yes re4 is the best out of the series

No.
Play 1-4 in release order.
Start with either the OG RE1, or the REmake HD. And in case of 2, play the OG one.

>playing a story driven series out of order
Nah. It's a great game, but NOT the place to start with.

RE4 is a mostly standalone game with little connection to the rest of the series. I started out with 4, loved it, and went on to enjoy the rest of the series.

This.
Here's some DL links to the PC ports :

Bullshit. It is a direct sequel to OG trilogy / quadro.

>Is this a good start if I've never played the series?
See that number "four" on the title? take a wild guess.

Oh wow thanks.

>RE4
>Following the events of RE1-3

the fuck? at best Leon mentions Racon City shit on the intro, but this is literally save the president daughter story, only thing he will miss is the introduction of the characters in the last game, but no one will tell you Leon evolution from RE2 to RE4 makes sence at all.

Are you legit retarded, or just pretending?
The OG trilogy + CV lead straight to RE4's events. You won't know any of the re-appearing characters, nor will you understand the references.

>no one will tell you Leon evolution from RE2 to RE4 makes sence at all.
I will, because I actually played the games, unlike certain zoom zoom secondary.

It's probably the most beginner friendly entry - less antiquated controls than what came before, better designed than the bulk of what came after. Don't expect a survival horror game though, if you're looking for that then play RE7/REmake2 if you can't deal with controls from 1996 or REmake/RE2 if you can.

Don't do this.
Skip 1-3, start with 4 and then 5 and 6.
7 is optional.

U dumb asshole. Your numerical order is pointless considering the developers themselves dont go by it. They said themselves they wish they slapped 6 on revelations in hindsight.

This is awful advice for anyone who actually wants to like this series.

Source please. I've long thought that the Revelations games were the RE5/6 we deserved.

I'll give u no source but yes the director said he wished revelations was in fact 6. Juat trust me.

This is now a Red 9 thread.

Stranger...stranger!

Im just so fucking bored of retards

jesus fucking zoomer

Red 9 sucks. Blacktail all the way nigger

Oh shit thanks user

Yeah it's fine, there really isn't that much involvement with RE1-3. Only RE2 matters to the story in anyway because that was the game Leon was in before.

you gotta play it on the wii, don't buy it on steam

the only way you can enjoy 4 is if you haven't played the better earlier ones.

Don't play 5, 6 or revelations at all.

>starting with re4

Pro-tip: use the right stick for quick aiming/turning. You won't believe how much more mobile it'll make you feel.

TMP is best gun.

How is this game with M+KB? Feel like playing it but don't have a gamepad with me currently

I think the remastered version is okay but for the love of God do NOT play the original PC release on m+kb.

Revelations is fine, it's just limited by its handheld budget and even then, it's still probably the tech benchmark for 3DS games to this day.

It's alright, it's how a lot of speedrunners play. You get more precise aiming, but I have way too much muscle memory for this game with a controller so I could never get into M+KB.

I started this up on Switch a little while ago and it felt so unbelievably wrong with dual analog aiming. The game was clearly designed with single analog in mind.

stop playing resident evil 4

Okay, but RE0 isn’t the place to start either.

>Play Revelations expecting to play as Jill the whole game
>Game is actually split up into episodes like a TV series and is filled with flashback episodes
>Only play as Jill for half the game
>The other half you play as random assholes and sometimes Chris

Imagine my disappointment.

Attached: 1552640423487.jpg (702x558, 128K)

I started with 6 then REmake then 4, 5 and finally REmake 2
they're alright

Anyone wanted the castle-version of Re4? The one that had the over the shoulder? Or the one where Oswell E. Spencer (I think it's supposed to be him) turned into a shadow monster hunting down Leon?

>Oh no you will miss out on Ada boring ass character on RE2
>Oh no you will miss out on Krauser
>Leon turning from a regular cop that survives a Zombie apocalypse in RE2 somehow turns into a killing machine capable of cleaning up a whole village, a castle full of actually dangerous biological weaponry, and an island with armed enemies

Like Saddler say at the end, you think this is a Hollywood movie Mr.Keneddy? yes it is, RE4 is self-contained enough to be a stand-alone movie, and the minimal referencing from the past games is not even icing on the cake, instead, you be confused for a while cuz everybody act extremely different.

Stop people from enjoying the best fucking game in the series, that how you get more fans into the series you dinguses.

NOW THAT'S A WEAPON!!

Classic RE games are just as when it comes to ammo. I have no idea how anyone could honestly run out of ammo in those game.

I treat them as different entities entirely. If you play 1-3 + CV first and enjoy them, 4 will likely be a disappointment largely because it's so different from the originals and is more or less an entirely different genre. Not that it's worse, on the contrary 4 is definitely one of the best in the franchise.

I always think chronological is the way to go for a number of reasons, but in this case 4 is so far removed from the classics that I think it's an okay place to start really. You might miss certain references but other than that you will gain nothing having played the originals first.

Also if you really enjoy 4, despite what everyone says I would recommend 5. It's a slight step down from 4 in almost every conceivable way other than graphics but really it's not as bad as people would have you believe. Since it's also only a few bucks right now I'd say its worth it.

> capable of cleaning up a whole village
Mostly cause they are slower than zombies and only sometimes they run at Leon like Chris trying to get Leon to fuck his sister (from what I've seen, only played RE1 Remake and RE0, plan to get re4 next)

I had 105 pistol ammo and 22 FUCKING ACID GRENADES AS JILL ON NORMAL. I'm play as Chris next his game is NOT HARDER I'LL CRUSH MAH BALLS WITH A BOULDER

>play OG RE2 for the first time a few days ago
>have so much ammo i basically just clear out every area of enemies so i can freely explore
so much for ammo conservation...

it's a soft reboot go for it

Play RE4, then play Deadspace 1 and 2, the games that continued to evolve the genre. Between that and Gears of War, third person shooters pretty much died after that.

RE5 wasn't very innovative and there hasn't been much critical acclaim for anything since, except the RE2 remake.

I played a little bit of the RE2 remake, but it really doesn't innovate anything and is just a retread, so it's not all that interesting.

Games pretty much suck balls these days.

Episodic format was born from 3DS limitations as well. The character issue is another matter entirely, that seems to stem from wanting to go as ham as possible with the story because let's face it, Revelations' story gives no fucks.

start from the beginning, the og trilogy is the best. make sure you get a friend for 5 and 6 they are fun as fuck with a bro.
also play cv and 0 theyre ok too and dont forget the REmake
RE2 2019 version remake you can forget as well as 7, outbreaks, dead aim ans survivor bullshit.
revelations 1 and 2 are kind of meh but rev 2 has coop which could be fun. they also have survivor kind of mode you can play with a buddy, 5 and 6 have this too.

after your brain adjusts to the decade plus old controls you'll start having tons of fun. The red 9 is the best hand gun, but the punisher will do till you save enough to get it. You can get that free to if you shoot all those blue medallions.

fuck what he said, you should play 5, 6, and Revelations. just because they're not as good as the ones that came before doesn't mean they aren't worth playing. yes, even 6

No. Start with DMC1.

Agreed. 6 has its flaws, but it also has really solid mechanics and the mercs mode is a lot of fun.

no they are fucking awful

Krauser wasn't even in RE2.
The only people from RE2 are Ada and Leon.
You are literally missing nothing by starting with RE4, everyone in this thread is confused.

start with the best

Attached: jill_pathetic1b.jpg (1271x2048, 638K)

just play RE4 you don't need any other resident evil games nothing even comes close

>1 is good remake is better
>2 and remake are good
>3 is awesome
>4 was good
>5 was bad
>6 was shit, dont even bother
>7 was nothing like any of the others, but still good

Only thing this is missing is the RE3SHDP mod for the GC version of 3
reshdp.com/re3/

I'm currently playing through the series for my first time, at RE2 right now, but the HD mod is pretty good and im planning on playing 3 with it too

Oh shit, didn't know about that HD project for 3. Gonna give that a try tonight, thanks user.

>Start with either the OG RE1, or the REmake HD
Which is better?

Attached: 1444327603869.png (500x720, 518K)

REmake is generally considered better in most/all regards while still being very faithful to the original game and style
but REmake does have some nice additions like defense items and quick 180 turning, which you might miss when moving onto the PS1 games
also there are some small mixups in REmake for people who played the original that you wont fully get, like the dog hallway faking you out the first time

Honestly it's up to you.
I played REmake first, and i'm still having a good time with RE2 now, but I also enjoy the tank controls

Play the holy trinity and forget about the rest.

Attached: RE456.jpg (1200x540, 193K)

even for bait this is pretty lame....

Attached: becca_lab_yousure.gif (320x389, 1.85M)

What character should i play with when i play RE2 remake? And do i have to play the game twice to experience everything?

start with claire. play leon after

Attached: claire_face_101.jpg (540x599, 91K)

The obvious choice.

Attached: 67368384689.jpg (1200x674, 85K)

BASED
Most time the first game is unironically just a gimped version. This is not one of those times.

Everyone knows that RE2 is the easiest
The remake is hard and that's a good thing

From what I've read the castle and ghosts version of RE4 was supposed to build off of plot points and ideas set up in RE0. When Mikami tossed out that build they dropped the plotline almost entirely. Really wish we could get a script leak or something.

Outbreak only had 4 slots unless you were Yoko lol

>that haircut
>that expression
woof

I sincerely hope this is bait

I enjoyed RE4 but god the action era had the worst aesthetic choices in the series, especially those logos.

Attached: residentevilremakecover.jpg (559x238, 21K)

You actually have to FIND that ammo, and spend them smartly. Ya also cannot carry it all.
Old RE games are pretty much puzzle-adventure titles. Even their combat is more akin to a puzzle than shooty-tooty.
