>stadia is bad

>buy game on stadia
>works until stadia shuts down, nothing else required

>buy game on PS4 or xbox
>pay $250 for the console
>pay $60 each year to play the game you already own every year
>buy the game again in a few years when the new consoles come out
>buy the new console
>after all this you STILL have to pay $60 to even play the fucking game

>basically over a 10 year period
>stadia, $60 for the game
>normal consoles, $120 for game twice, $600 for online, $600 for the consoles, well over 10x more expensive
How the fuck is stadia bad again?

It just sucks, its laggy and needs extremely good wi fi

It's not

>not having 802.11ac support in your home

Welfare check much?

The fuck is this retarded no brain thread?

>pay $60 each year to play the game you already own every year
But what if the game I bought on PS4 or Xbox doesn't have online gameplay?
>buy the game again in a few years when the new consoles come out
But why do I have to do this if I already purchased the original version?
Save for enhanced re-releases like ZOE 2nd Runner MARS, you don't actually have to buy "remastered" games. You are aware that it's an option to not buy a game again, right?

You don't need the online service to play a game dude.
Google is notorious for backing countless projects they then immediately throw away.
remember that fucking wifi juicer that only juiced their own brand juice packets and you could easily just ring the bag yourself? Google backed that.
Nobody gave a fuck about PSNOW until it allowed you to download the games from it. Not some people give a remote shit about it.
Every live streaming game service either died or changed into something else that wasn't live streaming.
Stadia will be no different.

>But what if the game I bought on PS4 or Xbox doesn't have online gameplay?
All the popular games require it, it's not optional for the vast majority of people

It's something being implemented from the top down, ie there's no real demand for cloud gaming, but rather it's a type of draconian DRM service that publishers cream their pants over and would love to see becoming the only way to play games. The average consumer has no issue at all with purchasing hardware.

I heard it's good for absolute poorfags, but fuck, if you cannot afford a used PS4 or Switch whichever is the cheapest box around, you probably don't have an internet connection fast enough for a good experience. Not to mention data caps, cloud gaming such as Stadia will destroy your data caps faster than anything.

You're also ignoring how you can get discounts for console games, you can buy them used and such. Cloud service? Goodbye discounts, there's no second hand market which means the people providing the service control 100% of its game prices. Guess what, without any sort of competition for selling the games, you're fucked, enjoy your it's $60 or the highway platform.

Also the latency means Stadia and similar shit will always be inferior to playing games on your own hardware.

Google Showed that someone was basically wired connected to the damn server and it still had input lag and.

this is a lie

>buy game on GOG or pirate it
>play it and keep it. Forever.

The end.

>All the popular games require it
Such as? Oh you mean Fifa, Madden, and COD? Is that what you use your console for?

why would you not use an Ethernet cable in your own home, 802.11ac is a WiFi signal standard
for faster broadband you'd need fiber or some shit, which just isn't offered in every location

imagine actually playing dude bro sport and shooters in the year 20xx

>2019
>owning anything

Only poors who haven't invested in a decent router with a solid 5G band complain about wifi lag.

If you're a gamer, take a course in Basic Networking or spend a weekend soaking Youtube tutorials. Worthwhile skill to have.

>xbox
>buying the game again
>pay $60 each year to play the game you already own every year

this thread is made by someone who doesn't own an xbox

you're definitely the same poster as this guy
why would anyone game over WiFi?
if you live in a decent sized home, 5GHz simply won't have the range to be worth it when you could easily use a cable on any device within range

Don't even have a PS4/xbone, but that's what the vast majority of people use them for.

Ok I forgot about Fortnite. That's only on PS4 and I doubt even casuals play literally just that

>using the google botnet and not bing, which gets you free MS points which convert to xbox credit, meaning you can get gamepass ultimate for free
>xbox is backwards compatible, meaning you don't have to buy the game twice
>free version of STaDia only gives 1080p, $120 a year to match 4K
>if the game is on gamepass it becomes even cheaper
>can still stream my game in 4K at no extra cost plus custom high performance compression algorithms mean xCloud uses less data than STaDia

Yeah no, xbox is cheaper by a long shot

/thread

imagine being over 10 years old and playing sports games and dude bro shooters. Most actual people who enjoy games as a common hobby dont buy online ive been playing playstation 4 since they came out and never payed to play online cause online is dead on console since the xbox 360.

People were calling bullshit from the getgo, nothing to be surprised here.

>tfw Xbros are on the top
It's a good feeling...

>Post from march

Needs to be added
>Only hype from people thinking it'd be a Netflix for games
>Google only lets it slip on a website corner after the E3 presentation that you have to buy games full price for it.

The best sellers have been GTA and various versions of cod/FIFA for over a decade with the exceptions of pubg/Minecraft....

Also lol at the first bit, most people just want a bit of mindless distraction with friends they don't consider gaming as a deep intense activity

I'm unironically thinking of offering stadia to my bro for his birthday, he works and travel so he cant own a desktop computer and he said he doesnt want a gaming laptop because it's heavy and inconvenient. Bad idea ?

Yes. My brother travels a lot and loves his switch for it. He's always hated handheld gaming and it's the first one he's been into.

Except when Stadia goes down, that's also every game on the thing, regardless of if it's singleplayer or multiplayer.
Contrary to that if I have a copy of a singleplayer Xbox One or PS4 game, I'll always have those to pop into an Xbox One or PS4 and play.
On top of that, you assume Google won't flake on Stadia and shut it down within a year when they make and kill off new services every other week.
You could lose your game library tomorrow on a whim and at most would be left with a controller and a Chromecast.

The stadia lagged at their demo of it at at their convention booth at PAX. The device is for no better than OnLive or any other game streaming service.

I'd be fucking disappointed in my brother if he game me such a fucking awful product. I mean, I wouldn't even know what to say, I wouldn't want to offend him, but fuck him, he knows I hate shit technology, Google, and online services.

You scoff, but part of the reason the PS4 is so ubiquitous is because it's the go-to console for that one single parent in the trailer in flyover country with a copy of Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty practically bolted into their machine. They have no Internet stronger than DSL thanks to the local satellite TV provider piecing out their area as its own little fiefdom wherein it can charge a premium for a grand total of 5 mbps.

Then what the fuck would you want ? I already gave him a switch last year and he wouldnt care for other consoles

Games for the switch, Luigi's Mansion 3 looks great.

Ask him if he needs anything if you are completely clueless. Consider his interests, maybe you find something he likes and would make good use of. I'd avoid buying games and shit though, unless of course you know that he would totally be interested in it, but if you're not, just give him the money and tell him to get what he like (or idk exactly how it goes in America, it's totally fine to do this here).

So instead you'll buy him a subscription-based platform that requires essentially fiber internet connections to even use, and even then there's massive input lag? Fuck sakes, when they demoed it they had their showfloor a couple blocks from their servers and they couldn't even play Assassin's Creed Odyssey without a second and a half input lag on a fiber connection.

>wifi
The only excuse to be gaming over wifi is if you're a full retard.

With stadia, you need a stable high speed internet connection.
You can pay for high speed but you cannot it doesn't guarantee stability or low latency.

Yes, this thing depends on a pretty damn good connection, and there's no guarantee the hotel or wherever he'll be will have enough bandwidth for a good experience.

based

>works until

And there's you're problem right there. Streaming games has inherent lag no matter how good the connection. I tried Google Project Stream. It featured AC:Odyssey. I'm on an uncrowded T1 line. The video compression was like going back to VHS, and the movements always had that perceptible lag - just enough to annoy you in casual movement and more than enough to throw you off precision movement at high difficulty.

It makes sense for 3rd worlders who suddenly have access to top tier internet - I'm guessing Google is thinking about G5. It's technically impressive, but it'll fail just as many other game streaming services have before it, for the same reasons. No amount of unique streaming tech and clever video and audio compression tricks can overcome physics.

>It makes sense for 3rd worlders who suddenly have access to top tier internet
Nevermind the fact this is a contradiction, they'd need to put a fuckload of servers in 3rd world places, and from what I've seen they only have servers to provide an alright experience in the US and Europe.

New tech 10 years down the line and who knows. This would have almost made a bit of sense if Google had actually been following through with laying/buying up fiber and being an ISP, instead of giving up after two cities or so.

>made a bit of sense
>Google

Is my 40mbps enough for stadia?

No

Buy a game on Steam stay comfy forever and fuck all of you jewchinks opinions.

I streamed one game on PSNow on my wired desktop and holy shit never again

....no?

On PS4, exclusives such as Spider Man, TLOU, God of War, etc don't require PS+.

Large AAA multiplat games like Red Dead 2, Skyrim, etc don't need it either. RD2 has multiplayer but it's entirely optional.

All the games listed are popular with the casual gaming audience.

Or if you're playing on a modern Nintendo console and would rather rant about the machine not having a native Ethernet port here (a legitimate complaint to be fair) than shell out an extra $12-ish for a decent third-party one.
