What was it about this gen that just made all the games so...not fun? The current gen is obviously way better and I'm still not sure why.

Halo makes it worth it
you had shit taste and didn't own the best consoles of the generation.
360/PS3 was the start of HD era,
in the same way N64/PS1 were the start of the 3D era
it took an entire gen for studios to get used to the new development demands, and wasn't fully realized until PS2/Gamecube and PS4/Xbox1 were out
Had the hardware to display 1080p (not counting the Wii of course)
Powerful enough to almost be HD
Not powerful enough to fulfill on the promises of "HD gaming"
I mean, the best looking PS360 is a fucking Sonic game!
Also, this is the point where the mainstream really started to get into the gaming space, meaning more low effort games that appeal to people with shit taste than ever before.
>I mean, the best looking PS360 is a fucking Sonic game!
not even close
I think that generations main problem was games took themself too seriously or not seriously at all
It's the forced gimmick gen
Tell me there's a PS360 game that looks better than this.
(A single screenshot doesn't really do it justice.)
that looks like shit compared to the sony exclusives from that era.
too bad nexus ran like hot garbage
it really should have been ps4 crossgen
>The current gen is obviously way better
Yeah, no.
don't exaggerate
it ran fine
the framedrops were really bad, especially considering all the ratchet games in the past ran so well
2005-2009 showed promise. We got some pretty good games throughout those years
It's 2010-2013 that gave the 7th gen a bad name
all R&C games had framedrops
do you even know how these games were built? the engine was made to instantly drop to 30 fps as soon as it dips below 60
and that was pretty much every combat sequence
psp was the shit
Everything is spoonfeeding - give players rewards as fast and low effort as possible to hold their attention, so nothing feels rewarding.
Also, player interaction is not encouraged. Devs are so afraid of players calling each other niggers or trolling each other in game that they severely limit how players can interact, and it sucks.
Too many publishers were pushing for realism. Even Hudson was trying to turn Bomberman into something it was not. A lot of good franchises either got axed or ruined.
>Colors are too videogamey. Let's make everything brown and gray
Eh, they didn't really age that well. The sequels don't look too bad, but the first one looks pretty terrible by this point. World Adventure still holds up.
They don't look bad, second one especially, but they feel more like straight PS2 games with more polys and higher rez textures to work with.
What stands World Adventure apart was it's pretty much the only PS360 game (at least for the first half / two thirds of that console cycle anyway, not entirely sure about right at the end of it) that has a proper GI system in place, plus the fact it didn't try to push for ultrarealism, which really, the PS360 was NOT cut out for as much as devs tried to push it.
Sure it did and then it held 30 pretty much always. If Nexus held 30 like the remake there wouldn't be as much of a problem.
