Ok. how does that work then? When I never actually got around to playing the other chapters. Do the game just start over with a new set of events? Doesn't that get repetitive?

I replayed Never7 and discovered that one scene in Kurumi's route can't be completed 100% and I'm too dumb to fix the game by myself.

There's a lot of chess analogies and references in the story, so it's best to think of it like "all the pieces are put back in place for the next round". The "players" remember everything, though. It'll make more sense once you get through the 2nd game, if that's confusing to you.

Did it get repetitive in Higurashi? Sure, most of the stories ended the same way (everyone dead), but how you got to there was different in each arc, right? Same dealio here. It's arguably done much better in Umineko though, since you advance the overall narrative with each story a lot more than Higurashi did.

The thing is that I played the first Higurashi, heard of how the next one was structured and kinda lost interest because it sounded really weird and repetetive. With Umineko I suddenly got several of them in a batch, which is why I am asking.
But if everyone remembers what happens between chapters then I can see the story progressing properly, which is comforting.
