The big disconnect that I had to contend with, with Animal Crossing and a lot of games like it, was the idea that a game doesn't necessarily *need* an endgame, or a win state.
The thing is, games are *supposed* to be inherently cathartic, just in the basic act of playing.
And a lot of games are, but I think we tend to get caught up a lot of the time in the

mentality, that we tend to associate enjoyment in a game with beating it, and forget to actually enjoy the act of playing itself.
Animal Crossing is 100% about enjoying the act of playing, and nothing else.
It's a video game Zen garden.
For someone used to CONQUERING video games, that can be a little hard to really come to terms with.
