KoF 14 is a good starting point
the inputs are more forgiving than the older ones but its still a fun time

Honestly just grab the new samsho or kof 14 and look for friends to play with. Friends are probably the most important aspect of getting into fighters.

If you want to play the series Terry is from, play some Fatal Fury, the last in the series Garou; Mark of the Wolves is by far the best, it rivals 3rd strike imo

there's more people on fightcade than on 13/14 and the netcode is better

KoF 96 is pretty easy and it's the most fun

Just play the first Fatal Fury. Not only do you get to understand Terry's story, but the gameplay is much more basic and pure: it should give you a good foundation.

But has a point. Consistent people to play with and talk to can make a fighting game much more enjoyable. Assuming the likely case OP is a discord user or something like that, it's just easier to convince people to play a newer game so it's an option. If that ain't the case though, fightcade all the way since he doesn't even have to stop at SNK games.

96 is complete fucking garbage

There were also rereleases for alot of those games too that added new characters and mechanics.

SNK truly was king of making fighting games before fighting games became unpopular in the early 2000s.

Not OP, but would anybody recommend the KoF that allowed you to tag out between your 2 other characters? 02 or 03 I believe it was?
