When I was a kid my friend who was my neighbor said that Dreamcasts had the ability to make your dreams come true but only if you put in the right cheat codes and he never showed me what the cheat codes were, what did Austin mean by this?

Sega's final hope
Segata Sanshiro died for this

it was ahead of its time man

It's fun little zoom-zoom, it was the last real gamer's console and has a lot of cool arcade ports and original titles.
Also it's the easiest console to get games for.

He didn't want your dreams to come true, sorry to say he wasn't a good friend.

Are there any other cool emulators like DreamSNES that work on the Dreamcast?

you can play sakurawars3

it's fun

Good games. Ahead of the curve with online play. Calling it trash is just total ignorance. Sounds like something a Sony fag or literal zoomer would say. Anyone who were serious about games back then owned a Dreamcast

I still keep mine hooked up. I dont play it all the time obviously but I seem to always have 1 game on it.

>bought a dreamcast on a whim last year
>now it's my most played console of this year
It's a shame they were able to keep going another year or two, pretty amazing that indie devs are still making games for it 20 years later.

Had better online in 1999 than Nintendo does in 2019.

Nah, I think the PS2 is the easiest console to get games for.

Dreamcast was garbage and had a shit tier launch line-up. All the games worth playing can be played on superior consoles such as the PS2 and Gamecube.

>gamecube
>superior
>all it has are downgraded dreamcast ports
>the worst nintendo first party titles until the wii u
>that fucking controller

It was peak comfy. Playing Chu Chu Rocket, Sonic, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5, PowerStone, Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue after N64 and PS1 was mindblowing for me.

Can you burn CD's with PS2 games with Imgburn in a snap?

no but you can load up a hard drive with whatever games you want and load them off of it with no compression unlike dreamcast

Yes? With ESR patcher. Youd have to be a no taste shithead to not load the PS2 hard drive with isos or load from your network though.

>Chuchu Rocket

Also on Gameboy Advance

>Sonic

Also on Gamecube, Windows Xbox 360 and PS3

>Crazy Taxi

Literally on everything

>Space Channel 5

PC

>Powerstone

PSP

>Skies of Arcadia

Gamecube

>Shenmue

PS4 and other consoles. It's even on mobile lmao

>all inferior ports
dc reigns as king

Innumerable stars

Crazy Taxi has changed music. Skies of Arcadia has a compressed soundtrack. Sonic Adventure ports are always fucked up (the game is shit though). Power stone on PSP sounds god awful.

can't tell us where to go

To good for this world.
Also spawned the cutest nep.

zoomie zoom zoom zoom!

Morons like this How anyone thought the controller was well designed is beyond me.
>cord sticks out towards the player and not the console
It amazes me how this happened and was a thing.

Look how children judge games. I guess NES and Super Nintendo are all shit because they can be emulated easily on everything? It's retarded logic. I played Dreamcast when it was current so I guess I have a higher appreciation of it a d better recollection.

GOTY

all shitty ports and with dc they are all on one console so you don’t need to have a pile of hardware just to play

you are too young you wouldn’t understand, just go back to playing fifa and fortnite

When you emulate a snes game you're still playing a snes game. It's not the same as playing a better version of a game on a different console.

This is the stupidest post ever.

This whole thread is full of yikes and cringe. Kinda disheartening in a way. Judging systems by todays standards is nothing like playing in the moment. Youngfags should just shut the fuck up sometimes.

to put it simply?

it was f*ckin epic sauce... zoomers will never understand -_-

Even sports games were dope as fuck on the Dreamcast. NFL 2K and NBA 2K were way ahead of the competitors at the time, then you had the best version of Ready 2 Rumble Boxing as well.

The anniversary of the dream cast yesterday got me interested in the one I have. Back when I got one I was really young and didn't really like video games so I didn't use it much. Well now I want to play some games on it.
Gonna start by finally beating my copy of sonic adventures and a copy of gundam side story I ordered.
I kinda also want to play Sakura taisen on it but was wondering if for 1-3 are the ps2 or psp versions better?

Attached: 1565708286424.gif (220x220, 933K)

Games like zombie revenge, blue stinger, illbleed, seventh cross evolution would be considered underrated gems and on hipsterfags 3x3 hste had they been gamecube or ps2 games.

SC5 was also on GBA

Seeing a demo station of a Dreamcast at Funcoland was like looking into the future.

>shit tier launch
Soulcalibur says "fuck you"

>top of the controller has slots for 2 VMUs
>why don't cord comes out top tho???
think really hard about this one user

Videogames

>I kinda also want to play Sakura taisen on it but was wondering if for 1-3 are the ps2 or psp versions better?
saturn versions are the best and will be translated by the end of the year.

Assuming the dreamcast didn't get murdered by the ps2, I wonder how long it would have taken for a dual stick controller revision to happen.
It's not like it was a foreign concept at the time, and honestly it's strange it didn't have one from the start.

The 2nd slot was also meant for rumble(since this was add-on back then), or weird shit like that microphone

You are assuming wrong. Sega killed themselves, the PS2 has nothing to do with it

You had to suck his dick but he was too much of a faggot to let you.

Playstation 1 kinda killed Dreamcast. Dudes here really dont understand how Playstation casualized gaming to a whole new level. Normies ate it up. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Embrace it Sonybros.

Language isn't an issue for me. Why are the saturn versions better?

Anyone have a dreampi? I wanna build one just for the novelty.

PSX did got the casual audience, but Sega fuckeries is what killed them. With a better management they could have lived longer

games were so crisp and smooth looking compared to ps1, n64 and even ps2 and had a lot of cozy and weird games that sega was pumping out

plus being able to browse for porn in your room in 1999 was cash

contrarianism unironically. Sega's main/only appeal for consoles, really.

>sonic is hip and cool and edgy not like those other well-designed games!
>pfft gamecube? playstation 2? ugh what mainstream garbage!

Attached: Cursed.png (680x416, 553K)

It was the first 64-bit console. It was the first console with online play. It was almost 1:1 arcade hardware finally fulfilling the promise of an accessible console that could pull off arcade-tier graphics at home.

Unfortunately the other 64-bit consoles outdid it in the hardware department when they came out, broadband internet wasn't fast enough or ubiquitous enough yet (and the console didn't come with a broadband adapter wtf), and arcades were on a downhill trend so 1:1 ports wasn't the selling point it had been in prior years. Ultimately all that's left going for it is a bunch of quirky exclusive titles that were pretty rough around the edges and for the most part have aged terribly.

You are absolutely retarded if you think Sega fans were contrarian. Who bought the Dreamcast. The diehards that didnt bail after 32x and Saturn.

Definitely the DC. You just need to be able to burn CDs and at that time everyone had a burnable CD drive with loads of blank CDs.
That's how everyone had custom color palettes and custom music to their fighting games like Marvel 2.

Ps2 didnt even come with a ethernet originally

>cracks open Monster Energy Zero Ultra
>heh, Dreamcast, now that was a good console
>*sip*

Attached: 9NrX8Oj.png (1925x1130, 578K)

Well the PS2 wasn't trying to sell online gaming as its "killer app", was it?

nostalgia, the game doesn't actually have any good games. Sonic adventure was cool...and crazy taxi

>but power stone

try to actually make sense of the game and it gets old fast, soul calibur 2 is better than 1, hell Soul Edge is better, shenmue is shitty yakuza

PSO is on PC, I guess it has the best version of Marvel 2.

I GUESS

It was literally a Maken X machine. Everyone i knew just bought it for Maken X and thats all they really played

Attached: Maken_X[1].jpg (342x292, 25K)

>PS2 or GC
>in 98 or 99

I dont know about you, but PSO, UT and Quake3A worked online without issues. UT was crossplay with PC and I think Quake was too

They said it was a thing though, as dvd was. And MSG2, a new FF, GT and Tekken as their flags

What are these controllers?
Look like mini wii Us.

Did it fail hard?
Was it able to connect to HDMI or did you play using these 1 inch monitors on the controllers?

I dont understand your argument. If ps2 came put 2 years later with much better hardware but without broadband, why was Sega expected to have one built in in 99? They did release the broadband adapter after all. Ps2 hardware should be compared to xbox where it got fucked on the ass.

The dreamcast is 20 years old so I legit cannot tell if this post is fucking with me or not

It's funny how a person's social circle colors their perspective of the world. In reality, that was one of the most obscure Dreamcast games, probably more obscure than most of the shmups for it.

The first console of a new gen, The marketing, the 9/9/99 launch date, the memory card with its own little screen, the logo/start up sound, the Dreamcast name. the internet on a console.

Everything about it was just cool....you had to be there.

So you hung out with a few weebs? It was really a Sega sports console. 4 of the top 5 selling titles were sports games. I did buy maken x from k-mart tho

Playing games on consoles that didn’t even exist yet

Ok user can I borrow your fucking time machine as well

Fighting games, arcade ports and Sega exclusives.

>I dont know about you, but PSO, UT and Quake3A worked online without issues.
Who said they didn't?

You zoomers can't comprehend how it was going from stuff like FF8 at sub 30 fps to booting up Soul Calibur with butter smooth 60 fps for the first time a year later. I just couldn't comprehend how it was possible. Back then you only had small magazine images to go by so you weren't ready for it. The technology leap during console generations back then were fucking mindblowing. Add online play to that with games like Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast is legendary.

It has upgraded dreamcast ports you fucking retard.
>skies of arcadia legends
>evolution worlds
>pso episodes 1 and 2 with new shit added and touched up visuals
don't reply to me again nigger.

powerstone on psp was superior in many ways.
>can use the entire cast of both games in both games
yeah the visuals are optimized but not by much. mostly texture compression
That doesn't mean I don't love my two dreamcasts but come the fuck on

I'm literally playing this game right now. Getting my shit kicked in on the Gou Inaba path.
Fuck this giant red faggot with the shield

Phantasy Star Online

>HDMI in 1999

Attached: bait.jpg (625x626, 63K)

It was better than N64 and PS1, but Sega screwed the pooch with its developers/partners. Sony was hyping the shit out of the PS2.

It is no surprise that PS2 utterly smashed the Dreamcast.

It had internet browser and the games had online multiplayer. DC even had a pioneering MMO.

>>skies of arcadia legends
easily one of the biggest disappointments with how butchered the sound is
>b-but gamecube discs don't have a lot of capacity!
they have 400MB more than the fucking dreamcast you nincel

>people forget the PS2 had no games until almost over two years since its release

Great graphics (lots of 60 fps games), online play, browser (where you could download new content, saves or images for tags in JSR), varied titles and an arcadefag's wet dream. Aside from some games trapped on it most has been ported or enhanced on other systems.

It's cliche but it's a case of 'you had to be there' to understand how fucking crazy it was on release. Too bad Sega was already fucked and canned it in 2001.

Bait

>plus being able to browse for porn in your room in 1999 was cash
Things most today won't understand. One family computer and dial-up meant either being some fap ninja or trying to print/get nudie rags etc. Got a lock on my bedroom door a line to my room and a DC around the same time. Was fucking great.

Attached: 1268634174434.png (596x452, 48K)

How fucking retarded are (You)? Those games were only on Dreamcast AT THE TIME and playing them in that era was awesome as fuck.

friendly reminder Quake 3 had crossplay AND RAN BETTER THAN THE PC VERSION FOR THE GRAND TOTAL OF 6 MONTHS
fucking zoomers

Lol, this was one year after release.

Attached: 1565051153930.jpg (630x554, 90K)

unironically kill yourself

All garbage compared to what competitors had out already

The fact that I will shove it up your ass if you keep on talking shit.

>Dreamcast
>Terry Bogard
Anything else that exposes zoomers?

>Ace Combat
literally what plane shovelware
>Dark Alliance
literally what
>DMC
cringe edgy trash for fujos
>FFX
meh it's okay
>Car game

>GTA3
janky trash
>ico
muh boring artform movie games
>jak
generic next gen SM64
>MGS2
Good game
>SH2
muh spooky jump scare for teen girls gaem trash

only 2 good games for ps2 in 2001

>Dark Alliance
Wasn't that a multiplat right off the bat and basically better on the Xbox? Funnily enough I remember playing the GBA port a lot a few years later.

>zombie revenge
good taste

If only zoomers dislike the dreamcast then why did sega drop out of consoles when they had a universally beloved machine?

Because Playstation dominated the market in 99 and all the casuals. Then you had Nintendo babies who dont fuck with Sega back then. That with Sega flopping with Saturn, 32x and pulling support early left many not going for the Dreamcast. Too bad because it delivered.

Attached: dreamcast.png (1588x760, 1003K)

VGA made games look much better.
You could also download savefiles from others from Sega official sites. Like other people's chao gardens
People also made VMU games for it, also available on their sites.
Also, dlc, free dlc for a couple of games like SoA and SA2. SA2 had some contest for custom kart tracks that people made which was available as free dlc.

You could use the fishing controller to play Soulcalibur
