Duh.

he was our guy

Guy killed his fucking wife, of course he is.

james did nothing wrong

did you play the game?

Will there ever be another good Silent Hiru?

Depends on how you look at it. The game has multiple endings so that is a fair answer. It all depends on if you look at his act as one of tragic desperation or not.

she literally asked for it

How long was Mary sick? Because if it was like years or something, then can you imagine putting up with that emotional rollercoaster from her every day as in the long hallway where James recalls a memory of her screaming at him to leave only to break down crying begging him to stay and not leave her alone. Can you imagine what that kind of shit could do to a person? What he did was obviously wrong, but it's almost impossible to blame him because he had been through hell himself.

Sure thing James, whatever makes you feel better.

He just want to COOOOOOOOOOOM

strangely accurate take

Aw man, mods deleted the GET?

Lame...

Heather > Henry > Harry > James

He is just human

no worse than a slave killing his abusive master to gain his freedom

I don't want to think about it I couldn't imagine a worse hell. I dread the day my parents die.

Attached: 1504082481820.png (400x400, 210K)

God so many parts of SH4 were just retarded.

Yes I can very much blame him.

Nah, he put his wife out of her misery.

He's a deeply flawed individual, not a bad guy
If it's anything like living with a disabled parent, I feel for him.

not really

Ain't a great feeling, especially when the signs of breaking down start
>dad had a health scare last week, complaining about left side of chest going numb
>wasn't taking his blood pressure pills properly, spent like 6 hours at the hospital by his side scared out of my mind
>gets all clear from doctor and finally comes back home, seems normal
>later that night I hear a shout from my brother who's giving him rapid chest compressions

turned out to be fucking dehydration

he was an emotional wreck of a guy.

It was 3 years. Hence why in his fake memory she "died" three years ago.

The town make him stupid

AFTER ALL

He was more human and sympathetic than any protagonist the west has shat out over the past 10 years.

>not water one
kys

It's the same dialogue.

Henry was just ultra autistic. He's the worst of the four.

Nope, letters are different depending on 3 endings

Silent Hill 3 is trash and I'll never understand why people like it so much. Even if it has some good spooks and atmosphere, none of it has any weight or context because Heather's fucking dull and trying to cram in a bunch of new explanation about the cult just lessens the mystery and spook-factor of the original two games.

>Henry
Disgusting choice. The worst main character in the main series. If this guy was an actor instead of a vidya character, it would be one of the worst. His fucking poker face in every cutscene makes me want to punch him in the nose

>james is a good guy ending
>in water
>leave

>james is bad guy
every other ending

They're not. Unless you count longer pauses between lines "different".

She literally did not. He snapped under the pressure and then invented new memories to soothe his guilty conscience.

Heather's probably the least dull out of the team silent protagonists. But the story is easily the most dull.

I just grabbed the first version of the letter I could find that was just the letter. Doesn't seem like there's any of in water without the scene of him talking to Mary first.

>Those everyday Silent Hill threads

Wanting to die is not the same as asking someone to kill you.

Doesn't she also say that she didn't mean any of that and she was lashing out?

Wanting to die =/= wanting to get murdered.
Fuck off james.

>I told you

just because I don't ask for gifts doesn't mean I don't appreciate receiving them

That so fucking hard to understand

t. ESL

quite the opposite, it's the endless thirst for a new SH game that fans know is never coming

The whole point of the game was that the guy you were playing was the bad guy all along. The question is, was this the first popular video game to do this now tired trope?

real funny pal

>wanting to die =/= wanting to be killed
Ok

>new memories
Not quite, it's a bit more gimmicky.
The original plan was always In Water, he killed her and drove to SH with her in the car to off himself In Water, as confirmed by SH4 and the Toluca Lake picture.
As he went on, his autism kicked in, he repressed what he did, including all the suffering of the previous 3 years, and in his mind she died 3 years before, so he found himself "without" a corpse in the back of the car, with a gimmick letter that said "dude meet me in SH" and he just went to figure out what was going on as the town worked as a reminder that "dude you gotta kill yourself etc.".

I meant it was the line that hits me the most, not that I didn't understand it brainlet.

Attached: 1550346830743.png (853x477, 435K)

>I told you I wanted to die, I wanted the pain to go away
>that's why I did it, honey. I couldn't watch you suffer. No, you also said you didn't want to die. The truth is, I hated you, I wanted you out of the way, I wanted my life back
>if that were true, then why do you look so sad?
I think, at least leave/ in water, it was an act inspired by love but also fueled by frustration, so you can come to your own conclusion on if it was right or not.

I think he's saying that HE struggled to understand it because he's an ESL, overly defensive user.

>people who like in water and the creator agrees that its the most canonical
>instead of the one where he follows mary's wishes and moves on with his life

>the human mind collapsing in on itself from guilt and depression
>gimmick

It's not right, but it's also hard not to see how the thought would cross his mind, I think any of us would want to put a loved one out of their misery instead of slowly watching them wither away, and that's without even considering the frustration, stress, etc etc that would come from interacting with them and having to care for them.

Fuck bros why is SH2 so good, now I have to replay it.

It was made by talented people who wanted to tell a heartfelt story.

Am i the only one who this line makes feel good? She was able do experience happiness with him. and that's a good thing.

is pyramid head james stand?????

"It's hot in here, aren't you burning up?"

"It's always like this, for me"

For me its the bittersweetness of the line that always gets me. Like yes, you made me happy, but now that's gone

Attached: Ace.jpg (475x792, 243K)

Leave is more emotionally satisfying and fills the purpose of the game better. Eddie shows off a delusional, unrepentant perspective, Angela shows a suicidal, sorrow driven character, and James, in my perspective, works best as the one able to find redemption and break through the town. It's also the only one to show Laura to conclude her adventure too.

Based Henry delivering autistic justice on the NEET and getting laid at the end.

Creator never said it was canon, just that he preferred it. He also said eastern audiences preferred in water, but western preferred leave

>eddie's Silent Hill is unbearably cold, dark and stained with blood
>Angela's is flesh colored, and hot as hell
>James' is wet and rotten and rusted

My mistake then, I apologize. Still I don't think it's that hard to understand, she won't ask him to remember her and force him to remember her, but the thought of him forgetting her pains her, which is exactly what he does with the Maria ending.

No, he dindu nuthang.

Got rid of diseased trash, that would have done the same (or worse) to him.

Canonical in that, its the most likely the author's to agree with. I also hate the idea that Mary's in his fucking trunk, its so needless.

Yeah, well, tough shit since Water is the canonical ending.

>canon

It just hits you so good when you discover that you went trough all those literal hells just to be able to comfort your painful memories and the things you did. A very good "inside is way more scary than outside" story, the first one done in video games.

If you love your dog enough to put it out of its suffering. Why wouldn't you do it for your wife?

No. Not his fault he got put in a shit game.

Bros, my gf died of cancer when I was 26, and I think she was the one, I cry every time I best this game, it's pure heartbreak kino. Thank you for reading my blog

Attached: IMG_2616.jpg (954x728, 71K)

How was Mary trash?

Wow, thanks for explaining kind user. Intuitively i got it but failed to transtale properly.

>I am SO sorry for what i've done to you. You've given me SO much, and I haven't been able to repay a single thing
Goddamn my heart. Mary's va on point

Attached: 1552779516786.jpg (1068x1320, 92K)

If she was the one she wouldn't have died genius.

No its not

I think you mean
>It's hot as hell in here

your wife aint a fucking dog, you dont take a human life unless you defend your country

>your wife aint a fucking dog
yet

We have no control over life's tragedies, user. Her dying doesn't mean she couldn't have been the one.

>vinny ususally memes through even the most serious of games
>he gets to the hallway scene and gets real quiet
>the whole letter fucking him up

shit was a trip

>your wife aint fucking a dog

If she's white she is

In Silent Hill dogs put you out of your suffering, not the other way around.

>you dont take a human life unless you defend your country
Jesus Christ, baby's first moral philosophy.

Marie was a diseased ugly freak.
Good riddance I say.

I feel like your wife should be several magnitudes of love above your dog

The hallway scene got far too real for me. But I love it for how it cuts the core of this kind of scenario. Unfortunately at some point in your life, you'll either be in James' or Mary's position.

Probably both for some too.

i've already got leave and in water. which ending should i go for next? i was thinking UFO

>sh2 endings
>any canon
Wew

The Hallway is always the gutpunch, its the sucker punch you get right after the adrenaline high from beating the Pyramid Heads. It's cruel, and there's nothing you can do to avoid its criticisms or judgements

doge

eddie's silent hill is killing all his old bullies and eating pizza
>nothing you can do to avoid its criticisms or judgements
you can run through it before she gets 5 lines out

>eddie's silent hill is killing all his old bullies and eating pizza

wtf I thought silent hill is supposed to show you bad things

i would but i can't get it yet since i don't have rebirth yet.

So what was the unforgivable thing Marie did?

treat him like shit for 3 years then ask him to kill her

The guy spent years with perpetual blueballs in a world where nurses dress like whores and his dying wife wouldn't give him anything. He was literally high test to the point he had to kill her or he'd reunite Germany, reform the Reich and conquer Poland again.
His murdering antics were entirely beneficial to the world.

>eddie's silent hill is him killing old bullies and eating pizza

It's a fucking slaughterhouse freezer room man, I think you missed some context.

Also to your second comment I meant that it's guilt but delivered to you directly through audio, so it's not a "creature" you can defeat

Not letting him to fuck her and then tell him to kill her.
He just did what the ultra sick bitch wanted.

Would Eddie be Yea Forums? Yea Forums sure as fuck wouldn't be James.

If one day you have a daughter, do you think you'd name her after her? That scenario crosses my mind sometimes and while I think it sounds beautiful also wonder if it would be rude toward the child mother.

Attached: 1565787764974.png (500x505, 131K)

You're aware of how many people mercy kill their loved ones if they are in hospice and in extreme pain, right?

4/5 of the people I know who had to deal with parents, siblings, or spouses in hospice admit freely that they overdosed them on morphine towards the end when the pain was obviously becoming intolerable.

The only one I know who died naturally my grandfather, and my grandmother admits to regretting not helping him because of how bad it got towards the end.

Part of being a loved one is doing what is best for the person who loves you/you love, sometimes that means mercy killing.

Thats the fucking point of the game.

>mercy kill
Yes, you do it for the ones getting killed.
In fact you also kill all these animals that you then eat later to help out these animals.
It's never about yourself, it's to help the others.
That's why you kill them.

>t. satan

It's been 6 years, I haven't been able to open myself up to dating anyone since. Honestly, I think I would, I loved her, and she uplifted me when I was at my lowest, and had 20 dollars to my name. I don't know if I'd tell the mother of my daughter, it may just be something Id keep within myself.

Attached: 1568135418265.png (378x379, 220K)

I wonder if their perspective would have changed over the years, if he might kind of reflect on it and that jazz. As a thought in water was good, but after dealing with a long term disease in the family, leave felt so much more conclusive and fulfilling

While In Water is poetic and sad, I think Leave is... It's what Mary would've wanted. And I think part of the game is recognizing that. James' journey was in order to move on.

I'm sorry user. I couldn't bear to go through what you did so know that you at least are a strong person and I'm sure she's thankful you're hanging on.

>In the car with my mom a while ago
>she randomly turns to me and tells me that if she ever gets dementia or Alzheimer's or anything of the sort, she wants me to kill her
>tells me that at that point, she's not even herself and that even if the diseased mind in her body tells me not to do it, that I should do it anyway because it's what she wants now with a completely sound mind

There's no history of either of those things in our family but I'm honestly scared.

Attached: 1521319740615.png (440x440, 197K)

but he is also chicken n waffles

>but I'm honestly scared.
Why wait until she is like that?
Why not kill her right now?
You know you want to do it.

this guy gets it. the town amplifies his gukt.and sorrow and turns him delusional.

Eddie was vengeful and the town's corrupted spiritual energy amplified his unconscious desires. he ends up being corrupted by it throughout the events of the game, culminating in a final showdown with James that ends with him being killed by James.

I hope one day you have that chance.

What kind of retard watches somebody else play games?

Thanks Bros, appreciate you guys

Attached: 1565390839197.jpg (419x600, 34K)

Gimmick as in bullshit letter. He never got it, but Silent Hill made sure he got part of it so he could get there and kill himself.

I have the Very same Illusion/hope.

He was painfully human.

That's pretty much left open to you, and to a lesser extent what ending you get.

Personally, I would argue that he was not a bad guy. Just a normal guy that did a very bad thing for understandable reasons.

do you need to have had a tragic loss or girlfriend to appreciate the letter scene? because it never impacted me and i feel like i'm missing something.

forgive me because i'm actually retarded. the letter mary reads at the end was the one james had all along? or the one laura had and gives to james at the hotel?

He made a decision he regretted and wasn’t even sure why he made it
He’s a bad person but he has the potential to redeem himself

It’s closer to his Shadow

>James, you made me happy.

Why is life so hard, guys?

Attached: 1323198462910.gif (225x170, 1.79M)

im sorry user, at least you got to experience true love before it ended up worse

What would your Silent Hill look like, anons?
I think mine would have to do with all my problems with people. Probably a school or something.

It's impossible to tell because his mental state was several degraded from being in the city for so long.

You have to remember that James killing Mary was probably the moral low point of his life. It was when he was at his absolute worst. Think of what you acted like, or what someone you know acted like, at the worst point in life you can think of. And then think of how that person was for the rest of their life. James is not a completely abhorrent person. He’s no saint, and definitely more than a little selfish and definitely guilty of a few sins, but he’s no villain. Think of how many terrible examples of human beings stalk the streets every day. People that murder, rape, steal, and brutalize without remorse or regret. Real pieces of work, demons in human skin. James felt so guilty over one PARTIALLY CONSENTUAL murder and a killing in self-defense that the entire plot of Silent Hill 2 happened.

James is a shitty person but not a truly bad person

fuck off

The story is a little more straightforward than 1 which I guess appealed to a wider audience. Some people just like that the protagonist is a cute girl. It does have some remarkable visuals and is good on the horror at times, but I think it also has some serious issues with the story.

Heather would've been better if they didn't try to rush through so many different aspects of character development in one game. I started out liking her but they flipflopped with how she acted so much that it was almost disorienting and didn't really make sense.

In later dev interviews, one of them said that multiple team members wanted to do more "spinoff" type stories like with SH2, and they didn't want to do a sequel for 1's story. I think that's part of the issue why 3 didn't turn out as well as 1 and 2, because some of the team members probably resented having to do it a bit.

My in-laws have a history of alzheimer's. Wife's grandparent's don't even remember me and her parents are starting to slip too.

I don't have that picture with Mr Rodgers in silent hill but probably that.

No, he was just another boring main character in a boring franchise that survives on nostalgia for having scared retards with shitty textures and crappy banjo music.

Bruh don't smooth out your brain it's bad for you

Depends on how you view morality and whether good people are capable of terrible things or if being capable of doing terrible things in the first place makes you a bad person.
