I have also personally come to accept that Japan is the future of gaming. But raises a point in that the indie dev scene (in the west in general) is really booming right now. Most indie games don't have what i'm looking for in a full game experience though. The japanese still manage to put SOUL into their AAA games.

stalker isnt an indie. it was a mega AAA game. also its made by slavs. and let me say one more thing, slavs still make decent games. they are just niche compared to stalker, cdpar garbage, and shit.
i solely play japanese and slav games, and some latin/asian indie games like va 11, pato box. anglo games are mostly garbage and absolutely soulless. although you can find out a very few gems with no reviews on steam.

To be fair, I don't have to dig into the ass cracks to find good games in Japan. Their AAA titles are good to great titles. Japan in 2019 and 2020 wouldn't put out some shit like Anthem, not in a million years.
