...but you MUST replay the game to see the full story. Actually, replay not from the beginning, but from middle, after 1 specific event.
>what am I in for?
Wondering how the fuck this franchise got five games, four of which from the same hack devs.
Rice farming. Lots, and lots of rice farming. It's mediocre but the music and weirdness are worth it.
Cutscenes out of whack
>tfw I missed weapons in act 1
Gave up on route C entirely
I'm 90% sure you can get all weapons in act 2, have you checked?
Didn't go to the stores. I checked

Missed the weapon the shade dropped and some other. Didn't buy all off Aerie's blacksmith and can't go back. How would I go about it? Start anew after ending B and buy all I missed and unlock ending C?
one of the endings deletes your save file
a better game than automata

>I just got this up and running on rpcs3 at 60fps
Literally how?
>Nier
>main caharacter is called Nier
>Nier: Automata
>a handful of references to the first game
Why put it in the name? Did it help sell? 2B's ass helped sell the game, not the reference to the previous game.
By that logic:
>Drakengard: Nier
NieR is the sequel to a Drakengard alternate ending anyway
NieR: Automata is a much more memorable name than YoRHa. Also, it's probably to signify the gameplay similarity, the two NieR games have more in common with one another than with any of Drakengard games.
What does YoRHa even stand for?
Taro keeps it a secret, but yoruha is Japanese for swaying leaves which is intentional because the original YoRHa stage play had all the androids with flower-themed names.
YoRHa big gay
Overrated shit
Very informative
I wish the same was possible with Drakengard 3. That game still runs like absolute ass and can't maintain 20 fps let alone 30 or 60.
I guess it's better than the single-digit FPS it was getting on the PS3 but it's still nowhere near playable.
>DoD3
>best combat
I unironically got more enjoyment out of the torture that is playing DoD1. The frame rate is fucking atrocious if you're playing PS3, and they somehow made enemies that are more annoying to fight than anything in the first game. In contrast, you can at least cheese everything in DoD1 with the support calls, and the flight segments are actually really good on their own.
Wasn't so bad on RPCS3
It's still horrendous whenever you summon the dragon or later in the game.
There's still no 60 FPS patch either but I kinda doubt it'd be worth it anyway considering the game can't even do 30.
>DoD3 Best Combat
lmao which moron made this
Specs?
DoD1 is only tedious to play, DoD3 is dogshit with the fps dips
>DUDE YOU HAVE TO BEAT THIS BORING AND REPETITIVE GAME MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT GETS GOOD
>terrible combat
Stop this shit meme, magic system is good and bullet hell ennemies are fun. It's not great, but it's clearly ok, there is nothing bad about it.
This. Nier still has some of the coolest looking magic spells, and while bare bones as fuck, the hack n' slash gameplay feels good and engaging despite being incredibly simple. Never does it actually becoming agonizing to play like when you're trying to kill bloated healthbars in DoD3, or struggling to outmaneuver enemies in DoD1 or dealing with magic immunity.
I gave this game up halfway through the first loop after completion. The extra story elements added were not worth the grind to do the same boring shit that I had already done. I assume it gets better on subsequent loops but it was so boring that I didn't give a shit. There's only so much monotonous gameplay that I can put up with in order to experience a story.
THis game didn't have enough of a hook to make me care.
Ignore these clowns. The only redeeming factors are the music and the quirkyness of the writing & world. It's not worth wading through the dog shit dialogue, combat, travel times and quests to experience them. Just read a summary, listen to the music and call it a day. The only thing the game will challenge is your patience.
>magic system is good
>big fist everything that moves
>if it doesn't work, just use lance
>congrats you win
>playing the game like a speedrunner because it's easier
If you can't enjoy all the magics because you absolutely need to play it like a retard, you only have yourself to blame.
>You have to play ineffectively on purpose to have fun
Was for
You're running a game built for 30fps at 60fps
>You have to play ineffectively on purpose to have fun
>ineffectively
It's not like if you can't beat the fucking ennemies with other spells.
You choose to use the same spell during the whole game because it was easier, that's all.
It was boring because instead of discovering all the possibilities, you choose to do the same thing again and again because speedrunners play it like that.
Oh and of course, you probably wanted to rush through the game and it was the best thing to do for you so now, you shit on the combat system.
Like I said, NieR combat is ok for a 2010 ARPG which was a simple AA title, it was even original because we never saw this type of bullet pattern in a ARPG before.
>bloated healthbars on DoD3
What the actual fuck am i reading, you cut through enemies like butter with zero, nier has infinitely more tediois enemies
Maybe the enemies feel tougher because the framerate dips into the single digits.
It's literally a direct fuckin' sequel, Automata's world could not have come about without the events of the first game.
You can't call NieR a direct sequel to Drakengard because it doesn't even take place on the same planet as Drakengard.
That's not even a contrarian opinion. Most people who played both games prefer the first.
I liked the first's characters better but I could not possibly assert it is a "better game" with a straight face. The controls were agony and the grinding was miserable.
lol, you sound an awful lot like someone who just skipped the game by reading a summary/watching it on youtube and is trying to justify doing it to himself
A weird good game. Some people like to pretend it's better than its sequel. The characters are a lot more interesting but that's the only thing it actually does better.
>You choose to use the same spell during the whole game because it was easier, that's all.
I chose the same two-three spells because they fucking worked. Why would I try to charge unwieldy clone move or the wall when they're literally fucking pointless? And bullet hell is extremely devalued by the fact you can block literally everything indefinitely, it only got properly realized in Automata with proper shmup levels.
>Automata's world could not have come about without the events of the first game.
Events of NieR have virtually zero bearing on the story of Automata. Automata is a sequel to YoRHa play if anything. Project Gestalt is not important for Automata's story. WCT is not important for Automata's story, hell, it's not even important for Gestalt's own story, if we were just told that there was a weird magic illness that made everyone die, that'd have been 100% enough (and that's actually all we're directly told in the games anyway). Both games are competely self-contained for the purpose of the story they want to tell, and all the extra materials are just flourish.
You sound like a dumb secondary who read a wikia and now thinks he's an expert on all things Yoko.
