the spoon wont fall asleep while waiting for matches but will probably leave to play bad company 2 edition is now!

I'll use my new stuff in one of these matches, just gotta get the brain cooking. By the way, I saw that last thread, it's pretty rude to assume that I don't need my own docs to keep track of things.

Merk, please play more often in the lobbies. You're literally the only Elastic boy between this and my locals.

I was gone for a bit because I was playing judgement but I'm basically done with that game so you'll be seeing me more often. Who is this and who's your local elastic boy?

Looks like you'll have to restart that lobby Spoon, hahaha.

Oreobros. What's the backstory on Amara and why are JP players drooling over her(?)? I've even seen a lot of players putting "Amara etc etc etc" in their title box

I find this surprising, since I see many Merks in public lobbies and on ranked. Do the Yea Forums lobbies not have many Merks?

There is no elastic boy.

GGs. Good luck on whatever that something else is (presumably bad company?)!

I feel like I'm making it harder than it really is trying to find an opening in Carmine's blockstring.

Attached: Aoko 2.png (914x939, 908K)

And I'm not even a good Carmine to begin with

I wanted to parry there dammit

Attached: 1568094730244.jpg (273x352, 21K)

if he decides to just keep spending blood the opening doesn't exist. You have to catch him on rebeats or interrupt the fireball, his specials are all plus.

Friendly reminder Park is the least laggy stage on netplay

I personally find guard thrust really good in the match up.

The only time stages affect netplay is if it causes someone to run below 60fps.

Block til you win vorpal, or if he tries to win vorpal, go on the offensive

I guess that makes sense, you are killing yourself to open up the opponent.

If only bird were here to see the live phonon demonstration

it annoys me so much that even high level carmine players complain that they lose health on specials. You effectively get to keep your turn after mixups that would end almost any other characters turn at the cost of 1-2% health. It's so absurd that people decry this character as bad for that reason.

Attached: DzNKLZgW0AA8YFs.jpg (1200x849, 97K)

I don't meet enough Carmine players to have experienced this

I'm mostly speaking about Fendo

He can just play easy mode with wagner

He also has weaker damage this version on top of losing health for doing it in combos. The complaint isn't that he's losing too much off one special its that it adds really fast. He's not functional without spending some life in a game where the average conversion in neutral leads to +3K damage. I don't think he's "bad" at all but he gets hella out-valued by alot of characters which is why he's considered lower tier.

then he gets to bitch about how 22C is a bad pressure extender and wagner is totally reallllllly bad guysssss

This is why I don't do twitter/discord

Well yeah, carmine has a risk/reward factor to his playstyle, I guess he only wanted reward with minimal risk which is why he switched.
his attempt to explain how it being plus 9 was somehow worse than it just being plus 1-2 was hilarious.

Did 6B do chip in UNIEL?

I wish he stayed with Carmine it's really boring watching him play Wagner so many people play that character already.

I'm pretty sure it did, I didn't start playing until JP console launch of UNIST though so don't quote me

>Mikas everywhere
I came to the wrong neighborhood.

Like I said, he maintains advantage on most of his strings and him losing some life and not doing the 3.2 off of 2A confirms isn't the end of the world for him. Plus he has one of the highest health values to offset that.

>So many

The issue with 2A is that its 7f and a mid, the slowest 2A in the game besides Wald's (a better comparison is that Seth's /2B/ is faster than Carmine's 2A), its garbage for defense and not a mixup tool either. His damage isn't much better off his other normals either. The advantage is definitely good and shouldn't be understated, but at the same time alot of characters can maintain similar levels of oppressive offense while having better normals, damage, and general risk/reward.

Watch Zawa/Hishigata in JP Neon/Tora in NA.

Thanks user :)

he at least hangs around the nanase channel in the discord and replies "hmm" to everything remotely interesting that gets posted then complains it's not worthwhile
honestly his attitude pisses me off. he said watching hishigata "doesn't help" because you "don't know why he does what he does" as if you can't work it out from the context
he outright told people not to learn newer 2A/5A routes once and to stick with the basic bitch ones

Attached: 1552277612753.webm (186x326, 275K)

>2A is garbage for defense
> defense
also
> alot of characters can maintain similar levels of oppressive offense
please list 5 other character that can end a 6 button blockstring in plus frames for no meter. This is the aspect that people most under sell, especially when you consider he can do things like 3[C] or partial charge 3C2B and then end in plus on block 22B to keep pressure on or 623 if it hit for a combo.

>3C2B
I don't think Carmine can reverse beat out of 3C if that's what you're saying

The discord as a whole became a cesspit so that's not shocking

sorry, I meant 22A/623 as those both hit low if memory serves.

I don't know people even ask others for advice when 99% of the time they either troll or give you the generic answer.

Learn Combos
Learn Blockstrings/Frametraps
Learn Character specific punishes and/or combo routes
Learn frame data
Learn other characters and what they can do
Steal tech from other character specialist

The rest is reaction/luck base and cannot be taught. What more does anyone need to learn in order to be viable?

There we go, and yeah, they do.
The only point is that Carmine's 623A on its own isn't plus but the puddle's 623 is what makes him incredibly plus.
Not like any Carmine would ever 623A up close anyway without a puddle nearby

People are either too lazy or genuinely don't know where to look for documents
But discord apparently has those just lying around so I guess they're really fucking lazy

So asking for advice on sticking to a main wouldn't do me any good.
I honestly wish FG discords would at least make their shit public. That's the only thing I hate desu, other than that I couldn't care less if they want to have a clubhouse.

how the hell can hilda vatista or nanase make themselves plus on a block string? Unless you were talking about reverse beats which, not to sound like I'm moving goal posts, every character can do.

I think you're conflating blockstrings and pressure.

Is there a single normal in the game that becomes + on rebeat? The best I know of are all 0

The Pale Bringer curse strikes again

Can't you delay the tornado/dive enough to be plus?

>Nanase
mid string ff > immediate j236A at proper range
>Hilda
623B
>Vatista
gem explosion

I believe wagner and eltnum have plus on rebeat normals but I forget the exact strings.
I think it's at best neutral, but I might be thinking of on shield not block.

>Yuzuriha
While you're technically correct, 236B > 6A whiff can only be done at distances where you can't really use that +1 frame advantage to reset pressure. Aside from that, she has no other ways of getting + frames aside from j.214B, and you can't really fit that into a blockstring for obvious reasons

off the top of my head both Hyde and Mika can do 5[C] > w2A for plus frames

Nope, even if you hit their toes it's minus, and delayed dives can be beaten by many things.
>mid string ff
>immediate j236A at proper range
You won't ever be at that range after a 6-normal blockstring.
Hilda's 623B also has a ten year startup which will break any string you had going and can be challenged.
Vatista sure but that requires the gem to already be set up. Otherwise you've got another interruptible gap setting it.

hilda can't do a real blockstring into 623B only frametrap. and gem explosion requires you to already have the gem out, all cancels into gem release are negative on block.

oh yeah I forgot about that, mika's 5[C]>2A is +6 or more, it's really good.

He said plus frames after 6 normal strings, you can definitely push yourself out far enough to get the 236A > w6A. Normally I'd agree its kinda whatever but Yuzu is so strong at that range that honestly I think it counts. You're gonna get sniped for not blocking the same way you would vs other characters closer up.

Hyde's 5[C] > 2A is +4

Ah man Hippie, you know how to hurt the soul.

Attached: Ai yi.png (237x292, 165K)

Is the new version of the game coming out on PC?

not announced yet. I'm assuming it will eventually, That said, I don't think the early 2020 date they gave necessarily meant western release but we'll have to wait and see.

Eventually

Take notes bird
You too can become an annoying up-back fireball man

I know, you can easily push yourself out to that distance, but once you're that far away Yuzu's pressure is really not that threatening. Another thing too is that she doesn't have any good moves that move her forward in a blockstring unlike Carmine, which is a pretty big thing that I think most people forget to consider. Once you get pushed out you have to severely lower your frame advantage by dashing back in if you want to continue pressure.

Yes you absolutely can as Nanase, and yeah dude just press something at the range good Hilda players are gonna do 623B and see what happens.

By default I assume 6 months to a year after whatever they give us.

I need to stop pressing shit on wakeup and getting punked out by grabs.

Attached: 1567867052421.jpg (1920x1080, 239K)

Once I can consistently input it online I'll be golden. More watching the pressure, really.
>3c by accident
Ah well

It is very disappointing that fighting game devs seemingly dont give a shit about the PC. Makes me not even want to play them when they finally do come out

Actually looking at the frame data even Nanase's 5[C] FF j236A wouldn't be a true blockstring at point blank, it takes a whole 20 frames for the fireball startup so even with it buffered right they should have 5 or 6 frames after recovering to do something before the fireball is active, which is enough to jab out.

But now it just sounds like you're shitposting because "just try it" isn't even close to an argument.

What I'm saying is that I think Yuzu's ranged pressure is that good IMO. Yes you're not in mixup range but Yuzu's mixup is whatever anyways and you're at hella advantage still, they're still playing your game.

PC in Japan is an eroge machine, we've been over this

>ranged pressure
All you have to do is shield low and the Yuzu can't do shit.

While it's by no means disadvantageous for her, being pushed back into neutral does you no good if you want to actually open up the opponent.

GGs Enkidu.

Just because there's an answer to the string does not make it fake. If you're feeling like they're gonna challenge you can very easily bait it out.

ggs

Damn, tried to get too greedy inbetween strings and steal a couple turns.

That's literally the definition of it being fake. What are you talking about?

if there is a gap then it isn't a blockstring anymore, the goalposts are on another planet at this point

Thanks for the games pclobby. Lots of Mikas today.

Attached: 1540284205827.jpg (1110x1000, 110K)

Yuzu without vorpal still has stronger midrange than most characters with it. She's made to be able to fight very well without it. If she has the life lead they're going to have to go in eventually as well.

GGs, and thanks for the mirrors. I don't know if I just caught you on a bad day, but I feel like I'm not completely out of the fight yet.

Its not, fake means there's no counterplay to their answer. Pressure in FGs in general is built on there being answers that are still fallible. Calling something fake just because you can challenge it shows a lack of understanding of how offense works.

Mika mirrors are like Wald mirrors in that the second person who attacks wins. I ate way too many combos because 5B whiffed but allowed you to land 2/5A. It was still pretty fun though so it was alright.

bullying you in these threads is the only interaction I have with you that isn't 5f or more behind

>Eltnum

>Wagner
>Enkidu

7 out of 20 characters can't use vorpal well to get in against Yuzu. Out of those 7, I'd argue that only Enkidu and Akatsuki are true suffering

>If she has the life lead
This isn't something that's automatically given to you, especially considering Yuzu's round start options aren't the greatest.

Clearing this up more, Yuzu honestly does not need to open up the opponent more than once or twice in a round so long as she has the life lead, her neutral and midrange pressure is that good.

GGs Mika pc army, thanks for the matches

GGs pc lobby

Attached: 1562855882713.gif (200x300, 994K)

Then the opponent eventually finds a way in, you get tagged once by a combo, and then you're in a scamble to regain your life lead and momentum since Yuzu's defensive options are trash.

Yes that's how the game works.

Attached: 1564669365315.jpg (1920x1080, 254K)

Characters having the ability to use Vorpal to get in does not make them better at the midrange game, Yuzu can still pretty handily play around most of those options. You obviously don't want them to have Vorpal but at the same time its okay if they do win it.

I don't wanna buy a game that will get replaced once uniclr comes out

This is cute but do you have shirtless Hyde?

Then don't

You block until you get Vorpal and GT out, which puts you back at optimal range.

Attached: 1550770229210.jpg (648x710, 35K)

I do but I'm not going to post it

I've never seen a Yuzu use GT

Which is why Yuzu's midscreen pressure is hardly pressure at all and nowhere near as oppressive as you make it out to be

>Characters having the ability to use Vorpal to get in does not make them better at the midrange game
Except it does since now they have more options in getting in besides pure dashblocking. Orie has B thrust, Wald has 236X, Gord has B Grim Reaper and vorpal FF, etc

GT is round start range, and that is hardly optimal when you're in the corner. Plus, blocking until you get vorpal isn't as simple as you make it out to be when a single throw will immediately overturn the GRD balance

If you're not using GT as a ranged character you're honestly fucking up.

Its $15 and CLR is months away. It's not like they'll be drastically different games so get your headstart now. But do you I guess

There are better ways to use vorpal.

>replying

>t. doesn't play a ranged character

Stay out of those ranges. I said she's better at it not that she deletes their options. Yuzu is a character built on counterplay not forcing her will.
Round start range is amazing range, thats the size of most of Phonon's normals. GT is also air unblockable and can be OS'd with throw tech as well (214AD). If you're worried about not winning Vorpal you can afford to bite the bullet on non-Vorpal GT.

I play Phonon lmao I mash Guard Thrust

The key point is in the corner. Round start distance when your back is against the wall is not ideal, especially for Yuzu who doesn't have great options besides C teleport.

>OS'd with throw tech as well (214AD)
This sounds like shit. Why would you use this over CS OS?

GGs PS lobby, hope everyone gets some good sleep. Still haven't popped out the new stuff, but I guess muscle memory is a bitch.

Attached: Elt Heart.png (400x384, 86K)

DOD3hype here, one more cycle then I'm out

>non-Vorpal GT.
Unless it's a Seth unblockable or you REALLY don't want to deal with Orie's 22C mixup, I can't imagine why you would use non-vorpal GT over just veil off. Losing access to assault takes away Yuzu's only option of opening up her opponent besides mediocre frame traps.

Guess that's the last time I'll be fighting you tonight
GGs
I'm way too out of touch with fighting phonon now that two of ours go on PC more frequently

GGs

While you're here, what's a Phonon thing I (other Phonon in the room) should be doing that I'm not? Obviously there's a lot lacking but just the most crucial of what's missing. Still really green at unist.

You also are obviously plus after successful GT which means you can start neutral on your terms.
214AD is good for when your opponent knows how to run safe pressure and how to deal with reversal CS OS. Guard Thrust is the natural counter to alot of the ways you would beat or prevent reversal CS OS.

Ok, that's fair, I forgot about that.

GGs PS lobby

GGs

I was gonna leave on that but that felt way too bad to leave on honestly

Guessing you're Hippie, GGs! I still suck at dealing with Hyde pressure so no worries lol.
I've been dropping them more than I should be since I just got back from taking a netplay break, but learning how to naturally confirm off of all your hits is a big one. Phonon has great neutral/pressure but what really makes her scary is how nuts her damage is, she's a character that her opponent can't afford to make a mistake against while also being really easy to mess up dealing with her. Aside from that a good way to learn her pressure is to run standard rebeat/fireball pressure, watch how your opponents try to beat it, and then try to figure out ways to call it out while still maintaining pressure if they don't do it. There's answers to every gap she has, the goal is to make those answers as hard to figure out as possible by mixing up your staggers and messing with what they expect.

Yeah I get stray confirms that drop a lot, mostly off raw 4b then not jumping after 5c first hit connects due to just autopilot. Thanks though, I'll try to be more mindful during pressure instead of just letting muscle memory take over.
