If a game offers a light and a dark path which one do you usually do?

Which ever side seems like it'll be the most fun

Depends, in an adventure game I'll usually pick the light path since the lighting engine tends to suck in those types of games. In a survival horror I'll always pick the dark path since I don't want to miss on the atmosphere, although the light path is probably an instant death trap so I'll check it out anyway for the chills, given I got a checkpoint nearby or it's the second playthrough. In a platformer I'll always pick the dark path, platform levels with lighting gimmicks are kino.
I usually go with light to start with because being mean makes me feel bad
Why does Japan like light and dark and shove it into all their games in as many ways as possible?

What the fuck were they thinking?
YOSH!
I would do both. I finish one and then do the other
But light and dark are always shown to be equals with neither being bad in any way.
