Shame FROM didn't go all in and ported over the same weapon balance to Dark Souls III.
Maybe with some exotic upgrade tree where you could go Dagger -> Bandit Knife / Scholar Knife, instead of making most of the split weapons somewhat useless.

It does more damage at a faster rate than any of those. That's why it has such a shitty moveset and why it breaks after swinging it only like 50 times

Really just need the claws and the Beast Embrace rune. I can't recall the stat spread off the top of my head but basically whatever scales best with the claws, and you'll probably want lots of Stamina since you're going to be right up in enemies' faces
Also keeping your insight as close to 0 as possible

You can also get the claws super early by going to a specific chalice dungeon, might want to look that up
Beast Embrace rune is, unfortunately, locked behind Laurence the first Vicar in the old hunters dlc first area, so that might be hard to get as early

The tonitrus has a glitch where it says you do way more damage than you actually do in the menu while the weapon is buffed with electricity. Like it'll say it does 1200 when it really does like 900-950

Stats aren't as important as upgrading and gems but the optimal build for Claws is 50 str 25 skl aka the most versatile build along with 50/70/99 arc

STR BLT is a chad build but that weapon has a boring as fuck moveset unfortunately, I twinked it and got smacked up hard by maria over and over again just to have a BL50 bloodletter to play the rest of the game with, but wew it wasn't worth it. the moveset is just so snooze
