No it's the best FF and best ARPG SE ever made, only KH fags try to push the meme against it because they never played it and are triggered that KH3 failed while XV suceeded.

It wasn't, but it also wasn't that good. Best thing about it was the music.
youtube.com/watch?v=jGPMijwlWYw

The camaraderie and banter between the characters was the best thing about it desu.

>Was it really that bad?
yep.

It was better than 13

I was utterly disappointed with the game from start to finish. I was HYPE when Nomura was in charge but the whole thing tanked when he was kicked off. I would have rather waited another 5 years then play the game we got.

The bro moment were good. Summons were cool when they worked and...that was it.

The 1st half that Tabata managed to salvage was good. The 2nd half makes me understand why Nomura was shit canned.

>hold circle to win

yes
give it up already XV-kun, no matter how subtle you think you are it's obviously you.

>It was better than 13
No, it's worse than 13 and just as bad as 12.

>XV suceeded
>was so bad Tabata was fired and all future DLC was shitcanned

Either you're trolling or this was your first FF.
XV is a giant open world that's visually beautiful, but, that's about it. It's world is empty with nothing to do other than repetitive fetch quests and repetitive monster hunting. The story is basic and bland and has little to do with anything in the game until you get to the last chapter (which is the best part of this game because you're finally doing something worth while). upgrading your car is useless unless you want to access the hidden dungeon (which is the only reward you get for fully upgrading your car. There's actually nothing else to do with your flying car.) you are required to go out of your way and watch external media to "get the full story" which is complete total bullshit considering the length of the story in XV is about 9 hours long (cutting out the boring awkward car rides).

XV is SE trying to jump on western trends while ditching what they do best, which is crafting a deep story set in a world full of characters you you can actually invest yourself into. XV is four dudes who never develop past the opening cut scene.

Also they kill off characters that you never really got to interact with, expecting to tug at your heart strings.

I enjoyed it enough to finish everything and platinum. Fishing was pure fucking kino. I don't really give a fuck about final fantasy and wasn't hyped at all so that might factor in. DLC was cool wish the rest didn't get cancelled.

Wait 12 was good, idk what to think anymore.

>KH3 with Final Fantasy written on it in Sharpie

The moment the series went realtime it lost its way. 15 added action combat which does not mesh well with RPG stats-and-skills

Magic was functionally removed and summons are random

I played the FFXV Judgement demo and was bored to tears by the empty and lifeless open world, was annoyed by Prompto and his horrible VA and mannerisms, and the combat was boring and a complete clusterfuck at the same time. Does the final game get better?

generic 5/10 open world shit that severely lacks depth in gameplay, story, overall pretty much everything.

12 was good, keep thinking what you were thinking

oh and dont get me started on the characters.

I loved it. But the Jewish DLC practices made me hate it. Gameplay wise though, it’s very fun.

you find holding the O button down fun?

>Also they kill off characters that you never really got to interact with, expecting to tug at your heart strings.

Fucking this. They were on crack if they thought Luna dying would affect anyone. You literally never see her till she dies. I was more sad about Luna, who, like her master, died off screen.

yes.

I still don't get it to this day. Is this mostly Nomura or Tabata fault? I don't really follow the drama. All I knew is this game is shit and apparently one of them is to blame for this.

>game plays itself
>good

And on it's 2nd anniversary stream, no less.

If that’s how play it, it’s not going to be fun.

Nomura. Tabata had to finish Nomura's mess, and afterwards left the company seeing how awful it is. He showed his qualities with FF Type-0, which is infinitely better than FFXV.

12 played like a fucking MMO without a community around you. Grind areas abound. I'd burn my copy if I wasn't a pathetic loser that gets a minor high collecting things

Attached: 1565001495492.jpg (500x750, 68K)

It's square's fault for giving nomura two of its biggest projects at once and then taking one away before his vison was completed and gave it to someone whos only made shitty spin off games and turned ffv13 into something resembling a shitty spin off game

>SE wanted the Luminous Engine to be their Fox engine or RE engine
>fucked up so badly that only one team can use it and had to give that team their own studio so all that time and money spent on it doesn't go to waste
damn, will they ever catch a break?

The demos looked fine until tabata took over and redesigned the system with his old man hands and took out the few cool scenes we got and put them in a movie.

This is incorrect. everything besides some character designs by Nomura was completely scrapped. Tabata started over from scratch. XV is % Tabata.

True.

FF XV wasn't bad, just underwhelming. There was a good idea in there but the development was too much of a mess to follow it through. The first few hours are a pretty good indication for what the game could have been but the rest, even before it gets to the linear second half, is just kind of a mess. It's a shame, I liked the world and the characters but it simply didn't work out. It was a AA game trying to be a AAA game and failing.

I'm pretty sure this team is no more

I liked it up until Leviathan.

Everything in the demo combat wise is still there. It’s just now free flow instead of locked into a sequence. And even then, there’s an item that makes it sequential. It’s literally a better battle system.

it's holding O until the fight is over.

Should have clarified, the video demos. The SECOND tabata took over there was a noticable drop in quality. With their multiple demos and "How do i make a videogame?" questionaires you could tell he was out of his depth.

It’s not that bad desu. Airstep made it more fun

Everything there can be done as well. Even Armiger+ added super saiyan mode back. I think there is maybe 1 or 2 at most moves that has been taken out.

How about you use a big boy argument, buddy.

>hates everything japanese and jrpgs
>loves last of us, remedy shit like control, god of war 2018

Yea Forums has really changed hasnt it

Nah. Luminous Studio is making a brand new rpg ip right now

Oh really? I thought because Tabata left they just shut it down.

How about you try to tell me how pressing O for an entire fight is a better battle system than actually having to think?

Because nobody is forcing you to? You can do a myriad of combos and techniques to make your life and the game better. The fact that you choose only to use the simple chain attacks pretty much sums up your entire life attitude.

I pressed and held O throughout the entire game because there was never a reason to do anything else. The combat is shit. It's brainless. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to make it fun. new abilities and skills should excite me to try out new combos and ways of tackling a fight. instead i would just warpstrike in, and hold O.

So you did the bare minimum and then complain about the game not being fun? Gee, I hope you put half as much effort into your real life shit.

>game is amazing, 10/10, must-play, reallly
>it can be beaten by doing the bare minimum, which is holding O, it might as well be a movie at this point

I did the bare minimum because that's all you have to do to beat it. Nier: Automatas bare minimum blows XV's "deep combat if you put actual effort into it and move the left joystick around sometimes" out of the water. do you know why? Because you can't beat that game by holding one button. It shouldn't be on the player to make the game fun.

Just admit it. XV's combat is brainless because they were trying to appeal to a western audience.

It’s just so sad when we must judge something on what is needed but not what is possible. But I guess if that’s the attitude you want to take in life, I’m not stopping you.

If you want to defend a braindead combat system that requires no effort to master with 0 mental stimulation, then go ahead, I'm not stopping you.

Apparently you didn’t master it if all you did was the bare minimum.

Is this game worth $20 for PS4? I don’t have a gaming PC so I cant pirate it

Go get a Jap PSN.
Download the FFXV Judgement demo.
Try it out for yourself.

Don’t buy it. Don’t support the Asian Jews.

I did, and like I said, there was never a reason to not hold O

You forgot the biggest reason though: it’s more fun. Isn’t that why we play games? To have fun?

first 1/3 of the game was pretty good if you like open world and whatever the fuck nu-FF's combat system is supposed to be
second 1/3 is railroady and phoned in
third part is unfinished and just plain bad
DLC's range from boring to ok, but should have been part of the main game

I really enjoyed it.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the game is not fun no matter what way you play it. If it was more fun then that would have been a reason for me not to hold O every fight.

But you didn’t, so how would you know, eh?

Lightning's games are better.

She's basically the best character in FF and all Vidya by default.

Any game she's in is improved exponentially, see FFXIV. It was relatively unknown and failing until they did a Lightning crossover. I saw Lightning crossover because without Lightning-sama XIII wouldn't even exist.

You see, Lightning is a very unique and special character, much more than a character really. She is like a rose... Strong, yet beautiful and sophisticated, passionate, and delicate but with rough thorns to remind you of her power.

Attached: 970cf6d971435514edb42b1cbebf405d.png (744x900, 830K)

also: parts 2 and 3 are so bad, they give you an item (?) that lets you flashback to part 1 and keep doing quests there, in case you want to pretend you're still playing a game that is good

Yes. It was 5/10 upon release, and barely a 6.5/10 in its current state.

Obviously I tried it you dipshit, have you not been paying attention? Anything new I learned, I tried, it was bland, I went back to old faithful.

Based Toriyama-brain poster

Go to Paris and kill yourself

Yes

XIII is a genuinely better game than XV by pure virtue of there being a constant narrative and progressing story. Too many gaps in XV

It’s okay, user. I know it’s a lot of work to do beyond the minimum. You don’t have to try and justify it for me.

I WANT TO BURY MY FACE IN LIGHTNING'S ARMPIT AND DIE

You're defending a combat system that can beat any encounter by holding one button. Trust me, I'm not the one trying to justify anything here.

Only gaps I'm interested in are thighgaps. Thighgaps on women. No men! I'm not a homo like XV fans!

Shh. It’s okay. You don’t have to say anymore.

Really the only thing we should be defending is the absolute justice of maintaining Lightning's legacy as the best final fantasy character and best character in fiction overall.

How can doomguy, Master chef or Zelda even compete??? Let alone some emo prince with his bara sex gang.

Attached: Lightning-Render.jpg (580x290, 131K)

I know, because you ran out of logical arguments and are now resorting to insults.

The only logical conclusion is that Lightning is perfect.

Attached: F1wrjd.jpg (1280x720, 75K)

She's honestly not that bad of a character. none of the characters from XIII are bad, the game just focused on the wrong areas.

What are you talking about!? The game focused on Lightning, it's literally perfect.

The cast was perfect too! By being inadequately portrayed they remind us of the importance of Lightning as a character and a driving force of culture in our otherwise drab lives.

Insults? When?

No, I liked it a lot. Never even considered playing it until like 5 month ago when I bought a new 1070.
Only FF besides Crisis Core that I really fell in love with.
DLC's make it even greater, shame about all the cancelled DLC, that ending was legit kino.

I've always wanted to travel to Paris by train to meet Lightning at a comfy cafe...

The only insult in this thread are people not talking about Lightning.

Holy fucking shit, all this Lightning faggotry. Is it 2009? I hope it is, because it means my dad is still alive.

He could be alive! In Paris with Lightning! We could all go there together!

At launch? Totally.
Nowadays it seems to be decent but I wouldn't know.

nice looking world and good music.
Gameplay is very simple and boring
the world looks nice but is very simple and barely changes
most of the story to get you introduced to the characters and game is in a anime series and a movie.
dlc had to be made to fill in gaps, one of which added a better ending for noctis (not dead).
the enemy nation is not real, its just a city with a bunch of clone soldiers in it.

Squeenix mismanagement.

what the fuck is a grind area

That shit is happening since the merger and those fuckers still can't fix it.

yes

matsuda is trying his best user-kun. please be patient

I like most of the stuff except story and gameplay.

Attached: 1556605027061.png (540x699, 743K)

It's bad, Nomura should have said no to directing XV, KH3 and the VII remake. At the same time Square shouldn't have offered. Tabata shouldn't have strayed so far from Nomura's vision and been so ambitious with the DLC, he should have cut his losses after the initial release.

At the end of the day all parties involved are to blame for the horrible combat, shit story, and terrible exploration.

It was worse than Lightening Returns

Shut the fuck up, Barry.

so fucking bad

>Was it really that bad?
With Royal Edition/Episode Ardyn it is pretty alright and can be enjoyed as long as you don't expect to much. I put like 200 hours into it and can say it's not great, but it is good if you are into that type of thing.

Yeah, it’s pretty fucking bad.

The only FF part of the game is the title.
XV is just a dab, "You thought XIII was bad? Lmao check this out".

Reminder that the book confirmed Ardyn resisting fate is non canon and the real Ardyn gave in to fate and spent the whole game just trying to get Notcus to kill him,

It's smash X to win much like KH.

I expected more from her in the game what a shame

*hold

Lots of time and money were obviously invested into this which makes it all the more depressing when you realise how boring the final game is. Just because XIII was subpar doesn't mean they should have fallen for the open world meme.

No it wasn't. I hate the anti-XV circlejerk on Yea Forums because it lets the fucking XIII defence squad have a place to jerk each other off
