I said this yesterday. It’s true.

one does ambience better, the other melodies
can't really compare the two

hardly a controversial opinion, even grant agrees with this

>even grant agrees
Citation

It depends on the style of music the game is going for. They're both good.

I don't really get all the hooplah over grants music. it's ambient and fine for the areas it's in, but listening to them outside of the game environment is boring and unmemorable

I agree and they're both good

literally ask him on twitter

Wise is more consistent than Kirkhope, but they are equal at their best.

Grant deserves his praise for the Banjo, Viva Piñata and Mario + Rabbids series. The first two are no less than phenomenal in terms of music, and Rabbids has a lot catchy stuff in it too.

I would want anyone else to do a Banjo game but Kirkhope, but Wise clearly is a better all-around composer in my eyes. I think Grant slightly edges him out in terms of making earworms, though.

Poor Robin Beanland never gets any love. It's only because he's composed for so few of Rare's popular games, which isn't really his fault. Had things gone slightly differently, we might be worshipping Robin just as much of the other two. He did a great job with Conker and the tracks he did for Nuts and Bolts were surprisingly on par with Grant's.

>I would want anyone else
*wouldn't

Does literally anyone compare to Koji Kondo, though?

The opening to Killer Instinct is like the perfect time capsule of the 90's.

Kondo is iconic and has a perspective that allows him to remain iconic and fresh but he's not the best of all time in terms of raw output. I'd put Wise above him when it comes to putting out music that is just good to listen to.

Have you seen his youtube channel? It's full of videos explaining how the moon landing was faked. I think its funny.

Why not both? They have respective talents.

Yeah I wish Robin Beanland scored more games. His Killer Instinct work is great, though I do think Conker probably pushed his work to the edge. There's so much great music, and a wide variety of it in that game that it sorta makes up for him not scoring anything else.

He scored this. It was a cut challenge track in Nuts and Bolts from a never-completed wild west level. It was used in L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges though.

Catchy as SHIT

Yeah Conker's soundtrack was great. Sometimes i still catch myself whistling the overworld theme

Video game music that doesn't sound like video game music and tries to sound more like movie music sucks ass.
