What's the story with F-Zero, really? Are Nintendo just butthurt because they put put so much effort into GX/AX and it didn't meet their sales expectations? The game has 40 unique characters, all with backstories and individual theme songs (!) The gameplay is so solid and the game still looks good by today's standards, and yet
>no port to any other system >no sequel >no mention of F-Zero except Smash Bros.
I hate that all of these awesome motherfuckers are stuck in purgatory:
>Are Nintendo just butthurt because they put put so much effort into GX/AX and it didn't meet their sales expectations? nigga they flopped fucking climax sold more
Colton James
Because like Starfox, F-Zero was just a relic of the past, and no one knows what they want to do with the franchise anymore.
Cameron Nelson
>Because like Starfox, F-Zero was just a relic of the past, and no one knows what they want to do with the franchise anymore
It's a fucking futuristic racing game with wacky badass characters, you don't need to re-invent the wheel. Just make an updated version of it every 5 or so years with new tracks and more cool music. Nothing wrong with that.
And it's a bullshit reason when it comes to Nintendo because they have been rehashing since the Wii.
Brandon Murphy
>Just make an updated version of it every 5 or so years with new tracks and more cool music >AX They're not going to bother again.
Matthew Torres
A traditionally made F-Zero is not going to be profitable because it's not Mario so the series is shelved. They've only used the IP for Nintendo Land and Mario Kart 8 this decade so they clearly have no interest in making a full-scale game for Mr. Smash Bros.
Carter Powell
>Sega makes game for Nintendo >they BTFO nintendo on their own hardware >nintendo doesn't know how to improve upon or even match the quality of GX >sells like shit >stuck here waiting for a port on the switch never ever
I'm close to buying a gaming pc to play GX on 4k 60fps
Adrian Bailey
Because who would want an F-Zero game when we have Mario Kart haha
Brandon Phillips
I don't know what you are trying to say. Was that the initial plan with AX is that it would be updated with new tracks? I get the feeling the reason why Nintendo doesn't do F-Zero anymore is because they were irate at how it didn't take off when they pushed it really hard in the early 2000s, with the anime, multiple GBA games and GX/AX, so they just gave up on the series.
Joseph Rivera
>Are Nintendo just butthurt because they put put so much effort into GX/AX Nintendo didn't even make those games, Sega did. Imagine that, Sega made Nintendo's best Gamecube game, how pathetic can Nintendo get? Even funnier it was directed by the Yakuza director.
Owen Cruz
GX was never going to sell well. It was at a time when things were never advertised here in the UK and the gamecube was the least popular console. It was terrible going into a store and seeing half a shelf for gamecube releases and the entire wall for ps2/xbox. I'm so tired of racing games which focus on using items to beat other players instead of risks and brute force.
Anthony Anderson
>Sega made Nintendo's best Gamecube game Sega made Jungle Beat?
Elijah Roberts
Just play Redout instead lmao.
Aaron Gomez
>Nintendo didn't even make those games, Sega did. Imagine that, Sega made Nintendo's best Gamecube game, how pathetic can Nintendo get? Even funnier it was directed by the Yakuza director.
Is it possible that this is the reason F-Zero GX hasn't been ported? Are the yakuza that run Nintendo ashamed that Sega made a better F-Zero game than them?
>Nintendo is livid because their collaboration with a former rival resulted a quality product on a Nintendo system I've always loved this argument.
Cooper Fisher
>le jealousy meme again Nah man the game probably didnt sell as expected so they shelved the series.
Nicholas Ortiz
It sold like shit. That's it. Jesus, you F-Zero autists are Paper Mario fag tier.
Angel Campbell
Nintendo ports all of their old games though. It is so conspicuous that GX is the one they just don't port. I think they are jealous that SEGA wrecked their shit and showed them how to make a great F-Zero game. Creative people get possessive of their creations and if I'm not mistaken, F-Zero (SNES) is one of the games that was personally directed by Miyamoto
So now we can only play the SNES version of F-Zero and not the best one.
Josiah Sanchez
fuck off with this shit m8. Nintendo ports games that sold like shit all the time. Look at how basically the entire Wii U library is being ported to Switch.
Nathaniel White
>conspiracy theories You know they rarely port any game past the N64 for some reasons. Only exception being the WiiU since they sold like shit for the most part. Also filler.
Jacob Bennett
For most people that's fresh content, because literally nobody bought a Wii U.
Aaron Reed
WiiU games are relatively recent to be ported over at full price.
Joshua Reed
>Are Nintendo just butthurt because they put put so much effort into GX/AX and it didn't meet their sales expectations
Nintendo didn't make the game. Amusement Vision under Sega did. They're butthurt that AV made a god tier and critically acclaimed game on a console where they were putting out mediocrities.
The arcade board that the game was developed on was a joint project of three companies: Nintendo, Sega and Namco. Are you seriously arguing that Nintendo, after being willing to partner up with various companies, wanted Sega to not come up with a good game? That said, I don't know why they have not ported it. Perhaps because it apparently sold so bad. Or they could have some licensing issues with the music and stuff because of the collaboration.
Jaxon Adams
Nintendo just doesnt care about the series. Or I guess just keep hoping that the series is bigger than it is.
Hunter Thomas
>all the time >recent console that flopped hard
Jonathan Ross
Played this game for the first time last week. It holds up incredibly well
Eli Jones
>a franchise with only good to great games has been dead since 2004 >garbage franchises like Borderlands and Fallout keep getting new releases It’s not fair bros
Cameron Miller
Where's the conspiracy in this theory? It's observable fact that Nintendo is afraid of GX.
This, people don't remember how bad the Gamecube was for first party games.
Parker Gutierrez
I would buy a switch if they ported gx and added online. Instead they're busy remastering shitty games from the wii/wii u era
Jaxon Wright
>It's observable fact that Nintendo is afraid of GX. No? It´s just assumptions out of nothing.
Wyatt Edwards
How does this run on Dolphin? Any glitches?
Jaxson Thompson
Game runs okay. Noticed the framrate isn't consistent, but tolerable. I had non-stop issues with the sound, it was always crackling and I couldn't sort it in settings.
Chase Morgan
Bro did you try playing GX with any of your friends? No one I know would sit down and learn that shit with me especially not when I had hours of practice on them. It's too niche.
Michael Edwards
Miyamoto is notorious for having his work one-upped. He hates it. No surprise someone with all that weight to throw around would rather just forget when their former biggest competitor one upped them at their own game.
Nicholas Cook
The excuse is that Nintendo can't think of any new gimmicks to put into a new F-Zero game.
Logan Perez
At least F-Zero is more consistent than Star Fox.
Henry Rivera
It's bullshit, Yea Forums. F-Zero fans aren't even asking for a lot. Just add some more tracks and pilots then call it a day. The story could be told in some shitty comic book style page. Have some kind of online functionality.
Tyler Bailey
The fuck are you talking about, they port all their old games? Even just going off Nintendo-owned IPs released on Gamecube, they've never ported Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart Double Dash, Paper Mario TTYD, Custom Robo Battle Revolution, Chibi Robo, etc. etc.
Eli Lewis
Kinda glad F-Zero's dead because if the fanbase is any indication they don't deserve anything good.
Dominic Bennett
F-zero is garbage outside of GX
Ryder Sullivan
X was better than GX and SNES is fine too
Andrew Reed
The Yakuza director and creator used to be at AM2. He said Nintendo was so stunned over Fzero GX that they demanded sega to send them the source code
Jackson Howard
Is this fully playable on Dolphin? Game is super fast paced so I wonder if it actually emulates properly
i'm just asking for a way to play an non SNES F zero that isn't the wii virtual console.
Levi Rodriguez
>Nintendo ports all of their old games though. It is so conspicuous that GX is the one they just don't port. What are you talking about? The only Gamecube games that have ever been ported to anything were Luigi's Mansion, Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
It's been asked already and answered already. Read the thread and stop asking to be spoon-fed like an infant. Even better, head over to the official Dolphin site and check there.
Cameron Powell
I bought the game when it came out at least. But you just can't expect good things for this series. It's telling that even here on Yea Forums you'll be lucky to see a f-zero thread break a hundred posts, much less go to thread limit (I don't think I've ever seen that happen).
If nintendo ever gives f-zero another chance, whether through a GX remake/port or a new game then I will buy it and I hope you all will too. But I've given up hope on this series ever being brought back.
yes for years it has been game has native widescreen support and you can up the graphics in the emulator
Matthew Ross
on a mechanical level it totally was
Robert Carter
They had an anime too. And two more GBA games. You can't say they didn't try at the time. Still kinda ridiculous that they didn't even make a new 2D F-Zero by now.
Josiah Cooper
no it wasn't.
Juan Lewis
Remember when they made a really shitty F-Zero anime?
it was pretty okay, but i'm not sure who the target audience of it was.
>if you were an f zero babby you wouldn't quite get everything and all the references >if you were an f zero fan you'd get annoyed by all the character changes.
atleast we had an awesome Goroh in it.
David Barnes
>Nintendo just butthurt because they put put so much effort into GX/AX Nintendo didn't put any effort into it since it was all Sega
Oliver Rogers
Not him, but I greatly missed the X Cup. Having randomly generated tracks was the funnest shit, as the AI would go insane and kill themselves and do other crazy shit.
Andrew Gutierrez
X has cool things about it, but to say that is better than GX is so wrong that it is actually kind of painful.
Nathan Young
I like both games equally, but I agree that GX is better mechanically. I like the soundtrack and X-cup from 64. But I like everything that GX provided as well, customized machines was cool as fuck. I just want more f-zero man.
Angel Richardson
Here's my (absolutely will never happen because of several reasons) list of what should be in a new F-Zero game:
- more characters - more badass music - considerably more tracks - full ability to make your own tracks with all elements available for use on it, and the ability to play them online with friends or even randoms depending on stuff - (up to) 30 player online races, with selectable AI filling the gaps - dedicated servers for online play instead of a peer to peer garbage mess - split online modes between several types: normal or custom craft races/death race (ala F-Zero X)/AX cup style rng auto-generated tracks/custom track selections - released on pc for that super sexy smooth framerate and no need for lowering graphical resolution or culling of detail to keep a framerate
There's more that I can't remember right now, but that'd be a good start.
Jonathan Lopez
You laugh, but that's exactly it. Mario Kart sells gangbusters. F-Zero by comparison has always been a niche franchise that only just barely turned a profit.
