Why's Persona never in a College setting?

Yea Forums I want your opinions. Why do you think Atlus would never make a College/University setting for Persona?

Do you think it would miss a target audience that decided not to go to college?

Do you think it's because the "find yourself" period of life happens more often in high school?

Because college students aren't the target audience. Japanese highschoolers are.

Because college is a scam

College Students don't have time to save the world, they're too busy being depressed and in debt.

I want a Japanese Salaryman Wagecuck setting.

Because university is for faggots

Why's Persona never in an adult setting?

Fucking this

I enjoyed that movie

Jrpgs take hundreds of hours to complete. They are only playable by high schoolers and neets who want to go back because nobody else has that much time

Do you think College Persona could work?

Other way around. It's wish-fulfillment. It's so these college kids can re-live their high school years, but in a way they never got to. They just want to go back

College and adult Persona can easily be done with Persona's gameplay loop. College Persona would be identical to high school Persona while adult would need to switch out the school life segments with work life segments, with the MC being graded and promoted via player decisions at work and they would have to find a way to somewhat guide player actions(restricting areas, encouraging side hobbies and social links) in spite of the increased agency an adult should have over a youth.

Like your dorm leader or foster father or whatever can't force you to go to sleep at night since you're a grown ass man so maybe allow for late night social links or activities at the cost of penalities during work or battle. Or something like that.

The biggest question is if Atlus can write believable, relatable adults who still have room to grow during the course of the story.

>relatable adults
Catherine

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, retard

Yeah, why not?

Because your quality of life in Japanese society fucking nosedives after high school

why and how

Because the target audience is teenaged chunnibyou

work work work work work work work work work work

This movie and the short story it's based on are bretty good.

No. Japanese college is just all studying.

open pedophilia in japan wasn't banned until 2014, dwell on that.

youtu.be/po8IPh64rVM

they already had adult Persona users back in Eternal Punishment and it made the game way more interesting, but all the good developers left a long time ago and only hacks remain. And these shitty hacks can only write high school trash for dumb fucks.

>go for visit lectures for 4hours/week
>spend the rest of the time masturbating at home
It wouldn't be very interesting

>college
>work work work work work work work
What did he mean by this?

Actually quite the opposite, college in Japan is known for being pretty relaxed as far as colleges go. And compared to how insanely rigorous their high school is (in order to get to college in the first place), college might as well be a 4 year long break.

That said most people there don't go to college. Its one of the lowest rates, out of first world nations that is. Virtually everyone goes to high school though so it has more reach

Me too and I think its themes could translate well into a Persona game

In Japan, high school is often used as a setting because it's often looked at as the "golden years" of everyone's life. Hence the name Persona 4 The Golden. It's also a tried and true trope in the world of anime, so don't fix what isn't broken I guess.

Not only that it sold like shit compared the others. They won't do it again as long as money's on the line, it'd have to be a passion project like SJ. Because there's a stigma against older protagonists in Japan.

>Because there's a stigma against older protagonists in Japan.
Then why are so many manga and LNs featuring older protagonists nowadays?

Japan doesnt like to change working formulas.
I guess because their main demographic is school kids with enough time to play video games its based in high school. College setting might change the esrb rating too.

Any Japanese anime or manga set in high school sells very well. High school is where Japanese people want their games/movies/comics set.

Not really. I liked Persona when I was in highschool and hate it now. It's way too immature and badly written for an adult to enjoy it.

Because nips are obsessed with their high school years. Catherine is likely the closest we're going to get to an adult setting in one of these games

>Hence the name Persona 4 The Golden.
Isn't that cause of Golden Week or something? Like how FES is festival?

I'm honestly glad I don't live in Japan.

Because if they put it in a Japanese university there would literally be no "Free Time" to explore dungeons or do social links. The Japs (rightfully) think that high-school is the last bastion of freedom before you resign yourself to college and then wagecucking until you die of cancer at 57.

It is the exact same reason pretty much 99% of all manga is set in a high-school: it was the last time anyone in Japan was happy and they like that feeling.

>graduated from one of the best U.S. universities for free

Feels good man

Japan is actually BORING as fuck despite all the wacky memes about it. You might enjoy the novelty of the weeb/game places but everywhere else is so dull. The toilets suck, the food suck, the people suck. You gotta be dead inside to want to live over there.

People work themselves to literal death.
That’s not an expression that’s the expectation.

Everyone goes to highschool
Not everyone goes to university
Dropout or not, its more relatable

Golden Week is Persona 4 Arena

>You gotta be dead inside to want to live over there.

Or a diehard weeaboo who thinks it's just like his annie-mays.

The games are already rated M though

Then why the fuck are you posting here

I agree. I loved Persona 3 when it came out because I was literally a 16 year old retard just figuring shit out.
Now I'm 28 and I can't stand nu-Persona, I dropped 5 during NEET girl mission. Everything is so badly written.

Fuck high school settings; they're boring as fuck.

i meant CERO

Unironically this.
T. Spent 2 weeks with the army in Japan
Boring boring place.
My favorite part was getting this shot with blowfish venom that shuts down your liver and keeps you drunk for like 3 days

I’m unironically writing a more mature persona-SMT
What’s something you know you want to see in it?
I wanna go with a more American style

Attached: playstation-ps1-persona-2-eternal-punishment.jpg (1000x972, 182K)

I love Innocent sin/ eternal punishment
Shame the series isn’t as mature

Japanese are obsessed with high-school/high schoolers. Part paedophilia part escapist fantasy.

>choosing classes you're interested in and making your own timetable
>seeing which cutie is in which class so you can pursue your waifu by choosing all her classes
too much like real life
then again i guess i got cucked because this half mute, monotone talking guy got my girl, cant blame him tho he's pretty cool

>American style
I can't imagine how that would turn out good

The persona audience were losers in secondary/high school and probably still are, so the game is a what if power fantasy

You're thinking about it from a western perspective. Japanese people romanticize high school because it's the last time they knew what it was like to be somewhat carefree. The moment you enter the workforce, your life is basically over. Failures (hikikomoris) and successful businessmen alike miss the days when they could just have fun and enjoy life.

>Why do you think Atlus would never make a College/University setting for Persona?
Outside of the hard sciences, Japanese college isn't like Western college. You do and learn literally nothing. It's just a 4 year break from the hell that was the the Japanese educational system. Then you go to work for a company, where they teach you everything you need to know about your job.

Maybe for that reason (and because most Japanese don't go to college), college life isn't romanticized there, so nobody really wants to play a game about it. Especially teenagers who are the target audience of Persona.

>Part paedophilia
Fuck off back to your child sex trafficking rings, britbong.

How can anyone live like this and think it’s okay?

I wish they'd do a college setting where you can have odd weeks with morning/afternoon classes and alternating free time, because as is I've started to hate the calendar system the games use

Job interviews with fun, introspective dialogue, failure, unemployment, shit jobs with weird shit happening (stuff like the abandoned factory in P2), mundane things going wrong and fucked up with the supernatural.
No power of friendship bullshit, no power up bullshit, etc

I'd rather have a prison or hospital setting

Attached: Pankechi.jpg (640x549, 88K)

I wanted a more college setting with cross country summer vacations.
It’s basically high school except more alcohol, alignment choosing, driving and guns also tons of demons ready to eat you, your fellow students and your friends souls
I want you to rely on your 3 best friends but in the end you have to kill 2 of them to pick your true alignment

>Prison Persona
Aside all the gay shit I could see that being surprisingly deep

I thought thatt’s what 5 was going to be. They’d have to let you fuck men in a prison game though so it’ll never happen.

>No Power of friendship
Good after having that retard Nozomi forced on me in SMT IVA I fucking hate the power of friendship.
The best part of the whole game was killing her

Why not persona set in a retirement community

I feel like a prison game could work
You could have only 4 females in the entire game
And believe me after spending 6 months in juvenile detention every single girl looked for weeks looked like a god damn super model

Considering how much old people fuck in retirement homes it’s definitely a some untapped potential

I went to Tokyo for a month and it was by far the most fun place I've ever been. most beautiful women best culture, tons of cool anime and video game shit all over the place, amazing food, what's not to love?

I guess just how dreary it looks
Every day I was there it was raining
I don’t think I saw the sun once until I left the island

Personally I love the rain and hate hot weather. maybe just because I live in Florida. Also I went to Tokyo in the winter time and it wasn't raining at all. I'm sure places like Okinawa aren't nearly as exciting or cool though.

A prison setting sounds great. You can literally have any kind of character join you and it lets the writer explore all kinds of philosophical questions about freedom, death, the meaning of life and so on, from an adults perspective and not some clueless teenager faggot

Why did you go to juvy

Yakuza 7

Arson
I burned down this old shack with fireworks and accidental caused a 2 acre forest fire.

Luckily my mom is a really good lawyer and just go It brought down to disorderly conduct charge and 6 months juvy.

I’m just happy I didn’t get charged as an adult at age 14

I actually thought making Yakuza turn based was a pretty good idea.
I just hope it comes out on a portable with Sony makes it or Switch

Why would you do that? Dumb kid stuff or are you one of those people that likes watching things burn?

Mix of both

How did you even get caught?

Everyone within a 10 mile radius saw the huge clouds of smoke and called the fire department and local police

What’s a good way to write job interviews?

This
Literally anyone can got to jail
The most diverse game and 1 thing everyone has in common
“We got caught”

>Wow there’s a lot of niggers in here
