I need a voice actress for a small role but I can only find professional/expensive ones. Where do I find one? It used to be you could find them on Tumblr, but...

What's an acceptable price for voice acting? I'm thinking about doing it for fun and I don't mind undercutting some retards. Also where do you go to solicit people looking for voice actors?

pretty good, working on aesthetics

Gotteem.

>>What's an acceptable price for voice acting
Depends on your experience

Fuck me if I know. Heard there's a Discord somewhere, maybe try Twitter

I was like that, now I complain about actual devs in /vg/ while having no idea what i'm talking about.

Local theater company or theater department. They will work cheap. Might even try a highschool theater teacher if the others are not an option.

I wish I had the capacity to actually git gud at programming but I just don't enjoy it. I was hoping it would eventually "click".

Looks like shit, you should stop while you're ahead. Acutally just off yourself, this will save you a lot of trouble.

Might not work too well. They are indeed cheap but me and the other dev live in countries where mostly everyone speaks English with a heavy accent.

Craigslist or even better, a pinboard at a comnunity college. Make sure you use a lot of buzzwords.

>enjoyment of it
This is me. I went to school for computer science and mathematics but fuck me do I hate working on code.

this is unironically true

What's your problem, dude? Have you convinced yourself that you can't code, or draw, or write music or something? Or are you just lazy like me?

>Implying just earning a degree will get you millions

theatre school?

Then write the accent in. Or dont bother. Frankly you dont seem very creative or much of a problem-solver.

I know that feel. I ended up dropping out of a programming course because eventually I just had no passion or talent for it.

looks cool user, any other webms?

I wanted to make games once but I'm not cut out for indie dev and corporate vidya development is the absolute worst CS/programming job out there.
I finished my CS degree though and got a job doing full stack dev for a software company that does data management for car dealerships. Flexible hours and benefits, feels pretty good desu.

I'd read that

>tfw you're expected to work on your own projects and shit during the weekends and show off what you do in a lot of companies, companies get really worried that if you have a gap on your github contribution log

I took a programming course and did learn a lot, teachers were great and were helpful but I just couldn't enjoy doing it constantly. Once I was done, I just stopped programming because I didn't enjoy it. At least it's a income share agreement so I only have to pay them if I get a job in a tech related field which I doubt now, it's been like 3 months since I last touched code and I lost interest.

>this is the IQ of the average Yea Forums poster

looks cool gonna follow

First off, voice acting in a small scale indie game is a bad idea. It'll sound like shit and no one will care if it's absent. Not to suck toby fox's dick too hard but the way undertale uses little cut up voice samples as characters talk is a good way of getting the idea of their voice into people's heads without the standard indie dev thing of "coder's sister disinterestedly reading their lines through a 12 dollar mic".

its a low poly meme survival horror, unless your wage cuckin it up it shouldnt have took you this long

So progress(?)

I can get games as a optional project to do because they're actually fairly challenging to make and is a good test of your skill. I don't think it should be one of the main focuses though in a programming course unless it's something simple or it's to show a concept on how to use a data structure or some shit.

Every time I come up with an idea something in the back of my head says “that’s already been done before” or “that won’t be fun”
I don’t want to just ape other things or sell out and make some shit mobile game but I’ve been creatively bankrupt and it’s driving me off the edge. Every time I want to start working on something that voice just tells me “no one will want to play it, why bother?” The self-doubt is crippling.
I also suck ass at spritework and making music so I can’t even bide time doing that and it just exacerbates the problem because it just brings back in the cycle of “why bother”.
I don’t have any like friends or really who are interested in mentoring me or know of any places where I can chat with other people who could help. r/gamemaker is the blind leading the blind and good YouTube tutorials are either old as shit and invalid, made by a 10 year old, just stops halfway through, or gets paywalled on patreon.
Half of me wants to keep going to get a degree so I can do QA for some company but the other half says end it all.

Flash being dead only matters if you want wide^H^H^H^H audience and don't mind learning EOL tools. /f/ still is alive^H^H^H kicking^H^H^H.

Usually you don't use HTML5 directly but instead use some engine/middleware/framework that hides the many faces of the living* standard**. So think of it as an export target rather than development target.

*things working today won't tomorrow

any tips for modelling low poly assets? i really like the style of your game

Coding is such a fuck dude

Art
Writing

>needs to use undertale for a technique that has been used for 20+ years
zoom zoom.

In order of increasing difficulty
>ideaguying
>writing
>music
>art
>coding

And yet, a game with kind of shirty coding can still be carried by a combination of the other 4.

study assets from other low poly games you like

Attached: mega-man-legends-2-1.png (1280x720, 145K)

>art
>easy

B-but GUI is the best part? The clean separation of presentation and business logic just fills you with satisfaction. I cannot even create a button without the whole MVVM(C) just for the joy of it.

Unity I guess, you'll use C# for both anyway

Nah, art is definitely harder than coding
The amount of time you need to become a good programmer is much shorter than the time you need to become a good artist

>imagine if your brain wasn't so broken by television and video games that you can't consider something a hobby or r&r if it's productive

That noise fucks up the bitrate

Becoming a good enough artist is easier than becoming a good enough coder, but I'll grant you becoming a great artist is probably harder.

thinking about putting any more effort than writing into my idea makes my chest feel really constricted. more than usual when just trying to write things out. i dont believe i was meant for anything remotely creative

For me it's easier than having to sit all day looking for the fucking comma I missed

I'd rather sit and animate 1,000 keyframes than even touch one line of code

Art has structure and understanding
Coding is fucking chaos filled with conflicting bullshit

Attached: at risk.png (923x655, 87K)

Guy who’s learned 3D modeling 2D art rigging and texturing over the last 4 years here. Rigging was the most confusing but took the least amount of time to learn. Art was frustrating at first but now it’s an incredibly slow but easy learning process. It’s very strange. You just don’t “get” something you really do have to continue to do 1000 drills until it’s apart of you.

This is why
A) you treat the project as a hobby
B) do as much of the work yourself as possible
C) do commisions instead of straight up hiring people; you're some random normalfag, not some AAA company with years of product and money it can live off when times get tough
And the in the case that you can't do B), then maybe consider limiting your project to something more text based, or just finding something better to do. Or if you're really obsessed about the thing then just find some random game company to invest in instead.

>Coding is fucking chaos filled with conflicting bullshit
it's the exact opposite. unless you're doing some heavy design architecture , coding is logical and precise. it follows rules.
art is difficult because it requires creativity, and it is much more difficult to be creative than to follow a set of instructions

I'm trying to get started on that, just not to fall into the perpetual worldbuilding trap. Once I've sorted out places of nations, a general gestalt on the religions, I am going to go ahead and get started and do the actual writing. Getting into the weeds of pedantic shit may be entertaining for one worldbuilding for worldbuilding's sake but it will suffocate your time in actually writing.

Problem is I've been reading more nonfiction than fiction so my brain is rich and fertile for scene-setting but I'm going to need to bigthink.png when I want to tell the story.

You might have too much freedom and that paralyzes you. You are trying to be rational and choose the best path. Try imposing yourself some bullshit rules to force your hand into bad outcomes. Like never erase anything, even typos. The more bullshit the rule is, the lower your mental bar gets. You cannot win, but you can still play.

just ask your mom or sister

Horror game?

>logical and precise
>Have to scroll through 50 documentations to find the thing you're trying to do
>It still fails because your spaghetti is conflicting with something else
>Problem solving is never the same from game to game because everyone has different approaches for how they do things

Fuck no dude.
I can draw a shit line and someone can point that out in 2 seconds
If I write up a piece of shit spaghetti code character menu or inventory I can't simply post it and have someone know what the actual problem is without looking at the entire game file and even than

I fucking hate coding man

Attached: i am a confuse.png (1174x881, 990K)

Art is arbitrary bullshit. Is it good? Is it bad? Who fucking knows
Programming is an engineering discipline. Shit either works or it doesn't, and performance can be measured

>hey mom, can you make "lactating" sounds for me?
>oh and sis, if you could make sexual moaning sounds that would be nice

Jokes on you I already wrote my novel. Granted I haven't heard back from any agents after submitting it to a few, but I wrote it.

I'd wonder about music if you have no skill at musical instruments. I'm finding for mood-setting music there's no end of pagan european, middle eastern, celtic, medieval, but for getting that Greco-Roman mood it's slim pickings.

It's not code for me but doing database work in Total war modding made me glad I am not a code monkey.

>single mistype somewhere in the database
>CTD lol we won't tell you what went wrong go and find it nigger

ahhhhhhh. It made me love google spreadsheet and using it to compartmentalize and organize stuff so that I could narrow down what changed, what went wrong.

Just do what I did and write an outline of the plot and events that take place with little tidbits of world building in between. Use this purely as a guide

>He wants to join the corrupt, slowly crashing gaming industry
>He doesn’t just want to make good games as a fun hobby
What a loser. Anyways, after a year of crappy work, I can now begin actually making my game.
>Paper Mario style turn based combat
>Game is set ??? Years after Smash Ultimate World Of Light
>The game is fun
I basically want to know how absolutely horrible a universe where a large crossover of video game characters tries to make a normal society. It’s all fucked, by the way. The main character is from a Fire Emblem game, and the game mainly just focuses on all the forgotten side characters in gaming. I know it sounds like fanfic garbage, because it is, but I like it and want to continue making it.
Is it bad that I’m using blueprints? I wanted to use the unreal engine, but the only programming language I know extensively is python and I don’t see myself sitting down and learning C++ anytime soon.

what fetishes will your hgame be dominantly featuring?

Is it a 3d gabbo unity ass grab with esl writing?

Sorry to disappoint but it's pretty vanilla as far as hgames go, there's no primary fetish it's going for. You're probably looking for pregnancy mindbreak cuckoldry or something.
Naw just an RPGM game.

There's no point making 3d walking animation models if you're a solo man team

And you also have to keep in mind your main audience plays these games on toasters

It's why Renpy is so popular

Time to kill yourself tardy

>pregnancy mindbreak cuckoldry
not even close, in fact you posted easily the top three most off-putting
just vanilla isn't particularly exciting either but if the characters are strong enough it could be a "h is secondary" type deal i guess.

y-yes

Trying to get back into coding but have no idea where to start. I took a class in HS for it and enjoyed it and was even pretty good at it. I haven't coded in a little over a year and I barely remember anything.
Anybody have any suggestions on what I should do to get myself back in the swing of things?

Attached: 1564123108341.gif (297x348, 2.94M)

Real talk is there anywhere to post free games like the newgrounds and build your name up or is everything just cheap shit on steam and demos on itch.io?

>There's no point making 3d walking animation models if you're a solo man team
You can literally get animations online for free. As long as your model is human-like/bipedal they will work flawlessly with just minor adjustments. There's also stuff that makes rigging and animation making faster and easier.

haha yeah the models should just slide around when they move instead of animating
>lazy no effort "engine" for visual comics is easier for brainlets that don't make games
Obviously

>just vanilla isn't particularly exciting
This so much, I don't get normalfags. "Ewww non-vanilla stuff wtf" but then wonder why their porn game never gets popular or doesn't rakes in the neet bux.

He's just standing there
MENACINGLY

You still have to make them interact with the environment, no?

Unless you're planning to re-skin an existing game it's still a shit load of effort

Post everywhere. Even in small forums but they are harder to do because most have rules on shilling so if you are planning to make a game, even if it's in the alpha stages or even in the idea phase, posting about it already will only benefit you.

I'm feeling like I've wasted me dev time. My game will probably be one that nobody super enjoys.

Same here.

>You still have to make them interact with the environment, no?
You do one, you can apply that one to all your other model provided they are all bi-pedal. You have non bi-pedal ones, just small readjustments. Apply bi-pedal rigging, adjust it to have 3 dicks, adjust your animations to have 3 dicks some minor checks and adjustments, adjust your code then you're set.

>52k
how
why

what game

What kind of game are you trying to make?

You can easily prototype 2D games in C# using GDI+ just to get the hang of stuff like game loops, accepting input, multi-threading, etc...

Then you can use something with hardware acceleration to make the final product

Speaking of the nintendo switch, there is a gamedev software for it that just came out. It's in japanese but it looks pretty cool.

That NVidia API is a lot better than DirectX for that hardware. Compare for example the memory model and admire the nv.

>scratch

get game maker or something and start working at that, tons of fucking documentation.

Making a fighting game. Got the roster sorted out. It's gonna have 8 characters rn and they're in the planning (I.e designs, moves etc.) We need to think of better names for them so we need help with that

You didn't actually send them the entire novel, right user? Just a query letter. The issue comes from writing an enticing query letter and selling yourself from the first sentence. It's like applying for a job, except worse because you're competing with millions instead of several hundred. Can you sell your book in a sentence? If not, you're gonna have a rough time.

like what names? just generic ones? do any of them have gimmicks that you want to name them based off of?

It’s fine. I don’t care if I release or not. I don’t even like or play video games.

I do it because it helps me be creative and use my imagination. It seems to be really healthy and helps my brain improve. Gives purpose to things I learn which makes me want to learn more.

Math, English, History, Art, etc. all apply. Some good stuff. Then again making video games is not the same as playing them where you’re just a gamer but for games.

Truthfully I would never download your game.
I would see it
see the 0.1 on some 3d shit that will have more time spent on nothing burgers
And than download some Renpy jpg game

It's not the performance that bothers me, it's that the only API I know is directx and I don't want to have to learn another/code two versions

Honestly, I don't know 100%. I figured I should get my feet wet before I just jump in to making something big. I just know I want to make a game. I have a couple of ideas though.
Wasn't scratch. It was python. Still didn't learn a lot.
I figured using something Game Maker or Godot would probably be the best.

Attached: 1566578486671.jpg (366x399, 19K)

Never wanted to make a game
Don't ask me about my novel though

Maybe I should've spent the last 4 years making a game instead of being a completely worthless NEET.

No I mean if you want to learn how to do stuff, do scratch. There was a robot game website that I encountered which teaches you programming by programming a robot before but for the fuck of me can't find it anymore.

Christ alive smut gets you noticed but does it pay?

I was in one of (well, sort of, it was Toby Fox themed) these threads recently and was kind of a dick. I know it doesn't matter to any of you but my conscience keeps telling me to apologize so I'm doing it.

post the joi or your full of shit

You need to write a new renderer, but that should be pretty straightforward. Not a small task, but straightforward. You have only one target HW, and when it works, it works.

OpenGL doesn't have bad performance until you try to submit very large amount of drawcalls. But the API(s) sucks ass.

Yes, Vulkan is pain in the ass since it was constructed by combining all graphics hardware features on the market and putting them behind optional flags. Avoid if possible.

describe one and I will try to name it

it's in spanish and she ask me not to.

The moving vegetation definitely adds to the eeriness

>python
My bad I assumed everyone learned C# like my school taught.

I'd use an engine then. Many have scripting languages you'd be familiar with.

Released it for free, literally nobody played it, it got drowned out by the millions of other releases on the site. It's fine though, I mostly made it to play myself and I enjoy it, and it was a fun process making it, so it's all good.

lmao ok you lieing spic, fuck off back to fucking the family dog

>TFW to insecure and embarrassed to post my game on Yea Forums

Fuck dudes whats a good engine to just make point and click stuff with.

Yes yes I'm well aware that most popular porn "games" are lazy cash grabs reusing the same 3d assets (or rarely extremely poorly made 2d art) in comic book format (click to advance panel and text with zero game). If someone wants to actually put in effort to make a real game with porn then let them. Anyone doing it for the money either gets to get very lucky now or do furry porn so it doesn't if it's another lazy rehash that's been done 500 times or an actual attempt.

We have a character with the code name "Asteroid" who's like your typically biker character with an orange Mohawk who has explosive and fire based powers

You could have stopped this

>You have only one target HW, and when it works, it works.
Except I'm trying to make it for PC, Xbox and Switch (no PS4 cause the devkits are crazy expensive and I'm just making this for fun and maybe earn a few bucks on the side).

I might just work on making the assets until I'm not so mad about the code

Marketing.

Yeah. Class was kinda an after-thought. It was taught by one of the business teachers who didn't really want to do it. He had me and a buddy teach most of the lessons because we actually knew what we were doing.

I want to see this same post after you did a dev time for a full year with no other income coming in

Is gamer really censored, or am I now forced to use cummybrain?

I'm just wondering, do you think a game that has two different broad play-styles would be too jarring to actually play?

Why would I dev full time if I'm not getting income? Everyone one of those scammers you fellate started off working part time and as they milked you more and more moved over to "full time" (working maybe an hour a week) development

One day you'll finish that 3rd person handhold tutorial for unreal.

>filter cummybrain on Yea Forums
>don't filter it on any of the other boards
lmfao

>I only read the headlines before moving on to argue

They do, the my is the outside. It's Kumbrain, not Cummybrain.

>want to do 3D game

i'm stuck forever making shitty gamemaker games

What site is that?

Made a Megaman-esque game for an assignment in school once. I wanted to keep working on it after I turned it in but I never got around to it.

>Just study a financial field dude you'll get rich no problem!
A boomer made this image, no doubt.

cuck95zone.
Don't listen to that user, anyone using that site as a metric for anything, especially taste, is a dum-dum.

I tried looking for legit get rich quick schemes but boomers have made all the results real estate and cold calling. It pisses me off.

Here's my shitty story for my shooter.
>game is about no-life waster who watches movies
>fantasizes about being the chosen one, aka mary sue who's just automatically good at everything and adored by everyone
>"god i wish i were the chosen one for a change, no-one respects me, i have no power over anything in my life, why am i even here, waa waa"
>war ensues as your neighboring country invades
>you're drafted as a rookie
>you keep doing increasingly difficult and dangerous things while your character climbs the ranks to become a colonel
>game ends with a final note "dude i actually had to do shit to get anywhere in life and all it took was a war to happen for me to realize this"

honestly this didn't bother me until I started playing grinding games
fuck those

It's coming along. Maybe I'll actually finish something for once. That would be swell.

I'm still working on the physical component. I'd say it's almost feature complete, but now comes the process of adding more stuff to it, so I may have to shift enemies around or rebalance carefully crafted numbers. All theory stuff, but still grueling
I released a broken beta version and haven't released the fixed one because it wasn't content complete up to what I had at the time

All I'm saying is why not give war a chance?

If i knew where to get a prostitute or escort i wouldnt be doing half this shit.

Great attitude for making games these days, i'm making mine with the same mindset. I just want to make a game that satisfies my obsessive desire for great balance and customization, if other people play it that will be cool. Plan on wandering around some online forums giving it out for free to anyone who will give feedback once It's ready to be beta tested.

Personally I'm not a fan of the meta irony stuff as a premise.

Unless you're going for a comedy, no.

People are going to assume a game released for free is low quality. You'd unironically be better of selling it on Steam or something.

Put me in the screencap famalashamadingdong

Okay but what the fuck is will the full-color print out of that code.
On fucking black background.

I'm sure he already closed the thread and pretended it never happened.

You could try learning VB.NET
It compiles to the same thing as C# but without the tricky syntax

There are even websites that can convert code between VB.NET and C#

That's why there was the layoffs. Too much money spent on ink cartridges.

He didn't even do that, he would've figured out the joke otherwise.

Damn I dont give a fuck about all this arguing I just want to know if I should go for Unity or Game Maker for my hentai games.

>when you have two computers but still have to print out the tutorials just to follow along

>He does not make posters of amazing code
What kind of a programmer are you?

follow your heart

But, if you had a patreon for it, you could still take it at your own pace, if not slower... isn't that how patreon works? Produce the absolute bare minimum so people keep giving you free money?

if you're doing 3D at all do Unity, otherwise Game Maker is an easier starting point IMO

2d? Godot
3d? You can try Unity or wait for Godot to get it's next big update

Ohhh that's good one actually. Thanks a ton. If you wanna help with others it'd be greatly appreciated

Start with the gameplay, my boy. Setting, story, and characters will come later.

is RPG maker really the shittiest software to make games? I was planning on using it

too lazy to bother making one

Pretty good, I'm learning to do art so I can draw girls for my pixelshit rpg game, and I'm really enjoying it.
After a few days I'm making low resolution wifes I'm happy with.
Its maybe not good enough yet to convince anybody to try my game but it's getting better the more time I spend on it.
This is just the best project I've ever had, I really love it, it's like 5 rewarding hobbies in one and at the end I get to show people.

Attached: lu2.gif (140x209, 13K)

RPG Maker is fine. The issue is that it's so easy to use that there's a metric fuckton of no-effort shit made in it, which skews public perception of games made using it.
On the other hand, the same people that bitch about "RPG Maker games" also don't know how to tell what games are made in RPG Maker; you'll frequently find people bitching about them in threads here, only to have it pointed out that the game was actually made in Game Maker or something instead.
Just don't use the default assets and you'll be fine.

RPGMaker MV is kino tier and if you can use javascript you can do a shit ton of stuff.
It has a pretty great interface too, very quick for prototyping. The engine just gets a bad rep because its the chuuni idiots weapon of choice, and because it doesn't stand in your way if you want to use it for low effort garbage, many people do that and then the engine gets blamed.
On any other engine people would call out the asset flip dev but with this one, the engine and surrounding community catch it in the ass.
Its fun, I've got 2000+ hours and recommend getting on it next time it's on sale for under 30 bucks, which is about 8 times a year

thanks bros, I think I'll keep on using it then
I'm making literally everything from scratch, from music, to graphics, sound effects and even menus

If you're going to make a basic turn based RPG then it's alright.
It's biggest problem is it's graphical assets and it's limitations.
Unless you want to have 3D rendering, action combat or fluid movement in the overworld(running offgrid, jumping and stuff), it's just fine. If you want any of that you might as well use another tool.

Man after my own heart, doing the same, I love it.
Got a dev blog? I'll follow progress of anybody here, don't even have to follow me back or nothing

nah, maybe next thread. I have stuff to do now.

If it's not published, you still can't say that. That's like calling myself esquire because I watch judge judy.

Not him, but post yours and I'll follow it. I think following other people doing similar work shames you into doing more.

RPG maker is only really useful if you want to make turn based JRPG's, and turn based JRPG's made in RPG maker have next to no demand and insanely high supply.

It'd be pretty funny if this actually was real and the user simply didn't believe it.

I'm back where I've always been, nowhere.
It's that time of the year again when I dig up some of my old ideas and realize that I've never learned how to code or make art, and barely did shit in terms of music.
But hey, if you want a fresh idea that you won't pull off because it's too bothersome to realize, here's one.
Rhytm-based beat-em up with Jet Set Radio aesthetics.
I'd make a design doc for that one, since I've pretty much had most stuff planned out, but I'll just shelf it anyway like all the previous ones.

Attached: 9528b38102181ba833c7d644bba25604.png (438x400, 180K)

Not being published doesn't nullify the fact that someone wrote a book. It's a good idea to preface that statement with "I wrote an unpublished book" but still.

Sure
okochox.blogspot.com
It IS a lewd game, but I post progress.

it's obviously made for JRPGs and that it gives you all you need outta the box to start making specifically a turn based JRPG, but it's nodeJS and chrome under the hood, so if you want, you can disregard whole swathes of the inbuilt systems and just never use them. You can program your own or use community plugins that ape popular games to make hybrid systems, it's really neat.
I don't use any of the inbuilt battle, inventory, menu, none of that, maybe I'd feel differently if I did but I think it's a great little engine that more people ought to give a chance.

>action combat
Will take some effort, but is doable depending on how complex you want it. There are a few plugins that do Zelda-like combat already, and some guy even made a Touhou action-platformer back in RPG Maker VX, so it's definitely doable in MV.
>fluid movement in the overworld(running offgrid, jumping and stuff)
There are a ton of free-use plugins for pixel-based movement out there, and jumping can be done in Events already, though you'll probably want to code something more precise if you're also using pixel movement.

And I'm an unbarred lawyer.

Attached: mad_space_pirate.jpg (520x512, 131K)

I use Jordan Peterson's AI voice as placeholder.

>removed

>graphical assets
I remain convinced that nobody is actually intended to release a game with the inbuilt assets, they just package in some battlers, sprites, music and sound so that you have zero excuses not to get going on your game.
Think about it, you can't be blocked in any area if they give you these prefabs to get you started.
There's really no excuse for releasing with stock assets, but guys always try to find one. The popular one is:
"Yeah, but my world has X and Y, so I think it can still be popular even with the default assets"
And if they really believe that, I guess at a certain point you just need to let them go at it.

Being a lawyer actually takes some licenses to exercise it. Being a writer/musician/painter/dev/etc doesn't. Obviously if you're going to mention that you do some of these things, it's good to point out that it's not on a professional, aka someone actually paying you for your creation, level, but it doesn't nullify the fact that you did in fact write a book/wrote a song/made a game, yada yada yada.

Attached: Gx0jHfn.png (740x509, 114K)

The stuff is possible, but you'll need to go trough such weird ass loops and unecessarily complicated shit to get mediocre results.
You might as well use another tool at that point.

And I practice law for myself. Just like you write for yourself.

You can call yourself a lawyer but have nothing to back it up, he calls himself a writer and has a book to show for it.

If you learn all about the law for your own uses, you still did that whether you have a piece of paper proving it, or not.
The guy can write a book and say confidently that he wrote a book. He can't, however, say that he wrote a bestseller, just like you can't say that you are practicing law.

You can actually practice law without being a lawyer in some countries. We have in England "Mckenzie Friends" who are not legally qualified assistants who can help people who are representing themselves in court.

Are you being obtuse on purpose?

Sounds like youre a big fat fucking liar

I've provided several hours of legal counsel explaining terms of service and user agreements to myself and niggers on 4chin. Nice book homo.

Well in that case that would be the equivalent of an unpublished writer/indie dev on Yea Forums

I love this guy

Attached: 1556490532982.gif (1372x1024, 800K)

Releasing commercial RPGMaker made games is an aftertought. It's supposed to be a hobby tool but it lets you sell your finished products.
Those assets are for people that don't want into art and still make their little adventures a reality.
Commercial games using those assets just means the dev couldn't make art or didn't think it would be worth drawing new tiles just for the overworld, etc.
There's even DLC for more stock assets.

>me looking at the Yea Forumstards fall for this easy bait

Attached: 1558765682278.jpg (900x1285, 149K)

>for a moment I dreamed that i had travelled forward in time 25 years and that I was living in the year 2019
LMAO

I remain convinced.
Nah, I totally get what you're saying. It's just the out-loud reasoning and cope you encounter within the community, people with aspergers who really want it to be accepted for them to use inbuilt stuff, so they reason it in circles at great length until everybody else gives up and they continue believing what they were gonna, anyway, which is
>people WILL play my 7 dragon crystals adventure about angels vs demons called "Song of Alia Sorrows: Chapter 1: Melody's Blood Oath and Reckoning" and the story will be so revolutionary that it's okay for me to use the same hero character as 90% of other games!
The ones that really get me are the lewd games where they don't bother with new sprites, they just commission artists to draw what amounts to lewds of the default RPGMaker character sprites.

Crazy shit.

>114 pages in
>still working on plot
What are you doing user?

How proper is it to cold-call a dev and say "I like your demo and if you want music I would team up"?
If the dev is still early on of course.

>WAH WAH WAH
>I WORKED X HOURS INSTEAD OF PLAYING VIDYAGAYMES
>BOOMERS OWE ME MY MILLION NOW
>WAH WAH WAH

It'd be pretty wired especially since they wouldn't even know what your stuff is like

I used to do this all the time, 10 years ago. If they're looking for somebody and you have a portfolio, go for it, worst case you'll have a bunch of emails from developers who went on to get bigger.
If you really want to work on a particular game, come pre-cocked with music you whipped up for their demo, played over footage of it or whatever.

Likely just a first draft.

best of luck bro, don't give up. I don't have a blog yet, I think I'll start a journal once I finish all the character sprites, but yeah, I'm loving the process

Even if you just snag a placeholder blogger page before this 404s, I'll happily follow your progress, even webring if our games are similar and you're into that whole gay as fuck web 1.0 thing.
If it's not to be, that's cool- best of luck to you, too!

Not too bad, although they might already have a musician. Make sure you have a portfolio for them to check out, like a soundcloud page. If nothing else, they might keep your contact for any future projects or maybe to help out if their project grows.

So I am at level 7 now.
I want to figure out how to make better boss ai since I want to have 5 bosses in total.
How does this sound?
>first boss is just a kid
>second is a faster clone with lunges and a sword
>third is a biker with a shotgun with a sniper support
>fourth is the sniper but he uses the background elements as support.
>fifth is a priest that uses magic attacks only
>the final boss uses elements from every boss before hand and can only be defeated when he asks the player to give up.

Yeah, I worked on a few projects already that have some press buzz so I'm not a total unknown (wouldn't dream of cold-calling without a 'portfolio' myself). I'm just tired of waiting around for someone to say "I need music!" and fight the other 500 people rushing in.

I think making a few demo tracks over their demo is what I was going to do. Thanks for the perspective.

Not necessarily but myself and lots of other people automatically ignore anything made with it.

Its not a bad program but its totally understandable that people avoid stuff made with it because people can, and do, easily use it to make low effort dogshit.

Pic related.
What's the plan with the cards?

Attached: nod.gif (205x154, 249K)

Not being some random guy online is usually one of the roughest parts to overcome. After that you can pretty much contact whoever you want. It can sound desperate but that's just part of the game. The demo track over their demo is a great way. Good luck.

just make a patreon and accuse your coworker of rape

Pardon?

>It's supposed to be a hobby tool
RPGmaker devs treat it like one, sadly. And that's still better than they treat Pixel Game Maker MV, which released in Early Access without machine-translated tutorials. Did you see the "contest" Kadokawa is holding for it? "The winner will be published on the Switch!" ... Except the contest states that all royalties go to Kadolawa, LMAO.

right now? keep the paint art. later sexy version of all the monsters

How do you even achieve some modicum of popularity?
Developing is one thing, but actually making your game known seems like a completely different beast.
Especially considering the amount of garbage found on Steam that has soured people's perception of the indie scene.

There's tons of great, charming indie games that I have never seen being discussed here or anywhere else aside from the rare namedrop in hidden gem threads, almost as if they were destined to forever perish in total obscurity.

Attached: 1527641379547.jpg (1062x1062, 180K)

I also wonder this but since I'll never finish a game I don't think too hard on it.

Luck can be a big part. Getting the right person in the right place to notice you which snowballs the whole thing. But more often than not, good games, even janky but charming games, manage to break through the masses. It just needs the right hook. Risk of Rain for example, as far as I know, had zero marketing. Hobbo started out in /adgc/ threads, had the right hook, now he's in the big leagues.

Thankfully my game will have furshit so I aim to ride the honry autist wave by posting some updates on furry sites

Does it have to be a sentence? Wouldn't a page be better?

most people read the first line on the back of the book if you can't sell the publisher with that they can't sell your book to normies

I got a problem Yea Forums, I'm a porn artist with a reasonably sized audience and I make enough off patreon and commissions to live comfortably off it.

I'm doing a game on the side and it's pretty good but I'm scared of posting it without being recognized and my irl identify exposed. Is there any real life celebrity artist who draws a shit ton of porn?

Why are you posting your real name and stuff with your game/porn in the first place?

>Why are you posting your real name
