you still can't justify with either having money or any brain cells
KILL YOURSELF

>I said thing so it's true
How is an rtx 2080 a bad buy? Literally every game I play is at max settings, 1440p 300fps. Stay salty, pleb.

Attached: 1505250247877.gif (500x490, 890K)

>integrated graphics on laptop
moved to desktop
>gtx 770
>rx 580 4g cause im an impatient tard
>soon to be rx 5700xt when I make the move to 1440p or 1080/144

poorfags btfo

rtx 2070 super or 2080?

Cope, I can play games from 2019 with 1080p 30-40 fps on highest settings, 40-60+ fps when I turn down some of the retarded options.

I was literally replying to a shit skin poorfag 10 times in a row and he still hasn't recovered.

gtx 260
hd 5770
hd 6850
hd 6850 crossfire
hd 7950
gtx 970
gtx 980
gtx 1080 ti

apparently the 5700xt is about the same as a 1080ti so I might get one if they go to $500 CAD

>believing that having no argument and making baseless claims is "owning" someone
God, you are pathetic. Probably because you are so poor and malnourished thinking has become difficult. We will pray for you.

2080.

>2080 costs $1000
ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS

amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Windforce-Graphics-GV-N2080WF3-8GC/dp/B07J5LCQNF/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=GeForce RTX 2080&qid=1568238149&s=gateway&sr=8-3
No.

GTX 260
Finally looking at upgrading as that pc died, but ive been out of the game for ages.
If I get an RTX 2080, it should last me at least a few years right?

>no arguments
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA scroll up you bastard and read carefully
holy fuckign shit you are truly some neglected individual I am not suprised you went straight for the 2080 please end yourself already
this is my final (you)

>I'm not surprised you went for the second best gpu on the market. I-Idiot! I always have the last laugh
>*sits down to his fx6300/rx270
Nigger please.

yes

Whats wrong with the 2080? The only people that shit on the RTX line are gaymads that are too poor and 1080ti chads that don't have a reason to upgrade.

I'm building my first PC and I have two builds
Both are 16GB Ram but the cheaper is a Ryzen 5 2600x + GTX 1660 while for $800~ while the more expensive is Ryzen 7 2700X + RX 5700 XT for $1100
Will the cheaper one last or should I pay extra for the futureproofed set?

Attached: 1566837298884.png (544x565, 417K)

Flaming homo here. I look girly and exclusively fuck girly looking guys, and my ring finger is longer by like a full fingertip.

Cheaper one is absolutely fine for 1080p60/75 or 144 in competitive games, more expensive one is better suited for 144 in more demanding games or 1440p
Depends on what you want to do

Geforce 7600 GT
GTX 1050 2gb
GTX 1060 6gb
RTX 2060
Been a hell of a ride so far

Replaced with vega 56 after 3 months of literal hell. Never been happier.

If you're going the more expensive route get a Ryzen 5 3600(or 3600X). The improvement in single-threaded performance will help a lot more in games than the R7 2700Xs extra cores.

Upgrade from 1050ti and goes to my younger brother...

Attached: P_setting_000_1_90_end_500.jpg (500x500, 49K)

>cheaping out with the gigabyte model

Just buy 2070 super
it's a better 1080ti
perfect for qhd gaming

Never bought a GPU before, is MSI better quality than Gigabyte?

Looking into getting into PC because consoles are becoming trash. Can get a good deal from buddy on 1080. Will that be good for a couple years?

anthing is better than gigabyte

I hear Gigabyte fans are pretty bad all around. Never had one myself though so don't take my word for it.

3600 punches way above it's weight

Attached: RSS_Ultra_1080p.png (1370x1412, 89K)

Do you think they'll ever realize it and make it more expensive with some
>oh some factory got flooded
excuse? It's 190€ now, I wouldn't want to come back later and find it's 250.

Oh shit it is better
Only problem is that the motherboard I had picked out has a Bios incompatibility
I'm really bad at this so does anyone know a compatible one that can hit at least 3466 memory speed?

Attached: 1536871940757.jpg (402x419, 23K)

Any B450 board should be able to do DDR4-3600 with Ryzen 3rd gen chips.
Just check the manufacturer's site for a complete list of compatible memory modules and their supported speeds with Ryzen 3000 CPUs.
And make sure you're checking for the mainline CPUs, some boards have different compatibility with those than with the APUs.

Sounds really dumb. If it sells out too quickly the price will go up due to hardware shortages. No need for AMD to try and artificially inflate it.

MSI>Asus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gigabyte

>RTX 2080 are $1000
I was proving a point. Even the superior EVGA is only like $40 more expensive.

MSI it is then.

EVGA>>>>>>>>>>MSI>>>>Asus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>hammered diarrhea>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>eating a dead cows pussy=Gigabyte=everything else.

Weird, when I bought the EVGA 1060 they told me I pretty much burned money.

Almost all b450 boards can upgrade to support 3600 with a bios update, some of them are relaunching with support OOTB

I want to know what board I need to get if I want to eventually one day overclock the 3600x.

Well, they're fucking retarded then. EVGA has the best customer service and while ASUS may claim to get a little more overclocking out of their cards I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole because of hour heinous anus their customer service is.
I've owned 6 EVGA cards and they all still work except for the single blower gtx 660 I had which started artifacting after a very long time. Hell it was just last year I think that my brother reported it had failed.

x570

>midrange
>meme
what?

b450 supports CPU overclocking but you'll find better thermals on X450 and X570

>check prices
>cost as much as the cpu if not way more
What, I can buy b450 and a world class air cooling system and still save like a hundred bucks.

Until your VRMS melt off the board. If you're doing any substantial overclocking you're better off shelling out the extra sheckles for decent heat sinks on the board unless you want to build your own.

You right, there's a reason nobody rec's x450 or x570 and most people are still building b450, motherboard thermals are a meme unless you're running an overclocked 3900x or something

People have even run the 3900x on the old b350 motherboards and it runs fine with some gaming performance drops

They're running a 3600.

They can just put in a good case fan and probably negate most of the difference tbqh

Ryzen 3000 doesn't overclock well so there's no point in looking into that. Get an MSI b450 Tomahawk MAX which supports third gen out of the box. It has decent VRMs and is way cheaper than the overpriced x570 boards which don't offer anything of use.

You're probably right, on second thought.

3600 or 9700K are the only two CPUs worth buying right now if you play vidya. 9900K is garbage for the money and 10 core Intel CPUs with 14nm++++++++++++++++++++ are coming out soon.

I thought they were 10nm?

Intel is still using 14nm on the desktop lmao. I shouldn't really be laughing I still use Haswell.

>MFW i didn't believe the hype about Ryzen and upgraded from an FX6300 to an 9600k
It doesn't feel so bad because it's a pretty rad chip but I wish I had believed the hype. I couldn't wait any longer though and bought that fucker the day it came out.

Attached: 1522441272264.gif (416x307, 2.58M)

Any risk based on what we know so far that 3600 will be destroyed once PS4 and XB2 release?

9600K is faster in raw gaming but slower in productivity applications.
What? The 3600 is still the safest buy you can do right now, and you can upgrade to a faster CPU because AMD socket will be supported for longer. And it's cheaper. The average PC gamer should get a 3600 and it can even do well for high refresh users too but anyone looking to squeeze every last frame out of his GPU should just get the 9700K for the premium price.

It's a solid chip and consoles don't play into the equation. They will be just more bullshit sub 60fps cinematic experiences just like this gen but with "better" graphics (not really).

i have a 1060 6gb, it works nice

Attached: 9e79e454e8d69d801b57a248696199bc67b73956fe12610685be3cb37fce34cb.jpg (307x462, 28K)

The PS5 and XB2 will be outdated on arrival, Sony are going around showing people SSD load times like it’s some sort of grand innovation. youtu.be/8lRBNAye2eo

As long as your CPU is > R5 2600x and GPU is >RX 5700 you’ll be fine. It’s very likely Sony and MS will be using an underpowered Navi card in their systems for nicer thermals/power draw and sound.

I bought myself a 2060 and I use a CRT Monitor

Attached: EDG9gmnUYAAA87R.jpeg.jpg (1536x2048, 283K)

Yes, pretty good actually
