I've been in a relationship with an objectively great person (smart, 7-8 good looking, kind, faithful, etc.) for 8 years but I honestly miss being single. Not even to be free to bang other people. Just to be more independent and do whatever the fuck I want.

Relationships are obsolete in 2019. We have the internet and will never be truly alone when we can just talk and socialize with an infinite amount of people just like us at the press of a button. Video games and other media are also 2000% more entertaining than any relationship could ever be. Without any of the headache, boredom or drama that's inevitable even if you find a great partner.

This and their unrealistic dating expectations. Rampant pornography consumption probably doesn't help either.

This seems to be an increasing trend not only in America, but in every 1st world country like Japan. People don't want to deal with the hassle of relationships but want to reap the benefits. That's why most young people are opting for hookups now. Unfortunately this means only the top 20% of young men will get 80% of the prime pussy, the rest will have to settle for the scraps.

Can't speak for others but it adds more depth to character development and it's nice seeing characters you're spending possibly hundreds of hours with show a little warmth. Of course sometimes this isn't done well and can come off as just painful but the attempt is appreciated. I just like seeing depth in my vidya is all.
